in general, are second births faster/easier than first?

#1 - 3 hours and a few pushes (couple minutes)
#2 - 47 minutes with barely any pushing. She flew out.
#3 - 1 hour 40 minutes (longer induction process due to my severe polyhydramnios). No pushing.
#4 - No labor. I went from 6 cm to birth in about a minute. Three minutes before his birth I was not in labor. He barreled through the birth canal, and my cervix just melted away almost instantly. I had roughly four back-to-back contractions before his birth.

However, with all of my labors, I didn't begin active labor until 5 cm with #3, and 6-8 cm with the others.

I planned homebirths with my last two, a waterbirth with my youngest, but he came so suddenly that I didn't have time to make it to the birth tub. He was born on my bed. Planning another homebirth, and it may end up being unassisted/unattended.

with my first had 10hr labour my second was 6hr. Only got bath an paracetmol with second, pethedine an gas air first.

labour from waking with bachache to deliver (10hrs first) from first contraction to deliver (6hrs second).

My first with my ds was great. I was in labor for about 10-12 hours with no complications and a epidural. I'm hoping my second is even quicker and jus as great. I'm actually not worried about labor and more less anxious lol. Hopefully this won't bite me in the ass cus im not stressing about it lol.

I was induced with both mine due to high risk pregnancies

My first was from start to finish 7 hours 49 minutes epidural pain free Birth

My second was from start to finish 18 minutes  even though it was quick it was not a nice experience the contractions were full blown immediately so no time to build up to the big ones labour was completely out of control and my body had not even realised I had given birth til baby was completely out so I suffered with panic attacks etc ... For 2 weeks after birth

I hate to think how quick our third will be lol

18 minutes!!!!! Wow was there any signs before like loosing plug etc? What a shock!

My 1st was 24 hours from waters breaking but only had extra painful contractions for about 6 hours before delivery hoping it is similar this time.

Nope I went for consultant appointment on the Monday he did internal exam and said was completely closed and due to being high risk he booked me for induction 2 days later.

On day of induction I had the pessary inserted at 11:30 I was checked around 3:30 and zero change at all nothing happening what so ever. Text my mum to get her to bring my oldest up to see me as thought it obviously was not happening. My OH went to meet my mum at the door to show her were to come and literally a minute after he walked out the room BAM waters went and full blown contractions mum literally walked in saw what was happening and whisked my son back out the room. Literally got round onto delivery and he was born

Eeeek, that's incredible!! And promising news for me as my first was a 3 hour labour from start to finish (1cm to birth) with a minute or two of pushing, so hoping for an even speedier birth this time round!

That is incredible! Bless ya! You hear lots of stories of labour taking days But not many about minutes! You must have one eager baba x

My second was more difficult in new ways.

My first was long and exhausting 27hrs (2w slow labour) 10min pushing. All started naturally.

My second i had a sweep then went into labour, no bulid up like first time i had bad SPD.
My labour in total was 10hr, 6hr being active it was intense earlier, for longer period but overall the shortesr time. It was very overwhelming and with spd pain make it feel like my pelvis was breaking apart. 15min pushing.

My induction with DD1 was similar, that's why I hated it so much! Absolutely fine one second, not even a twinge.... to full blown, back to back no break contractions the next :nope: the natural onset was much more nicer for me, I preferred the slow build up of pain!
