IUI

Hey ladies! This is my first round of IUI also!

I am trying to stay off these sites a bit so I don't get obsessive lol. My cramps that I had been getting since my IUI were way better yesterday. I only felt very slight cramps in my uterus. I think the other cramps have been because of my over used ovaries lol because it was around them and in the back like my O pain. My gums are slightly swollen today and yesterday morning but they faded throughout the day yesterday. I tested for my trigger again this morning and it is still there but just barely visible without squinting. This morning when my DH got up (at 445) I wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to fall back asleep because I had slight nausea. That's about all that is going on with me lol. Hope everyone is well.

Dreaming- the TWW is torture, everything seems like a sign.

Rebecca- sounds like a great amount of follies, hopefully your lining thickens up! I worried about this with the clomid also.

TTC-How was the scan??

Still not ready. Cd13 my biggest follies were 13 mm and 12 mm... I get another scan on Saturday

Rebecca isn't 17mm good?

TTC- I hope you progress and have some good news Saturday!

I just came back from monitoring, according to the lady ultra sounds tech my biggest is 18 today and I have a 13 and 15. So trigger on Saturday night and IUI Monday.

I was hoping for more follicles, but I'm happy to have 1 good one

Hi everyone,
First time posting to this board. Just turned 30 and LTTTC for about 2 years now. I have PCOS and I do not ovulate on my own, at least not lately. We did the 1 year natural route before trying clomid for 3mos. Then I was referred to a fertility specialist who put me on Metformin twice a day to help my PCOS and combined that with Femara. I think the first month on Femara I had a very early miscarriage (May 2015) but my period was only about 3 days late and I only got a very faint positive for a couple days, it never darkened march, and then my period started and I tested again with a BFN.
My HSG is clear, DH's SA was awesome- normal and high numbers, and every month I seem to have good follicle growth. Last month they added a trigger shot, we had TI and I definitely felt like I had ovulation cramps following the injection. Despite what seemed to be a successful cycle, my period arrived even a little early which I hoped to be IB but another BFN and definitely normal period. Monthly blood test on CD 2 also confirmed not pregnant.
My FS has suggested IUI this time, still taking femara CD 3-7 and the trigger shot after confirming follicle growth but adding IUI. If it makes sense I'm hesitant b/c it feel like the more things I try, the less options I have left. I don't understand why IUI would do much for us when his SA had great results. I want to do everything to have a baby but it just feels so hard and starting to become unnatural, I'm so frustrated and upset that it has to be so difficult. I have to decide next Tuesday if I want to add the IUI...I feel like I'm leaning toward doing it but the success rates are so depressing at a max of 20% on average...I know, natural conception rates are basically the same but I feel like it should be higher when are doing so much more to make it happen. Plus my insurance does not cover infertility...I mean DH and I are willing to pay anything at this point it just sometimes is so discouraging and hope it's all worth it. A sticky BFP would make anything worth it.
Sorry for the long post, just so disheartened by it all and frustrated by everyone else's BFP announcements and need to vent.
Any thoughts on this? Any advice or tricks to help IUI be more successful?

Hello and welcome!

You probably had a chemical in May :(
We are doing the IUI because of DH's numbers, it will increase our chances although I'm not too hopeful.

If you feel like you haven't given it a shot yet, maybe you can add the IUI in a cycle or two after you feel like you tried without it.
IUI is deffintely not the end of the road, there is also IVF, but hopefully you shouldn't need that.

Good luck making your decision

Name- your situation is very similar to mine but my dh had low morphology.

I'm doing IUi because my insurance covers it and I have to in order for them to cover IVF. If I had to pay out of pocket I think I would go straight to ivf... I feel the rates with ivf are so promising. That is my light at the end of the tunnel ...
I did 3 cycles of clomid after 10 months of trying naturally ....so I just tell myself most girls I know who ovulated regularly had to try for 8 months. So I feel we still have 5 cycles left!

How much is everyone paying for IUi? I hear such different costs. If my insurance didn't cover it it would be $4,200 ...I thinks that's crazy for such low success rates.

I was also surprised that IUI does not improve chances as drastically as I thought it would however my doctor said you have a 20% chance naturally and 30% with IUI. I keep trying to remind myself that there was only a 10% chance of rain on my wedding day and it rained all through the entire ceremony so that extra 10% is still a good chance. My DH has a lower number for motility (still within normal range though) but the doctors and nurses kept saying what a nice sample he gave for my IUI. It was actually kind of funny the way they kept complimenting his sample. I also have read the sperm washing they do before the IUI help those little guys move faster so hopefully that also improves our chances.

TTC- I'm not sure exactly how much it would cost since luckily my insurance does cover it. I am really hoping that IUI takes even if it takes a few tries because I don't think my insurance covers IVF.

Rebrandy -your absolutely right everything seems like a symptom and after TTC for 2 years I am so tired of disappointments so I try not to focus on them too much. That being said I am now 10 DPIUI, I have noticed my breasts are a bit sore, I have been craving eggs and meat so I guess my body needs protein. I crave protein when I'm PMSing but usually its peanut butter not meat. I also had a dream last night that I was with a whole bunch of women (maybe they were you guys) and we were all getting tested to see if our IUI's took. Majority of the women got positive results along with ME!!! I hope that this is some kind of prediction but most likely it's just my brain trying to process what I want to happen. Well, I guess all I can do is wait and see. Appointment on Thursday only a few more days till I know one way or the other.

Dreaming and Rbandy, when is your blood test?
TTC- when is your iui?
I took my trigger last night and it went ok! I was nervous just getting the needle in, but when I finally had the guts to do it it was super easy and painless.
Weird thing happened, I got a message from walgreens that I had a prescription ready. I went to pick it up and it's progesterone suppository capsules. But the doctor and nurse never mentioned needing to take progesterone. So I have a dilemma, do I take them, or wait until iui tomorrow and ask them?

Rebecca - I went on Saturday and my follicle was 19 but lining only 4 mm ...so I asked if I could take anything like progesterone to thicken it...she said don't take progesterone and instead prescribed me estrogen (estradiol). She acted like progesterone was bad. Idk. I wouldn't take it unless they specifically told u to.

Today, Sunday, I went back and my follicle was 20 mm and lining 9 mm! I give myself the ovidrel shot tonight at go in for insemination tomorrow morning and again Tuesday! I'm very excited!

Yay! We're on the same exact schedule!
I'm doing my iui tomorrow
My lining at cd11 was also around 4 so they gave me estradiol as well. Looks like it's doing he job because it was about 9mm on Friday.
I called be doctor and the progesterone is for 2 days after insemination. Apparently I will be taking it twice daily until the pregnancy test.
Good luck tomorrow!

Oh wow did they prescribe you that because of a blood test or does everyone get progesterone? All they told me is after insemination I would come in for a progesterone test?

Hope your IUi went well today! Mine was so quick. I go back tomorrow for 2nd insemination and then we can be tww buddies! And may have a wonderful Labor Day!

I guess my doctor does things differently. I think they prescribe to everyone after the IUI. They have me taking progesterone until the preg test which is 2 weeks from today.

Insemination was quick and painless.
Unfortunately I'm not sure it's going to work because the doctor was not too pleased with DH's numbers 😥😥

My dh wasn't great either he had 27 mill but morphology was only 2%

Anxiously awaiting for Labor Day! That's the day I get to take my blood test.
Started the progesterone today. Still taking he estridol.
How's everyone else?

AF is due tomorrow. I am just waiting for her to arrive.

I go to get my progesterone levels checked tomorrow and get my pregnancy test the day after Labor Day. Going to be such a long wait : (

Rebandy when do u get your blood test??

I'm suppose to call if AF does or doesn't arrive tomorrow to schedule test or to call in my next round.

The waiting is the worst.
