I'm so glad it's come round
Really excited to make a start :)

Is there anything I need to take with me?
So far all I've got is last months FF chart and I'll print this months tomorrow after I've put in my temp.

This might sound gross but I've got my + OPKs one from this montha nd one from last month, I won't need those will I?!

I'm prepared for an internal examination and I actually hope they do one just to have more 'results' under our belt lol

What sort of questions should I ask?
I want to know what tests we're having and when and how the results will come back (and test that will maybe be taken in the future)
and then what will happen when the results come back.

But other than that I can't think of anything else to ask and I think they'll probably answers these questions without me asking
I don't want to sit there like a plum when they say 'Any questions?' :haha:

xx

Hi hon

Good luck for your appointment.
Have you had blood tests done e.g. FSH, LH etc? You could ask if they have the results of those. I had to have mine re-done at my first appt. We also got DH's SA result.
Tbh not much happened at my first appt and I haven't really had many tests. So I don't think i'll be any help to you. I really just wanted to say Good Luck!! I hope it goes well for you
xx

Thanks hun O:)

Nope all I had done were blood count, thyroid, kidneys, prolactin liver things like that tested.
And OH had to be refered to give in a SS, that's on the 17th.

My GP ssaid there was nothing else she could do

:)

if you've not had any investigations yet then they'll go through your history with you and then make the decision of whats next depending on what they think might be the issue :)

i would presume they'll send you for a 21day blood test to see if you ovulate and maybe a 3 day blood test to check for PCOS. they will probably arrange an ultra sound scan to check your uterus and ovaries too.

i'd had all of that done before my first appointment so all we did was chat, its different for eveyone but lots of luck  its a step closer to your BFP!

Yep I'm expecting to be poked with needles a few times after the appointmnet :haha:

How come everyone had tests done before their appointment and my GP didn't do anything but general bloods!!? :(

Thanks hun :hugs:

yeah get used to blood tests! *rolls eyes* i'm a pro at them now haha

the only reason i had all that done before hand was because i started bleeding before AF and getting bad pelvic pains. i was seeing a gynaecologist but it had nothing to do with ttc. they did scans and blood tests but told me nothing was wrong. then we reached the 1 yr mark so i was referred to a fertility specialist and they took over :)

Good job I'm ok with them then!
Will OH need any cos he say he's not having any bloods taken
He's like a little girl :haha:

Each GP is different. If they were referring you to a FS then they might just figure they might as well wait for all of that information to go right to the FS.

Hi ya!

When I was there they also did a chlamydia test for me - just a swab from my area...thankfully I was well prepared down there!! Kinda embarrassing as when she tried to pull the instrument out afterwards it seems I was erm, clamping onto it a bit and she had to ask me to let go

Other than that she just looked over all my tests I had and got me to book in for my HSG and gave DH sample pot!!

Good luck..let us know how you get on xx

my OH was never asked to go for any blood tests, all they need from them is a sample for the sperm analysis, lets face it our fellas get away lightly :P

Yeah they do!

I've just gone to my house to find a letter from the hospital and I have an ultrasound booked for Saturday :happydance:

One more step closer :)

xx

oh thats great honey :) its all happening! the ultra sound scan isnt that bad at all, in fact its quite interesting if they show you the screen haha

well its one way to spend an afternoon... lay back, eat your popcorn and watch your uterus ;) hahaha

you gotta laugh or else you'd cry thats what i say ;)

i hope it goes ok tomorrow, i'm sure it will but let us know how you get on and what they suggest for you :) best of luck x

p.s you and a couple of other nice girlies on here cheered me up tonight so thanks!

i think most fs go the same way in the uk on the first appointment, 21 day bloods (whether you have had them or not), internal exam, pelvic us appointment referral, hsg referral, SA pot and form for OH, follow up appointment in 4-6 months to discuss the results of all those tests/treatment of any problems assuming youre not pregnant by then. It's pretty bland but that seems to be the way most of them go.

I took 3 months of charts with me and listed all of my pcos symptoms as i was pretty sure that was what was wrong with me (i was right). Also I wrote down all of my questions before i went in as i always forget and i would have done without my note!

4 - 6 months?!
I want my results back before then!!

Yep me too
I've only been charting two months so I've got last months and so far this month O:)
