is my LO feeding too much?

Our little boy will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and is guzzling 5oz's every 2-3 hours :Shock: is this too much?

Hi hun. U can never over feed a baby. There is a growth spurt at around 6 weeks & babies feed more during them. If your baby is taking more than he needs he would bring it back & get sick. If he's happy with what he's taking there is nothing to worry about. Babies are different hun xx

at first he was sicking it up but now hes keeping down all 5 oz's

My LO was the same. I remember because i was annoyed the small 4oz bottles were condemed to the cupboard forever more and I shouldnt have got so many lol.

Its fine, I was worried too but the health visitors put me at ease. They said to me if he was overweight they would suggest things (dont know what, mabye hungry baby milk?) but they said let him drink upto 7OZ!! if thats what he wanted. I found by giving him what he wanted I had a very happy and content baby!! x

i was wondering about this as i started giving sophia 4oz from friday and now shes polishing them off and wanting more but im scared of giving her too much and her getting overweight as my aunties baby was overweight cuz she used to have too much

yeah 5 ozs did seem alot to me but hes happy and content so thats the main thing i suppose

yey..Wriggley's back!! lol. missed your madness from 3rd tri. your little boy is soooo cute. anyways, back to the issue in hand, my LO was having about that much at that age. she now has 5 x 6oz instead of 6 x 5oz (she started going longer between feeds and I didn't think that it was a good idea to feed her less as she is getting bigger so they need to eat more!) xxx

Glad i saw this thread. My Lo is 5 weeks tmorrow. I think she is having a growth spurt as she drunk 3 lots of 5oz one after the other yesterday afternoon(with only a normal amount of spit up). because she was feeding so much she did not get enough sleep so was very grissly. The MIL was around last night and said "she cant be hungry", "she must have colic", "maybe she is hungry /upset because i took her out in the cold!!!!" (one hour and tonnes of layers). aaaaaagggghhhhh!

mine did at that age!! he was born 4 weeks early at 5lb and now at 4.5 months hes 16lb something!!!!!!!! he guzzled and guzzled and guzled. LO will sick up what he doesnt want, the feeding also calms down too. At 3 months freddie was on 9oz bottles every 2-3, now at 4.5 he is happy on 7oz every 4 hours.

its extremely hard to overfeed a baby. Never hold back on how much milk you give, they obviously need it xxx
