I filled my bath tub with bleach and water to sanitize my daughters bath toys and ran the shower to rinse the bleach before I took the toys out.. I would have worn gloves if I had any but my hands smell like bleach from taking the toys out of the tub even though I rinsed them.
Is bleach even safe to use during pregnancy?
I use all natural cleaners for daily use and bleach once in awhile..
I'm a bit worried that my hands still smell like bleach. It can't be good for the baby.

I go through loads of it as its my craving, the docs have just said as long as I don't actually drink it it's fine! My hands always smell of bleach cus I never use gloves :haha: don't worry. X

Thanks. Im sure some of you noticed I am freaking the f out about a lot of things now. For 2 weeks or so, I've just become so worried about my baby.

I'd be more concerned about toys covered in bleach!! My toddler would have them in his mouth and I'd be paranoid I didnt rinse them enough!! I use Bleach to clean the loo and drains and it gets on my hands etc, it wont harm x

Well, they are bath toys and they will be rinsed very thoroughly. I've rinsed them 3 times. Lol.

Well I havent stopped using my cleaning chemicals and my baby is showing to be healthy... If you were drinking it, id say clearly no stop. But honestly a little bit of it on ur skin from cleaning the chances of it causing anything are sooo slim.

I bleach EVERYTHING! I love the smell and always have. As long as you rinsed them (your hands and the toys) and you aren't drinking the stuff you'll be fine.

Also Pinkie - don't worry about getting extra cautious right now. It's totally normal nearer the end.

Thanks. I'm so emotional and insane most days now.
I want a tuna sandwich and I won't even eat one because boys have a higher chance of getting autism. Blaa. I hate hormones and I just want my baby in my arms :)

I'll chime in and say that I wouldn't worry about it! Two of my sisters were hairdressers while they were pregnant.. using bleach, color and all types of chemicals on their hands. They used gloves when they could, but they breathed it daily! I'd be more worried about being exposed daily.. even if there were a danger, I would expect that a one time exposure wouldn't hurt! Plus, the smell of bleach just lingers forever! Wash and wash and it's still there!

You're doing great, mama! =)

I use dettol anti bac spray to clean all baby things, it doesn't smell as nice a flash though so its boring :haha:

Lyns is right. Think when you go swimming. When you shower later on, even though you've showered straight afterwards, you can smell the chlorine as soon as your skin's wet again. It lasts forever.

TBH I probably use a bit too much. My cats try to get in the toilet once I've bleached it because they go mad for the smell! I think they might have a solvent abuse problem!

I've never heard of the tuna thing before. If you listened to all the advice, you'd never eat anything and that's definitely more dangerous for your lo. xx
