Hi, I had an emcs with my first after a failed induction (2 lots of gel, ARM and 8 hours on the drip and barely a contraction only got to 2cm).

I'm trying to figure out my options this time and will be discussing with my consultant in a few weeks but interested in hearing others experiences. I'm diabetic so wont be going past 38 weeks which is why it'll either likely be induction or planned section. UK experiences in particular. Will they let me try induction? Anyone induced with a Foley bulb?

Thanks x

Are you sure being induced is the right choice for you? Personally I'd give it some thought before being induced for GD. I think the evidence for it is a bit sketchy, especially if you have it well controlled.

Interesting info here: https://evidencebasedbirth.com/does-gestational-diabetes-always-mean-a-big-baby-and-induction/

Sorry because that wasnt your question. Hopefully some others can help with info about the induction part.

Thanks but I'm type 1 not GD and my first was 9lb 2oz at 38 weeks lol x

I don't see why they wouldn't let you try induction again if you're keen to..?
I haven't personally been induced with a Foley bulb but I think that's beginning to become the preferred method for VBAC induction, to then get to the stage of ARM. Shame that the drip had no effect on you last time but that's not to say the same would happen again, so I don't see why they would say no..? :-)

I had my first consultant appointment the other day regarding my last pregnancy and the reasons I ended up having an EMCS, apparently the induction (GD related) itself was perfect and was just that DS wasn't ready to come out. I'm hoping for a VBAC and was told that I can be induced if I really need or want it. It would just mean even closer monitoring which doesn't sound that much different than before.

I'm a little sceptical myself, but I've got until 36 weeks before I give my final word on the subject. A lot hangs in the balance on whether I get GD again.
