January JellyBean mummies

anyone any ideas how to get wind up on a sleeping baby? at night all my usual techniques don't work, after she feeds she falls back into sleep and no matter what I do she won't wind. I've taken to leaving her against my chest for 20 mins to let milk settle otherwise she is sick within minutes of laying her down. Even after 20 mins its hit and miss if she's sick and sometimes she lays in bed just grumbling away which is obviously just wind, if I pick her back up before she's sick I can sometimes get a burp but only ever when its very early morning, very weird its like as soon as its dark she won't burp!

Glad your mum is ok Laura, you sound a bit better for your half hour and hopefully right now your snoring away if its your bedtime (not sure of time difference).

By the way don't know if any of you other bf moms tried the medela calma solitaire bottle which mimics the breast and only lets out milk when suckled? well its rubbish, cost me £15 and I struggled to get Fearne to suck it at all, the teat is so big! so if you know anyone about to buy one I would tell them not to bother, the normal teats she takes like a dream the first time! big waste of money! x

jojo - we got the breastflow ones which do the same and ollie tried ebm in it yesterday with his daddy and drank most of his 2oz, we finished off on me but hopefully if we persevere it might be a success - i think you can get them cheap in asda, they are £14 in mothercare tho....

:hugs: Laura, It's horrible having those types of days. Glsd your mum is ok...

Totslly understand how you feel, Ollie is only doing one 3 hr stretch at night, after that he's up every hour - not even wanting food each time, just not linking his sleep cycles, so i really don't get sleep beyond the 3 hours. He also won't go to sleep by himself - he has to be held then gingerley lowered into his crib - and he doesn't stay as long in his crib - he could sleep on me for hours - i have been turned into a very tired human mattress

I tried loads odf bottles and settled with avent both my boys have switched breast to avent fine without problems. I hated the tt bottles. Have you tried the breastflow bottles. It also mimics the breast I tried it with my first and he didnt liek it but many babies do. You are welcome to it ifd you want to give it a try.

Im now putting Jacob to bed after his 9pm feed he fed until 10pm last night so after burping he was alseep in cot for 10.15 he woke for a feed at 2am and did a nappy explosion then asleep again until 6.30am. I think we are mostly cracking night times now. It took my eldest months but I think stress in the house played a major role in that.

Laura is your mum eating right if she's having alot of sugar problems. Diabetes can be hard to control cant it :hugs:

:hugs: Laura!

Cake is a very poor Postman Pat cake van. We gonna do it in 2d for next practice as that was a major cock up!

:haha:

Alex stayed in bed till 11.20 this morning :haha:

Waiting for another massive poo.............. he only goes once every 4 or 5 days now  and its MASSSSIVE!

It took ages too for Caine to understand night and day but Alex slept all night from birth (obnviousdly waking every few hours) he sleeps pretty much 12 or 13 hours now all night with wakes...

We use Tommee tippe bottles and both been fine with them :)

I don't get a lot of time on the comp as I used to, but I wanted to pop in and brag. I'm feeling really great today. Freya slept through the night last night. :happydance:
We went to bed at midnight and she didn't wake up until 6:30am. I was so shocked when I looked at the clock. Lately we've been going to bed around 11 or 12 at night and then waking for a feed between 3 and 4, then back to sleep right away and waking again between 6 and 7, then right back to sleep and waking one last time between 9 and 10, then we are up for the day. She pretty much just decided to sleep right through her 3am feed. Here's to hoping she makes a habit of it! Good luck to everyone!

yes she makes sure to eat her meals around the same time each day and watches her portions to make sure shes getting enough calories and carbohydrates. The super weird part about yesterday was she had just eaten dinner (chicken, rice and veggies) and tested her sugars and they were normal. then they drove to the grocery store right after and she went low really fast.

Great Schlindz!

I ate lots of cake again today! ooppsss made another Pat and Jess, defo improvemnt!

We still on for Tuesday girls? 11am?

Still hoping to come Jade, will you PM me your mobile. Going to PM Jo for hers too so I can find you all when I get off the train.

Well not sure what you guys will make of this as have been keeping my efforts last week a bit secret. As most of you know I gave up breast feeding on day 5. Mainly because I was finding it hard to bond with Michael and couldn't handle it. Am feeling much better now and totally in love with the little man. Anyway I noticed last week that I was still producing a little milk and decided I would get an electric pump to express some for him. May as well put the H cup monsters to good use huh? I tried to get Michael to latch to no avail and the Tommee Tippee pump was pretty useless (wish I'd read the posts before I went shopping!) I perservered but found hand expressing the few mls off everytime I got chance worked better and hoped it would stimulated more milk to come in. Here's what happened today....

Michael ended up coming in the bath with me today - he seems to have developed a mummydar that detects when I get in the bath and starts crying even from being asleep! At the end we were having some skin to skin and he was just under my boob so decided to try him and he latched. Fed off both boobs - so excited I don't care that he pooped in the towel!!!Finished him with a 5oz bottle but a baby has got to be better than a pump for stimulating milk right? Natasha I prayed for Israel boobies without the honey if you catch my drift lol. Israel is the land known for flowing with milk and honey in Biblical times for those who don't know : )

susie thats fab! have you seen that thread on birth club where a lady began breast feeding again after 3 months? sounds like you can definatley do this if thats what you want to do! I think she offered breast milk to baby before formula and expressed to stimulate more as well, can't remember exactly but will try find you the link

Yay! thats fabulous. it will take some time but if you really want to go back to BFing you can do it. There is also some medication the dr can give you to help you make more milk. They actually can give it to adoptive mums to stimulate milk production. I had to use it when TEssa was 7mths cuz i started to try up. Its called Domperidone if your interested (or any other ladies) Just try not to get too stessed out with trying to get your milk back. but him latching is a great start.

That's fantastic!!!! He will definitely do a better job stimulating milk production than a pump will. Just keep latching him whenever you can. Even if it's only for a few minutes, it will stimulate production. Especially in the evening and at night. That's when milk production peaks. Good luck hun, let us know how it goes. We are all cheering for you. :happydance:
