I finished a round of ICSI in Dec. What can I help you with?

Thanks for replying...........

Well don't know where to start, I just feel like we are going into the unknown.

First question is, will I start drug treatment after this appointment, how many scans, hospital appointments etc will there be in the next few months.

Thanks xx

It depends on your clinic's protocol. There's really no way to know. It also depends on how well you respond to the drugs. I'm having another go, because my first ended at 10 weeks (a week ago). My protocol has me starting on my down regging drugs on March 16. I'll be on those for 1 week before we add in the stimming drugs. I was on those for another week. Then, I waited about 2 days, did my trigger shot, had egg collection 2 days after that, and then embryo transfer 3 days later. I only had about 5 visits the whole time... but I responded well and quickly. One of those visits was just a blood draw.

My whole process was down regging from Nov 14 and embryo transfer Dec 10.

How your clinic does things could be completely different though. I hope it goes smoothly for you, honey! Good luck!

All hospitals do there treatment differently and it also depends of how well you respond. at my clinic ive had two ICSI cycles

cycle #1 long protocol

started down reg day 21 for about 3 weeks had a scan then started stims while still doing the down reg drugs. i took them for 12 days during which i had 3 scan then had HCG injection and had egg collection 36 hours later then egg transfer 2 days after

cycle #2 short protocol

started stims on day one of cycle i took them for 10 days but can be upto 14 days. had HCG then egg collection 36 hours later. had 4 scan during this cycle.

there are other protocols but they are the two i have had.

good luck hun xx

Thank you Both,

A great help.

All very confusing, but im sure we will learn quick.

Hey all,

Just thought i'd join in on this forum. Me and hubby have finally gotten confirmation from our local PCT that we will get one cycle of ICSI funded so now we are just waiting for our hospital to contact us with an appointment. Can anyone tell me what to expect at the appointment?

Thanks

Joanne x

first we got a invitation for a information evening (dont know if all hospitals have them) which we were given a pack of all the forms and information. so at my very first appointment with the fertility specialist we booked all our blood test, filled and signed all the forms and talked about the different treatment.

I'm not much help... Here in the US, its a bit different. I mean, I literally had my consult with my FS and was starting IUI about a week later... the ICSI was just 2 months after that and would have been sooner if I hadn't needed surgery. We don't do the information evenings or anything... Its just making a decision and starting here.

At where I live, all consults are with the fertility specialist. He does everything from explaining our options, percentages for success, explanation of egg/sperm quality, scans to Egg collection and transfer. There are no information evenings. It's a very one on one, personalized experience here.
