Hello all,

I've taken a few months off TTC, but I'm considering IVF now. My clinic put my perscriptions for IVF into 2 different pharmacies and the first one I got a quote from says it'll be $4300 per refill. I haven't been able to get a hold of the other one yet, but wanted to find out where others have gotten their meds and how much you spent. I'm paying for everything out of pocket and I don't want to go broke, but I really want to get pregnant, so I'm trying to find the best deal on the medication.

Thanks for your input.

I ordered mine from IVFmeds.com - they're overseas so they were quite a bit cheaper, and the meds showed up about a week after I ordered them and I didn't pay for rush shipping. My RE told me they're the exact same as what you'd get here in the states.

I go to Topix.com, fertility meds. Individual people sell their leftover meds. I only buy from people who go through paypal or have a fedex cod account. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I can't tell you how much it was, since I stayed out of that part (more because I didn't want to know than anything else) but we used Alexander Twin Pharmacy. They can next day meds to you if it's necessary, and we had so much happen at a moment's notice that it really came in handy.

And then, of course, I found out it didn't matter because I didn't respond to the meds and what I had wasn't going to do me any good....:dohh:

For estrace or crinone, Target, Walgreens, and Walmart carry those and they may be covered by your insurance since they aren't specifically used for fertility treatments. So if you're in the States, it can't hurt to go check that out.

I've also heard good things about Freedom Pharmacy, but haven't used them.

My original quote of $4300 was with Freedom Fertility. Estrace is covered by my insurance, I had used it before during an IUI cycle.

I talked with my RE and she said they won't send my prescriptions to IVF Meds since it's out of the country.

I'm still waiting to get a quote from MDR, I'll take a look at Alexander Twin.

Thanks for all your input ladies. This is getting quite expensive.

I know at least 4 or 5 other people that buy their meds from other people like ourselves who had leftover meds, they have always been unopened and correctly sealed and refrigerated if needed and I have not had a problem; just make sure you use paypal or meet in person or something like that. Seriously, I got gonal f for $200 for a 900IU pen instead of $750 from a pharmacy. My friend and I paid a third of what any pharmacy will charge you!!!
I thought it was weird at first, but then I wheeled and dealed online and got great deals and it made this whole ivf thing affordable! :happydance:
Good luck!

What kind of websites are you looking at and what kind of meds? we really want to have a baby but paying out of pocket is sooo hard.....

I talked with another pharmacy (MDR) yesterday and they told me that my insurance will cover the oral meds, but not the injections, so their cost was $3800.

I'm not sure of all the meds my doctor has prescribed. I know there are 3 different injections before egg retrieval and I can get generics if they are cheaper: Gonal-f, Menopur, Ganirelix. Then there is the injection to stimulate ovulation, I've taken Ovidrel in the past, not sure what is prescribed this time. And I know estrace (which is covered) and progesterone are also prescribed.
