I'm so grossed out but mostly worried. I know that mouse feces can carry a really dangerous virus and I'm so worried that my LO will catch it. We're getting new couches today so I don't have to worry about any more of it in the couch but I haven't even seen a mouse anywhere so I don't know if it's still in the house or not. I had OH vacuum and shampoo the carpets but now I'm reading that you should never vacuum mice droppings as it can spread the virus into the air. I'm freaking out. I've read it can be very serious if babies catch it.

First of all try not to panic!
Cleaning and things is great, but you need to check the house for holes. Thing is they can come from the tiniest of holes (we're talking a pen hole size) so check. If you find any holes you can buy steel wool to fill them. Mice don't mean a dirty house either.
A good way to check if mice are still around is look for droppings (you are best sweeping them up), leave bait and if thats been touched, you might have it still around.
Another way is traps of course.
Either way its best to try some methods to ensure the problem isnt bigger than it seems. We get them due to the crappy old building we are in and the woodland and grassy areas next to us, and we have bait stations in safe places and check them regulary through the year.

I'm sure on the scale of it and RE: viruses things will be just fine.

I live in an end terraced house and when I was 1mth away from having DD2 we found mouse droppings. DH went mad an bought a load of traps(the proper ones not the friendly ones as they are vermin and need to be killed)he put them in the loft and under the bath also the sticky stuff. Put peanut butter as bait we also bought a plug in rodent repller from Amazon and touch wood we haven't had any for ages and, our neighbours also got traps and the same rodent repeller. Remember practically every house has mice just that they are very good at not being seen.

Thank you. I'm such a germophobe and I keep everything super clean, so I was shocked to find this. But like you, I live in an old building next to a field with tall grass. We think we know how it's getting in. The bottom of our door has a metal piece on it, and one side came unscrewed and is plenty big enough for a mouse to get in. We're screwing that back on today. I'm trying not to worry but reading things about it on the internet has me terrified.

We get mice all the time, there a pain in the bum.

We use all sorts to try kill them/get rid of them.

I hate them!!!

Yes in the US mice can carry hanta or maybe hansa virus I think it's called? But doesn't mean all of them do. From the sounds of it, it sounds like field mice, although not something you want in your home they are a lot cleaner than the common house mouse and tend to do their business in one area and not out in the open. I don't know if they have it there but there is a rentokil product that is like a blue poison playdoh looking substance in a secure plastic box that kids can't tamper with or access. Its the only thing that field mice will go for. It's not very humane though and I probably wouldn't use it now xx
