January JellyBean mummies

Fraggles, I know what you mean. That's how I felt last night. I'm so glad today I finally got Mackenzie to take a dummy. Now she lasts longer between her feeds

I took her to be weighed today and she has gained 1.8lb (800g) She now weighs 9.9lb (4.5kg) I forgot to ask them to measure her. Do they routinely check your baby's height over there? I suppose I'll have to do it myself but don't know how accurate my measuring will be. Have you ladies got a footprint/handprint of your LO's? I still haven't done Mackenzies and she is growing so quickly. If you have, what do you do it with?

Hi girls,

I'm in absolute agony, my back and tummy are hurting almost constantly now, pretty sure I left UTI too long and probably in my kidneys now. Had first day of antibiotics now though so hoping they take the edge off. I'm a bit hesitant to take any pain killers since Fearne will already be having the antibiotics in my milk, don't want to add any other toxics for her body to deal with!

Fraggles and Jolene hope your LO's settle down soon, its exhausting when they like that for more than one night (I'm still having flashbacks from those first 3 nights lol)

xx

I got footprints from the hospital. Avery has long feet, they barely fit in the space provided. I'm putting the certificate in her memory box.

Right must be mental but im adding my before and after belly shots, excuse the underwear

the bump pic was taken at 40 weeks and 3 days, and my tum now was at 8 days since birth

Jo, you're looking GREAT! I hope you feel better soon, damn UTI, don't we go through enough with little babies. We should be exempt from all these other ailments. Thanks for thinking of me. Our feeding is going a lot better now that we can use the dummy. It helps us space out the feeds a lot more :yipee:

I know things work differently in the northern hemisphere, lol but who does your 6 week check up? I have been told to take her to the paediatrician who checked her out at the hospital. My SIL takes her kids to a General Practioner (GP) who specialises in children. The paediatician charges 3x more than the GP but obviously has the certificate and therefore the extra qualifications to do so. Do you think it's necessary to pay that much more, she looks pretty healthy to me!!??

Jo :hugs: hope you feel better soon! And you look fab! Again you cant even tell you just had a baby :sulk:

I feel like a terrible mummy as I really have no idea if/when kieran has gas pains

If your not sure then Kieran is probably not having gas pains. Im sure you would know. its an aweful sounding cry.

I did my daughters footprints when she was 7 days old with a special baby kit taht was given to me at my baby shower. Then I got her footprint with her name and weight and birthday tattoo's on my calf. I bought a regular ink pad for Quinn and did his footprint when he was 7 days old tooo and i plan to get the same tattoo for him.

So ive been to the dr today for quinns last circ check and its all looking good. I also asked him to listen to Quinns chest and he said he agrees its mucous but its not in his lungs so no meds. he said to use a saline nasal spray 4 times a day and suction the mucous out. If its green bring him back in. Do you think i could just drop some breastmilk in his nose and that would do the same? I know one of you ladies used it for a blocked tear duct and I hear its great at fixing minor problems with babies. Do you think it would work to losen the mucous?
I hope so cuz i dont have the money for the nasal spray for another week and I dont want him to suffer anylonger. I do however need to find taht bulb suction thing....iknow i had one with mydaughter but cant seem to find it.

Laura yes do try the breastmilk aka liquid gold! I used it in kieran's eye and it cleared up in 2 days.

Morning second night went well although still trying to establish bf but I hope we get there I would say she's only had one good feed so far, seeing a supporter today so that may help, Mia's cord is bleeding and looks like it will fall of so think I will call mw later as she's not due till monday

:hugs: abstersmum. It's tough at first but does get easier.

Laura, I use breastmilk for Mackenzie's nose and it works wonders!

Jolene we just see a regular GP here for the 6/8 week check. Last time all they did were check testes and hips and a general look over etc.

abstermum do the midwives in your area not come out daily at first. Jacob's cord bled when a nappy caught it and it proceeded to fall off and heal beautifuly.

Hi ladies how is everyone today?

Have any of the BFing ladies noticed a decrease in feedings around the one month mark? Kieran seems to be eating less now and am not sure why

Morning ladies!

Sohonestly I dont want to complain becuase sleep deprivation is one of the things i hate most about a newborn BUT.....

Quinn is not even 3 weeks old yet and last night he slept for 7 hours.....yes i said 7 hours. its too soon for him to sleep through the night isnt it? My dr said not to bother waking him at night as i need sleep too but 7 hours! I was happy when he went 5 straight hours and that was great but i think 7 is just too long at this point. And he didn't even wake up on his own. I got up cuz my daughter was awake and woke him up. Should i be worried? I dont want him to start loosing weight because hes sleeping.

Went to doctors and got Mia seen by health visitor her cord needs a good clean and will probably fall off within the week, mw doesn't come every day but I can see one anytime I want just need to call them apparently

Jcoleman welcome :)

Catherine thats fabulous well done mummy! and B(o)(o)bies!!

Laura, I think 7 hours is quite long tbh especially as he was low birth weight, but if your doctors has said its ok, must be ok

Mia seems to be feeding well she fed for an hour had both boobs, my nipples are a bit sore now but not too bad, it's all a bit new as Abby was ff but so far so good
