January JellyBean mummies

Hope your eye is better soon Rachael!

I got the medela swing pump too, love love love it! Well worth the money!

I just ate loads pizza and chips. I will never ever be thin!

Anyone else eat like massive portions and always hungry from breastfeeding?

me! I am always hungry. I munch pretty much constantly- biscuits, cheese, crisps, etc. And it's always junk food because it's gotta be something I can eat one-handed.

I am always hungry! I keep getting scared that I am going to put weight on but, so far I have been lucky and an losing weight. I am now 4 lb's lighter then before I fell pregnant! Really don't know how????

I always settle Bryce at 7pm and then he wakes for a top up at 8pm and is in his Moses basket by 9pm. I feed him laying on my bed and then make sure he is in a nice deep sleep before I move him so he doesn't get that falling reflex then.

He is actually getting quite good at settling himself to sleep during the day in his cot. Although he doesn't stay asleep for long in there yet but, every day he is improving. :)

He is 2 months old today!!! :D

meee I'm eating too much im sure, decided dieting is too hard right now so i'm stepping up the exercise from tomorro onwards, lots of walking with pushchair! x

Tracy the book we have is secrets of the baby whisperer. I watched her programme on home and health when I was on mat leave with Phoebe. Shame Tracy Hogg died her programme was great.

Jade - I can't stop eating either, including chocolate. I have a thing for giant chocolate buttons and maltesers :s like Naomi im still losing weight and am curently 6lb pre-pregnancy. Got another 2 stone at least to lose (was and still am a big girl)

As for pumps can't remember who asked but I use the avent isis iq uno. Can't really fault it is very good and quick only drawback is the power cable, it sits on the top of the unit and if you catch it or move the cable it turns itself off. With Phoebe I had the avent manual one and found it useless

happy 2months Bryce, Joe will be 3 months on wed or 2 months lol whatever you go by!!!

He goes down between 8.30 and 9pm then wakes at 3am and 6am, i think thats whats gonna be his normal routine from now as thats what he has been doing for a couple of weeks, give or take half hour!
He has stopped being sick too so not sure what that was all about

I use the lansinoh affinity pump.... I only pump for about 5-6 minutes and get about 2 oz on each side... I don't know if I need to be pumping longer, because I still feel very full in the breast after I'm done pumping. But after 5-6 minutes, no more milk comes out! maybe I have a crappy pump.... LO can empty me out in about 10 minutes! haha!

I have a medela swing but only get 1 oz at a time wish I could get more any advice

ARGH!!! Just go on the scales and I weigh just under 13 and a half stone! To be fair, this is less than when the midwife weighed me at 8 wks but still more than I had weighed before pregnancy - but probably not by too much.

Joanna I pump after fearne's morning feed usually after school run, once I'm set up she usually like a little feed again so I give her the same side she had last time and the full boob I pump whilst she's feeding, that can help let down on the breast your pumping. Also not watching it helps, I put tv on or talk to Fearne. And drink lots of water! The more you pump the easier it gets so try pump once a day at the same time! X

That's great Tracy you lost all your pg weight then! I have just under a stone to lose to pre preg so your doing fab!! X

am i the only one that is almost never hungry then? I dont eat until about noon lately but ive been trying to eat earlier...although ive never been one for early breakfast. i dont really eat again until dinner time. Im also never thirsty.

This is probably why I now weigh 3lbs less than pre-preg.

Anyone know if its possible to make less milk in the evening time than you do during the rest of the day? I know it could be cluster feeding mixed with the 6wk growth spurt but after dinner time my boobs dont feel full. They are soft and feel pretty empty to me from dinner til bed time.
Also if you pump at the same time of day every day....does that tell your boobs to make more milk at that time of day or just to make more milk for each feeding?
Im goign to try to drink more during the day too to help.

Tracey i weigh the same and have gained a bit this week, am absolutely gutted  but its prob as I have been in bed with my back.

Alex slept in his cot until 4am :wohoo: that was from 11pm. He is asleep now and self settling in his moses :)

Me too  The whole only having one hand thing means I seem to live on chocolate at the moment, nice to know I'm not the only one :winkwink:

Yes, whilst at BF clinic I asked about this as I had been told we make less in the late afternoon by my HV. The lady at the clinic said it is true but that when our boobs feel less full it is the really good nutrient rich milk and babies are fussy it is because they have to work a bit harder to get it. I asked if I should drink more and was told I could but that this unfull feeling was good because it meant my boobs were supplying a lot of high fat milk.

In terms of routine me and Jennifer don't really have one and I won't be trying to think about one until she is at least 6 months. In terms of sleep she usually settles for the night at about 11pm-1am. Recently it's been 11pm and she wakes at 2am for a feed and again at 4 and 6am. Occasionally she goes through the night till 6am.
During the day I'm trying to let her put herself to sleep when she is really tired, it worked earlier and she was down for 30 mins, think she had a nightmare though as now she is screaming!!!!! gtg bye xxxx

Gosh you lot can talk!! Had about 6 pages to read lol.

Toby is sleeping but could wake up anytime for a bottle. We've been to baby and mum group this morning and he dropped off as we left at half 12 and has been asleep ever since.

Evevryone seems to be getting some kind of routine going even if they're not trying to it seems to me from readion your messages. Go jellybeans! Toby tends to go down about 8-8:30 then I wake him for a dreamfeed about 11 and then he tends to go till 2:30-3 then back down till 6:30-7. Although last night I fed him at 10:50pm and he woke at 2:20 and then slept till 7:30! His daddy had to be up at 5:30 to drive to london for meeting this morning too and I thought he would wake up but he didn't, so I was very pleased.

Congrats sarah thats awesome news. When do you move or is it too soon to know that yet?

Jade I really hope you get sorted soon hun.

I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks but I was 12 and a half stone last time I checked and that was just before I stopped bfing at 4 weeks. So not sure what I will be now, I'm thinking more cos I love going out with the pram and stopping in a coffee shop for a latte and a cake! Maybe I should start replacing it with skinny coffees and granola bars lol! I was just under 12 stone pre preg cos I was on weight watchers and I wanna start that again I think but I am intrigued by the Closer diet I think Emily mentioned?!!?

We are trying to organise a christening for Toby in the summer and its a nightmare trying to coordinate everyones diaries and find a date he grandparents, godparents to be and family and friends can do. Obvioslu most important is us and immediate adults but still its crazy! Anyone else thinking of christening or a naming ceremony??

I just wanna say as well to all you bfing ladies you are doing an amazing job! I am totally in awe of you as some of the cluster feeds you talk about and make it through evry day would have me broken! So well done to all of you and your super boobies!!

xxxx

Well, kind of. I was on a diet pre-pregnancy and was 12 and a half but then she weighed me at 8 weeks and I was 13 and a half and I'm just under that now. The strange thing is that looking in the mirror I am thinner than I was before virtually everywhere except my stomach which has turned into a giant hanging apron of fat - the rest of me is back to normal or maybe even less than that (well excpet boobs which have put on a size) but my stomach is hideous, fat and hanging. Is it ever going to go away? Am I going to be left with a hanging apron of skin that hangs down to my knees once the fat leaves the apron? Has anyone else got a fat apron?

Hope your eye is better soon Rachael!

Apparently everyone has a time of day that they produce more milk and less milk - I produce less in the evening, if I try and pump in the evening I'll get 1oz max. In the morning there's much more. To be fair, this could be because there's a build up because she sleeps longer at night and in the day she's been on and off more frequently and so there's less stored up in the evening.

Also, little angels and nurse practitioner both had to look up vasospasms - which I was able to do myself. Tut, will have to ask the dr on Thursday.
