Is it really worth going back to work!?

Me too, makes me think of entertaining gentlemen or something :haha:

lol I was very dubious at first to, I thought what am I letting myself into but I tried the number and it was a really nice lady that spoke to me. It was nothing dodgy it was selling Aloe Vera products. Its kind of a bit like Avon and herbalife but without the big expense to get you started and with more training. I''m enjoying it anyway and very releived its not anything like you were thinking. :cloud9:

not worth it for me. OH gets £1060 a month and £240 wtc so £1,300 a month. He has about £300 left after bills, rent, council tax,car and weekly payment for his son. I only get £80 pm CB and £59 CTC a week so aorund £316 pm. I pay for food shop and Leos milk/nappies and other little bits we need. We have maybe 4-500 left at the end of the month. This is the first month as we were having HB but OH changed job and now we owe them £271 :dohh: I would have been offered a job friday but cant take it as its 6am starts and all the childminders iv asked would charge £10 an hour for such an early start  I should be a childminder at those prices! Im going to maybe do little odd jobs, maybe dog walking to earn a little extra food shop money as a proper job wont be worth it til we have another LO and their in school/nursery

I know most people here are from the uk (waves from Canada) but here in Quebec we have government subsidised daycare - families pay 7$ per day per child regardless of their income (so 140$ a month). Much less stress on young families and has even caused a mini baby boom :haha:

The best part is a recent study shosed the system actually pays for itself - because when mothers go back to work, they pay income taxes, which they wouldn`t otherwise

Go bother your local politician! ...well you can try at least

We can only dream! There is a small amount of subsidised childcare but it's targeted at areas with poverty so mums who don't work can actually take precedence over those who do work :dohh:
In the UK the govt promised to make work pay but it seems they are just targeting families with their cuts atm. It's a sad state when it's not actually beneficial going to work :nope:
I think there's a govt plot to force women to stay at home although on the other hand they are pushing single parents out to work.
Politics!

That is EXACTLY what we need here. :)

Is it 3 when children qualify for 15hrs free childcare? I might need to wait til Leos that age to be worth working :haha:

That's exactly what I'm doing!
Am due baby in a few months and will have 2 LO's under 2 years old. Any job I got wouldn't even cover the cost of 2 childcare places :nope: so I have to wait until we can get some assistance.
So jobs are on hold until LO is 3...although the govt will probably have cancelled that help by the time we're ready for it :dohh:

Yeah it is free, thats why i doing the work from home thing as I hated being on benefits until lo was at nursery age and with no support from the father it was the only way I could see that i could make money for myself. Its worked out well as I now report being self employed to benefits and as its not huge amounts yet still qualify for working tax and feel like i'm actually doing something to earn my money rather than just taking from tax payers.

just my opinion on how I feel mind.

its not worth me going back to work, we are better off if I stay at home with the kids. My husband is self employed so I don't claim benefits for myself but as a couple we get ctc, wtc and we get help with rent and council tax. As I have 3 pre schoolers I would need a huge wage to cover bills, rent, travel to work and not forgetting the childcare - there is no way I would get a job that paid enough. I enjoy being a SAHM too much but once they have started school I am going to get a job that hopefully fits in with their school hours.
