Do you have a children's centre or mother/toddler groups nearby?
DH is SATD 3 days a week and he takes LO to 2 different playgroups as well as to the swings/to his mums/just generally for walks in the village.
Even just taking him to the supermarket seems to stop the boredom setting in.
Do you know what activities they do at nursery? Maybe you could replicate those at home?
