idiot proof cupcake recipe?!

i dont bake and dont know where to start but want to make cupcakes for LO birthday in 2 weeks so want to have a trial run!

fool proof step by step guide would be great

-2oz sugar and 2oz margarine,cream it together with the back of a spoon.

-4oz self raising flour and 2 eggs (beaten with a little bit of milk)
add a little flour to the marg/sugar mix and then a little egg,mix with spoon,continue till all the egg and flour are in.

cook at 190-gas mark 5 (adjust for fan oven) for approx 15-20 minutes.
Check them throughout but dont open the oven untill they have risen.

when you do the icing on top do you just use icing sugar?!

sorry for the questions! i can cook savoury perfectly but baking always goes wrong lol x

Icing sugar with butter and about a teaspoon of milk creamed together.You can add vanilla or any other flavour and colour if you want.
