I've had my baby!
Little miss was born on Tuesday morning at 8.46am after a failed induction with the 24 hour gel on Sunday and another failed 6 hour gel on Monday morning.
Then on Monday evening I got another 6 hour gel at which point the midwife was a bit rough to sweep the membranes, but she did the trick. Almost immediately I started having contractions.
By 2am my waters went and by 5am i got diamorphine to help with the pain, but was told it would be a long wait.
The midwives told me I could get an epidural at 8.30am if I wanted and I'd prob deliver by dinner time. That seemed like a long wait and I'd been awake since 4am Sunday morning so I decided to go for it.
However, by 8.30am when he arrived (I was out of it on gas and air by this point) they told him to go away, there was no need now, at which point I started shouting why was he leaving me. "He is leaving you because you are delivering this baby in the next few minutes!" was their reply.
I had no idea, I just figured the pain was right for that stage and I still had 9 hours to go as I'd only been 2cm dilated at 5am. But no, out she came in 6 pushes, it was amazing.
In all honesty, I didn't find the pushing out stage difficult at all, and I didn't think it hurt. It was the contractions that were the bugger, but when I felt the urge to push, that pushed away the pain too.
All in all it was sore, but nowhere near as bad as I expected and I would definately do it again!
I got a second degree tear, but it wasn't deep and I didn't feel it at all. The recovery has been fine so far.
I am so in love with my bubba, we are happily settled home and breastfeeding and enjoying every minute of cuddles together. The best feeling ever!
