intrigued...piercing type question

I was watching Snog Marry Avoid on BBC3 ( i know....) last week and one girl had a tattoo up her side. She then got some diamante looking things 'pierced' into the design.

wtf was that? i was intrigued - it didnt look like a general piercing?

I didn't watch it but maybe an anchor piercing (I think that is what they are called) basically pierce the skin and then put a bar in with a flat plate on the back that "anchors" into the flesh or just a straight forward surface piercing. I wanted a corset piercing done but never got round to it before having DS

That sounds like it bubbles... i kinda liked it but i was kinda creeped too(says me with the tounge piercing)

how safe are they? - im sure ive seen the corset thing before!

They're pretty safe. My brothers GF has one in the back of her neck, I think the idea is that they don't grow out as quick as surface piercings

They are really pretty but take lots of care to heal well. Once they heal they are gorgeous though!

I think some types can also be called micro dermals. They are gorgeous and perfectly safe and much better than surface piercings which most of them would eventually migrate.

hmm here in dundee theres a place theyl do on surfrace piercing with no diamante for 70, diamante for 90 .

sounds like a corset piercing Hell to heal but look amazing once done

Corset piercing is diff, thats surface

edit to elaborate:
Surface piercings (like corsets) have an entry point and exit point to allow for bars rings etc to be put in. Microdermals only have the one entry point and they are put into a layer of skin where its anchored.

Corset piercings usually reject very easily especially if they are done with CBR's and not with proper surface bars and CB D-rings

They don't look as good when they are done properly but they still look amazing! And you much less likely to end up with nasty scars of rejection and will stay in for alot longer x

EDT : I wouldn't trust any piercer who would do a surface piercing with a ring without advising a bar instead so bear that in mind x

It sounds like an implant! My friend had a diamond surgically inserted into the centre of one of her tattoos and she also has a spike coming out of her forehead (which im not a fan of btw lol) she said the forehead implant was grand but she had loads of trouble with the diamond getting infected and being painful, its set in a metal square and the skin is sliced and then the metal plate is put under the tattooed skin. It looks fab though

Iv wanted to get a dermal anchor for years,but iv not found anywhere around here that does them (the one guy I would have trusted to do it had to close down coz he got arthritis)!!they are so pretty

The ones iv seen look more like a tiny 'leg' with a flat foot, then the foot bit is pushed under the skin (after a tiny incision) leaving the leg bit pushing up through the incision so that you can attach jewels or whatever to it!!
