Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone knows the waiting times for IUI and IVF in Birmingham? I know they will vary slightly from place to place but an idea would be great! Im already under an fs and am waiting until dh's next sa to see how many 'good' swimmers there are to influence the decision! Hope that makes sense?
Thanks ladies x

Hi there - I'm in Birmingham, but I'm afraid it's the donor egg waiting times I know - so I don't think I'm much help....but i thought I'd say hellooooo

we were under the womens hospital in Birmingham, but the waiting list for donor eggs there is 3 years - so we have gone to the care clinic in Northampton

3 years?!! That's crazy!
You would think they would make it easier to egg share if the wait is that crazy wouldn't you? I wanted to but i cant as i don't have regular cycles :( Dont see why it matters though as they stimulate you like crazy before anyway, don't they? Just makes the whole process harder and accessible to less people! Grr! Rant over! hee hee x

Hi

I cant answer your question but thought I would say hi as I am at a simular stage to you.

We are under the FS and I have to go for a HyCoSy and hubby is to do another SA and then we are getting referred for IVF, our next appointment isnt until Feb though. I was wondering the same as you but for the Blackpool area. I have no idea what the wait could be. I beleive you can get a consultaion in about 3 months from being referred but I dont know how long you have to wait for treatment. Its so frustrating.

What a shame you couldnt do the egg share :hugs:

When is you nest FS appointment?

Hi!
My next appointment is 30th December so feels a long way off! Will definitely ruin the christms period for us as dh has his next sa on 23rd and then it'll be a tense wait to see if there is any improvement! We are considering doing a private on in between just to give us a bit more of an answer, whether it is good or bad, it helps you prepare!

Oh no, the 23rd!! Thats is a nightmere for Christmas. I hope you can bopth still enjoy some parts of Xmas.

The worste bit is the waiting around, hubby is thinking of doing his SA a week on Wednesday but we wont know the results until 14th Feb, we are really hoping it will improve. We got > 1m last time :growlmad: I think I will get my results for the hycosy right after its done so that better.

I have never considered going private for any tests, do you know how much they charge for a SA??

I hope you get some possitive news on the 30th and you can see the new year looking forward to better luck TTC in 2011 :hugs:

The sa is £265 i think. Not too bad if it gives us a bit of closure either way x

Thats not bad, a bit too expensive for us with Xmas coming up but well worth it if it helps.

I will keep my fx for you hun and keep an eye on your journey :hugs:

hi there :) i know this is an older post but i was just wondering whether anyone found out more about the ivf waiting times in birmingham? X

Hey!
I'm with my specialist on 30th dec so should find out then, will update when i know xx

Hey Dreamofabean!

Thanks...I'm with Birmingham Womens also. My last appointment with the FS was really quick (in and out in like 3 minutes!)...we were highly recommended to consider IVF as been trying for over 3 years now and nothing. My bits and bobs look ok but they dont think i ovulate consistently...DHs sperm aint great either.

We were told the whole process from referral to treatment can take up to 3 months. She said something about sending an application for funding...once agreed treatment can take a further 3 months. This was about 2 months ago and we haven't heard anything yet...so was just wondering what other people's experiences have been....feeling nervous but excited about IVF...pray to God it works  but also aware of the success rates nots being as great as i'd initially thought for IVF!

Hi there, hope this will help a bit...

As of today, I'm PUPO through IVF at B'ham Womens.

My Investigations started in Nov '09. Once we had a reason (blocked tubes & endo), I was officially referred for IVF at beginning of May.
I got a letter (can't remember when) to say my funding was approved & we were invited to a group info evening on 6th Sep. From there, we had a consent signing appt booked for 3 weeks later & I ended up having to change it which added another 2 weeks & brought us to beginning of Oct.

Consent signing & Blood tests were 11th Oct, & then my cycle dates weren't the best, so I had another 4 weeks before I could start Downreg. Finally started DR on 8th Nov, Stims started on 1st Dec, EC 15th Dec & ET today.

They've been very good at the womens. Hani Shah was the consultant I saw & Elizabeth (Fertility Nurse) is Lovely. x

Hi teapot!! Ooh I'm so excited for you! Sounds like everythings been going according to the times they predicted for you! Wishing you all the luck with your treatment Hun!

We saw Hani Shah the first time we went and he was great. But last appointment we had a different Fs, a women who was really unpleasant. She talked sooo loudly that I was worried everyone in the waiting room could hear! Then she asked husband why his sperm was worse this time compared to last test he had! as if he had done something awful to cause it!I hope we don't have her again! Everyone else has been really lovely though. I hope we get the funding letter soon!

Let us know how you get on teapot...I have everything crossed for you :)

lots of love and babydust x x x

Hi there ladies! How are you all getting on with your treatment? I hope and pray everything is running smoothly for you and sending lots and lots of baby dust your way :)
Well since my last post nothing much has changed EXCEPT today i got a letter saying hubby and i are near the top of the waiting list! All that time i've been waiting to hear if we had funding and was getting worried in case we hadn't! In the letter it says i need to call them to confirm whether we still want treatment...HELL YEAH!!
As you can probably sense i'm not excited at all lol! Whats the next step if you don't mind me asking? Will we be invited to the group meeting next? So nervous and excited and scared and hopeful and a million other emotions! Hubby however is asleep...said his soldiers need their beauty sleep in prep! Lol x x x

Oh fairy thats great news!!! :)
Teapot fxed for you!
Our consultant has referred us to Midland Fertility Services :) I have called them and once they get our referral they will send a funding app to the PCT. I was told it takes 2-3 weeks for a decision. Then there is no waiting list at the clinic! Whoop!! We paid to have initial consultation and baseline tests done privately so if we're approved funding we can skip straight to treatment planning......so excited!!x
