Hello everyone

I had no idea where to post so thought maybe here was best?

I was reading the news yesterday and they have researched 15,000 IVF babies and if you have IVF there is a 56 in 100 chance you'll have a boy (and if you concieve naturally its 51 in 100 chance of a boy) but if you use ICSI you're more likely to concieve a girl!

I found this really interesting so just thought id share lol

Hi hun, I moved your thread over to the LTTTC section. :hugs:

My hubby was talking about this yesterday.

My theory (and I think it's based on fact) is that with conventional IVF the sperm have to get to the egg themselves, and the boy sperms are quicker swimmers than the girl ones, so I'm surprised the IVF boy ratio isn't a bit higher. I don't have a theory for the ICSI girls mind you! Other than girls are better looking than boys, or maybe more embryologists are males, and so pick the girlie sperm!

This is interesting. I did ICSI and have twin girls!

the boy/girl rates for ivf depend on when they get transferred.

day 3 transfers give a 50-50 for boy/girl
day 5 transfers are more likely to be boys

don't know for the ICSI... maybe after washing the sperm, there are more X-spermies left?

This is interesting! I had ICSI, and I now have a girl!

I know I've already commented by my OH hasn't had a girl born in teh family for around 16 years!! I deffo hope we got a girl from ICSI lol
