Junebugs 2010

Hi Char

Doesn't matter how much she takes if it's breastmilk. I BF so don't know how much she has but guess lots as she gains weight fast at the moment!!

How are you settling in with Evey?

Hello ladies - I'm officially here now!!!!!! E&L sounds like a fab idea we should sort it out definitely. I emailed CJ last week when I was scared about the induction but dont think I've had a reply from her she was going for her grandmother's memorial service though so may be away.

I had a 20 hour labour and Nathan is perfect, he is only 1 day and 10 hours old now but OMG he is is one hungry baby - I was in tears last night trying to stop him crying - and he is LOUD, I am in a communal ward with 3 other women and he cried and cried and cried ALL night - he has a fair pair of lungs on him. Anyway they told me to try to top him up with formula via a srynge because I dont have enough breast milk to feed him with the colostrum unitl the proper milk comes in which is why he is crying so much. I've done this after breastfeeding twice now and it seems to have settled him so fingers crossed! And girls none of you told me about that nappy!!!! Poor little sod, last night I had to wipe poo out of his armpits, toes etc gross!!!!

Linn I'm not sure why but I have not had your texts hon, I'm sorry I had texted you the other day but hadnt heard so knew I had to check your mobile number. I have had so many lovely messages by text and email and on facebook, we are so blessed to have you all as friends :o))))

Nathan is currently sleeping on Paul's chest and I'm pulling together a proposal for someone lol - feel fine though no pain with CS scar until I move how I shouldnt but I'm not taking painkillers for it so am aware as soon as I start to hurt and stop.

So happy to have shared the pregnancy with all my super special bump buddies and the other ladies who have come on board more recently who I have got close too and look forward to the next stages we all have to come with our babies.

Mxxxxx

Hello, congrats on your LO. Just thought I'd let you know, I also has a c section and didn't take pain meds in hospital and coped quite well, when they discharged me they gave me a huge bag of pills to take for the pain and I left the hospital thinging I wouldn't take them either.....2 weeks on I'm still taking them!! (though not as much as when I came home) Going up and down the stairs in my house was a killer and my tummy has swelled up and is quite painful!! Obviously it doesn't mean it will happen to you but I thought I'd say taking the pain meds is usually a good idea. Good luck! :)

Hey :D

Okay!! The paed was pretty impressed about her gaining back her birth weight by our appointment last week, we're already taking guesses on how much she'll weigh on Friday!!

I'm feeling a little bit more confident today, yesterday and Monday sucked quite a bit because DH was back at work and she was pretty unsettled, especially yesterday.... But DH took me out last night (albeit to the mall, but I got some nice soap :)) for a bit of a break from the house, so it was nice to just have a wander around. I'm already turning into one of those angry, pram-wielding mothers; 4 boys almost knocked into the stroller and I was ready and prepared to hunt them down!

How's everything going with you? :)

xxx

Kd

I get these days where all she will do is drink, but today she just slept slept slept.. think they grow so much and it's how they bring the milk supply up.

My baby gained 1lb1oz in 10 days.. let me know how much she gained on Friday!!

Hun I think what is getting to you is being stuck in the house with a baby (i read you were upset on facebook yesterday), it can be quite lonely having a baby even when that's hard to believe. I still remember when it was just me and DD1 (with OH at work) in a tiny little village, I hated it. This time round it's much better. I have been to playgroup with DD1 and the baby since she was 3 days old and now OH is back at work I took the kids to play group every day this week so far and I feel so much better. I don't know what possibilities you got there but try and join a baby group, I know she is tiny but it is so lovely to get out and talk to other mums. I went to the little music makers today and the baby actually seemed to like it as she was wide awake and laid on a changing mat on the floor the entire time and didn't fuss for the boob, which she would normally do.

We are fine thank you, both kids are asleep now and yesterday we all napped together for 2 hrs which was great too, I was worried about being by myself with two kids and did get a bit stressed monday morning but now I am quite happy, I can actually go out with both children and don't get too much time to worry about stuff!!

:hi: D and kd.................
kd as Linn said if you are giving breast milk then i wouldn't worry. She will drink what she needs hun xxxx I have no idea sometinmes he is latched on for 5mins and then another time he is on for 40mins!! Just going with the flow at the moment!
Can not believe he is 10days old! where did the time go????? I have my last mw apt tomorrow morning and to weigh him, then the HV is coming Friday xxx

Also i have stopped bleeding as of day 9.......................Yeeehaaaa xxxxx

Ta guys, getting out yesterday helped a lot. We're going to see my MW tonight, so that'll be another opportunity to get out, even for a short while... I'll start going to my MW's regular meets eventually, just still feeling sore down below (my back seized up after walking around the mall for 30 mins yesterday!! :dohh:) and I can't really get to some of the meets atm, because I don't drive.... Definitely would be a good idea when I can do it though.

I'm still bleeding and looking into Mama Cloth (cloth pads) as it's meant to help shorten the length of time you bleed for... I am absolutely gagging for sex...

Speaking of sex, what kind of birth control are you guys using/going to be using? I'm tempted to go back on my old pill (mini pill) but at the same time the hormones bother me a little...it makes me grumpy, but not as bad as some of the pills I've been on.... Was looking at IUDs otherwise (would really prefer to avoid using condoms, though we'll probably be using them short term when start having sex again...) but have read some very mixed reviews on them...

xx

KD I wish I had that problem, I am (like last time) scared to have sex following giving birth!! I know it will be fine again, like last time but I really don't mind waiting just a little bit longer.

The downside about living in the states, you need to drive to get anywhere, I always found it boring when visiting relatives when they had to work as I would have to just sit inside their house and wait for them to be back from work. And I do remember waiting for my OH to come back every day when I was still living in that horrible place. Shame you can't just walk or take the bus to places.

I am planning to use an IUS (Mirena) for birth control as I can't take the pill and was much too lucky in the past, I should have 5 kids by now :haha: So I want something that is really safe!

Hello girls !!
Thought I'd come on over and say hello :)
Hope no one minds, but I'm going to copy my birth story over here so you all can take a look ; and obviously give an update on how mommy life is going :)

Born ; June 24th 2010 at 4:25pm *her due date*
Weight ; 10lbs, 5oz
Length ; 21inches

So on June 24th, I had an appointment at 10:40am for an NST. I went to the hospital and was hooked up to the machine. Her heartbeat was ranging from 175-185, so much faster than it should be. The nurse had me change positions, gave me an IV of fluids and her heartbeat stayed high. The nurse then called my OB, who was in the OR that day. About an hour and a half after the NST began, my OB came downstairs to see me. He walked in the room and said that the baby was tired (she was actually in distress, but he didn't mention that at the time) and needed to come out and he was going to do an emergency c-section. He got the forms, had me sign them and said that I'd be going up in about 2 hours as he was just about to do another surgery. He did do an exam, and baby wasn't engaged at all, so he said that he wouldn't even bother attempting to induce me, as she wasn't going to arrive naturally anyways.
So about 3pm, I was taken to the OR. I waited around for a while, and was then taken into the room for a spinal. My OH was there, and had to wait outside until the spinal was done. They tried giving me two seperate spinals but the needle wasn't long enough, so they ended up doing just an epidural. Once I was all ready to go, they brough my OH in and then it began.
The drugs for the epidural made me nauseous ; so they had to give me something to stop the nausea, twice. It was an odd feeling during the surgery, a lot of pressure really.
At 4:25pm I finally heard my baby girl cry, and then heard all the assistants and my OB start saying "wow she's a big girl" and then started guessing her weight. They brought her over to my left right when she came out so me and my OH could take a look at her. Then they took her to get cleaned up. They asked my OH if he wanted to trim her cord, but he chose not to. (After the fact I found out that he said no because he hadn't eaten all day, his stomach was kind of upset and he was afraid he'd throw up if he did it) After she was cleaned up, my OH and the nurse took her down to the nursery to be weighed and dressed and such while I got stitched up.
About 5 or 5:30pm (not entirely sure) I was taken to recovery. It was 6:45 before I was able to move my legs sufficiently enough to be taken to my room. So, I was taken downstairs, cleaned up and finally at 7pm, I finally got to see and hold my baby girl.
She's absolutely perfect and I love her to pieces!
So it's been 6 days, the pain is finally starting to subside. I've been home since Sunday and am absolutely blessed to have such a wonderful daughter and wonderful family and support. I just wish my OH was here.

So I got home on Sunday afternoon, less than 72 hours after Kalyn arrived. At the hospital I was breastfeeding, well attempting to. She has a perfect latch and all, but my milk wasn't coming in fast enough for her, so everytime I'd try and feed her, she would scream. I kept on trying, supplementing with formula to make sure she was eating something, until last night. Everytime I fed her, well tried to, she would start to scream, and I'd start to cry. Once in a while, she would latch for a few minutes, but the last few feeds, she wouldn't even latch for a minute. And the fact that I was bawling everytime I tried, it just wasn't working. So, I've given up. I want to enjoy my daughter, and enjoy feeding her, and crying whilst trying just wasn't worth it. I know that breast milk is the best for her, but at this rate, with my emotions the way they are, my milk will never come in. So she's now on the bottle, and absolutely content with it, and eating, which is all that matters to me. She's lost a pound since birth, and that was really worrying me as well.
She's such a lazy baby though! She LOVES to sleep! I know she's a newborn and it's normal, but WOW! She'll wake up, eat and pass out. Although, last night, she didn't sleep much. My mom stayed up with her, so I could sleep ; 8 hours of straight sleep was absolutely amazing! As, I hadn't slept much since Thursday! But, as long as my mom was holding her, she was content.
She had her second bath tonight, and other than a little bit of crying, it wasn't all that bad. She was just kind of pissed really, I mean, she was woken up from a nap in the carseat (we had just gotten home from walmart) and went from being warm and cuddly to being naked and dunked in the water! So I don't blame her for being pissed off!

But all in all, she's absolutely amazing! I love her to pieces! :D ; she's the love of my life!

I want to congratulate everyone who's made it over here! And wish you all luck and best wishes to the growth and life of their little ones!

Thanks Linn I don't no about private rooms here he is quieter tonight after combination feeding. I'll text you a photo tomorrow so I don't wake you now. KD Omg ur like superman lol I know Nathan is only 2 days old but I can't imagine sex anytime soon how long do u wait after c section? Wow Emma at bleeding stopping and Congrats Lili too xxx

Thanks tannenbaum re pain meds advice I'll speak to them before I leave. Karamel ill read your birth story tomorrow when I can concentrate

Nite all xx

Lovely birth story karamel, congratulations! I agree it's a weird feeling having a CS, all that pressure! Don't worry about the breastfeeding, you did your best and that's all you can do. I am formula feeding and my LO is thriving :)

Kd I'm back on the pill! I don't like the pill it makes me moody and I swore I'd never go on it again when I was TTC but right now I don't care, I just don't want to get pregnant again :) it sounds like you're doing a fab job and Evey is just gorgeous!

D you are finally here, yay!! Nathan is amazing, I love him! I hope you had a better night, it should be much better when your milk comes in. You have to think that in the womb these little babies never experienced hunger, it's all so new to them! They wouldn't let people who had sections have private rooms at my hospital, they wanted them all together on a ward. I liked it though, met some nice people :) can't believe you done some work in there  haha! Maybe they will let you home today? It's great you are not in much pain :)

I don't know how long they recommend for having sex. I waited 6 weeks which was yesterday but only because the bleeding only just stopped, I did feel ready much earlier. Non-pregnant sex is awesome btw :haha:

Hey guys, can you add me?

Evelyn Rose - 21st of June

Congrats Delilah!! :)

BTW, how much milk is everyone's bubba taking? Bean is just over a week old now and I'm expressing breast milk to give her at night - people are saying she should only be taking 2oz, but she's happily taking 3-4oz and only then will she settle for the night - two nights ago she had 3oz and slept 2am til 6am, next night she had 2oz and was up every 45 mins to an hour...last night she had 3-4oz (DH fed her, so not entirely sure how much exactly) and slept from 2am til 7am!!!!!!!! I mean, obviously 2oz isn't satisfying her, but getting up to 4oz at this point seems a bit much!

xx

my baby is 10 lbs and eats 3oz every 2-3 hours but sleeps thru the night with the exception of a 2am feeding :happydance: my doctor is very happy with how much she eats!

Hi Emma, can you add me. Dylan born 18th June! ( 10 days late)

Hope all you June mummies are well. Im one happy bunny at the minute and i love being a new mummy! Dylan is no problem at all, breastfeeding well and has gone from 8 pound 15 to 9 pound 7 in just 12 days!Hes such a beautiful boy!

Ive got an infection in my wound from emergency section so im on yet more antibiotics and also had to be swabbed for mrsa as my mum had contracted it after being in hospital so fingers crossed it comes back negative. I'm also still bleeding lots of bright red blood on day 13, thought it might have calmed down a bit by now!

Tired and sore but very very happy xx

Congratulations Tilly!

My blood was always bright red right until it stopped at about 5 weeks xx

Hi everyone! Just a quick update, i've finally written my birth story:

Birth Story

Sorry it's a bit long xx

How's everyone doing? Thought i would check in and catch up.

My OH went back to work lst week for a few days. I found it really hard doing everything on my own. My LO doesn't like to be put down so have to carry her everywhere. I've had visitors each day which i've found quite tiring. Each time someone comes i just hope my LO stays settled while their here. People are now on their second time of visiting. I never imagined i'd have so many visitors.

I've had to changed the formula that she was on. We were on SMA Gold for 2 weeks but she got really bad colic. The health visitor recommended Aptimil. We tried Aptimil Comfort and that gave her loud, smelly (explosive) wind. Lol. It was so bad that when she was settled it was waking her up. She also had hiccups all the time. Weve now swapped to the normal Aptimil and Infracol to see if that works. She seems more settled so fingers crossed.

My stitches are finally starting to heal. This week has been the first week i've felt normal. I've cut the amount of painkillers i'm taking down too. My friend told me the other day she was pregnant. It was really weird because i felt jealous. I absolutely loved being pregnant, it's the pain afterwards. Lol. Everyone told me that as soon as you had the baby all the pain goes away. I think they lied. Hehe.

Karamel lovely birth story and like Lili said, as long as you and baby are happy it doesn't matter wether you BF or FF. I FF one baby and this time I'm breastfeeding, when I was feeding my DD1 I was also in tears much!!

Tilly hope your infection will clear up soon.

I am still bleeding red as well, so annoying, I had already been brown and spotting now it's red again  hope it will ever stop! At least I can hope I won't get any periods while I'm breastfeeding, would be nice.

Purple - also lovely birth story, glad your little man is doing well!

:haha: mrsdramaqueen I will always be jealous when someone announces their pregnancy but I am petrified of getting pregnant again.

I am soooo tired, she woke often last night and then wouldn't settle from 3.30 until 5 am... aaaahhh it was just too hot, I kept putting her down as I couldn't hold her for long, will try fan tonight!

How are you all?

Hi girls Lili you are right of course the whole pregnancy they are protected and dont know any different! I am getting bright red blood but we're only on day 3 so to be expected! This bloody hospital routine OMG I live from one event to the next! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, bath time for Nathan, shower for me etc lol I'm going insane!!!!! Hoping to be home tomorrow though!

Lili I was in a specalist CS room too until they needed the space and moved me to the room I'm in now!

Tilly take it easy hon, they told me today my scar was looking fine - my tummy still looks like I'm 6 months pregnant though! I look at Nathan and wonder why I didnt even think about wanting to be a mum until recently - you girls have all the time in the world to think about adding to your families, for me if I want another I will have to start planning for next year but who knows we might stick with quality not quantity lol that's Paul's take on it! Did he email you guys? He said he has been so preoccupied with being a dad he cant keep up with everything!

Linn I've just sent you a picture of Nathan by text my phone only sends them as a slideshow so I hope you get it ok. I have tabs open for all these birth stories where is my energy?!

Best go because next event of the day is visiting at 6.30pm and I need to change and feed Nathan before that - OMG bring back my 18 hour work days I was far less stressed than doing nothing in hospital lol!!!!!

Until later.

Mxxx

Deliah how long have you been on the ward for? I couldn't stand hospital. The food and care was horrible. They offered me a beef and ale pasty, tuna or egg sandwich and a warm yoghurt for dinner. I got toast for breakfast. I was so glad to come home to a shepherds pie.

Do you get over the pain alot easier if you have a natural birth? It feels like it's taken ages to feel normal again.

Delilah I was so bored at the hospital and I was out 12 hrs after I had her.. it is much better when you are at home, but do get yourself some support set up, I would write the number of the postnatal ward and number of 24 hour breastfeeding support line down a pad by the phone and then whenever you have a problem with feeding or not being able to settle him you can phone someone. I am normally shy of doing this but those first days when I wasn't sure about feeding I rang the ward a few times and felt so much better for it! Sometimes it is great to get some reassurance.
