I have bonded differently with my 2 girls due to so many factors, mainly being their personalities & bella being my first & therefore being my only for 17 months. I don't believe that how I fed them (bella was ff from a month old) had a significant impact on how I bonded with them.
I don't feel my bond with my son (fully FF from 12 weeks) is any different to my bond with my daughter (exclusively BF from birth). Yes I feel a difference when actually feeding my daughter by holding her close etc but generally no, I have a fantastic relationship with both.
I breastfed my first child for 6 weeks, by day 3 I had really painful sores on my nipples, I broke my tail bone in delivery so sitting up straight was impossible, my positioning was rubbish so my sores got worse, it was agony with every feed and as she was feeding every hour I hated being a mother.being in pain with no sleep is not a great start. when I switched her to formula we finally started to bond!
With my second I had none of the problems breastfeeding that I had with my first, my nipples are fine, she can happily go 2-3 hours without a feed and bonding has been a lot easier!
Yes, I'm afraid the bond was quite different! But my BF baby (2nd) was a happy healthy baby, and my formula baby (1st) was a very sick angry little thing, so it's hard to love that the same. Now, it's the same, but at first, not at all.
