Is SMA staydown the same as other comfort milks?

thanks Lizzy, can you keep it that long? Maybe wrong but hv said they keep for about 4 weeks. Might be different with this make though.
How long do I have to keep chilled for, put it in freezer for 10 mins as lo wants her bottle.

If I did warm it up for her is she ok to have it like this, as she is used to thicker feed with the comfort?

I always make up a few bottles in advance of the water and keep in the fridge rather than boil and cool really quickly, much easier and it is perfectly ok to do so (prob better than raising the temp of your freezer with boiling water and poss upsetting the food in there).
Water needs to be really cold to mix properly as you need the powder to dissolve before it warms again / goes to room temp (the warmth thickens the feed and if it happens before it has properly dissolved you will get a blockage)
All tins should be used within 4wks of opening - you can see the texture change over time.

Thanks Ouch. Unfortunately my little Diva wont drink it, I think maybe because she likes it really warm, I did try and give her a bottle with it warmer but she just gagged on it.

On the plus side what she did try did stay down, but she just doesnt seem to like the taste, so back to the drawing board.

oh dear.... at least it did what it said on the tin...
I personally would continue offering it (making sure she is really hungry first!), they have such limited tastes everything takes a while to get used to.
Ella was on Nutramigen 1 Hypoallergenic for a while and that smelt VILE - like mature cheese sauce and she refused to open for that but when she realised that was all she was going to get she relented, same with the WySoy which smells of potato...
if it works it has to be a better way of controlling the reflux than using any meds xxx

hmm yeah maybe your right, were at the Dr's tomorrow, so will see what they say and suggest. Just out of interest are all the other AR formula's made then same way?

What concerns me with Millie is the mucus and is the milks we are giving aiding to it? She is still very rattly and I mean very rattly, even the hv said she would like it checked but thinks it is just mucus in her throat as seems very positional. So this could be why she is being sick, trying to get rid of the mucus.

Ive been the Dr's toda and he confirmed Millie has reflux and has prescribed Gaviscon for her. He said once you find a milk they like, best to stick with it if you can. Will give it a go and up her water in take.

We switched to SMA Staydown a few months ago - that was the 3rd milk we'd tried and it works brilliantly. Sophie is like a different baby now. Previously we were going through 6 or more outfits per day and going out was really difficult but ever since we switched it's been so different. She is rarely sick at all now.

xx

We tried all formulas and sma number 1 worked for a few weeks with the gaviscon but the salt content in the gaviscon is horrendous and i wasnt happy to leave my little man on it, so i did some research and it was between sma staydown and enfamil AR, sma staydown had so many bad reviews i didnt even try it, went to the gp, requested he prescribe enfamil AR which is only available on prescription here in the uk, and it was like a miracle, worked a treat, no further sickness since he started on it at 4 months! HTH xxx
