Junebugs 2010

Need a bit of a vent after a hard few hours, apologies in advance!

LO was quite jaundiced for a few days, so was quite sleepy and we had lots of falling asleep on the boob. Today seemed to be going great, she was feeding well and staying awake. Then we had a nappy leakage so changed her and her clothes and picked her back up.

All of a sudden, she was coughing and then threw up all over me, and loads of it. I know babies are sick and I've seen them do little bits of sick but this was quite projectile - although it freaked me out more than her, she just led there while I cleaned up. I've never seen a baby be sick like that before.

But then she was hungry again (not surprising seeing how much came out of her!) but of course the boobs were pretty empty so she fed almost constantly for over an hour because there wasn't much milk.

It took me ages to get her to settle without waking up for more milk and now she's finally asleep but my nipples are sore after all that feeding!

I'm not too worried yet, going to keep an eye on her overnight but I think she's fine. Like I said, I think it bothered me more than her. We're supposed to be out for the day tomorrow but I'm not sure now - think I'll see how we both sleep. I feel tired but not sleepy iykwim.

Oh well, thanks for letting me vent lol

Oh littlepne, hope your LO is fine overnight, hugs! Z's had a few projectile vomits, pretty impressive aren't they??

CJ...dunno then hun sorrry. we had a hard time with DD1 but cos i was in and out of hospital with pancreatitis we just muddled thru and didnt really tackle any probs till she was much older. made a rod for our own backs with lots of stuff but we did what we had to at the time.
DD2 we made decision to not do that again so we never cuddled her off to sleep. kida helped by the fact that she doesnt like being held that close either.
DD3 we kinda doing a bit of both lol.

i have seen those things that you can put in your bed so they are near you but safer...cant think what they are called. will go have a look for it and post a link. Email or PM if you need to at any time hun xxxxxxxxxxxx

right this isnt it but its the nearest i can find for you quickly hun to give you the idea. the one i was looking for had little walls round to keep baby safe.

maybe holding her hand or stroking he rwhen she is in this might be all she needs to know you are there. chin up hun it will get easier xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry CJ, no other ideas. Bean only really starts crying at night when her dummy falls out... She gets fussy from time to time (the bad nights) and it's just a case of giving her her dummy over and over and hoping that at each feed she'll settle enough to get to sleep...that or I've sat and rocked her in my glider for 45 minutes while singing the same two verses of Your Song (by Elton John) She still wasn't greatly impressed about being put back into her bed, but she had another feed and went off to sleep for a short while....

I am absolutely hoping to hell that she has as good a night tonight as she did last night.. DH put her on my boob this morning at 6am and removed her once she was done, so I could continue to sleep until 9:30am when I had to get up and get ready for paediatrician! Thank God for my DH is all I can say, otherwise I think I would've leapt off the balcony by now! :haha:

:hugs: P.S I agree with trying to just reassure her you're there without picking her up - Beanie Wean responds to shh'ing and having her head rubbed... :)

xx

Kalyn had her second doctor's appointment today ; weighing in at 10lbs 2oz, so only 3oz down from birth weight. On Monday, when we went, she was down to 9lbs 5.5oz ; so she's gained back almost the whole pound she lost, in only 4 days! <3 I'm so proud :)

That's a fab gain karamel!

Kd I can picture you singing that song now, god that made me laugh!!

Ahhhhh CJ I'm not sure! Like I said a few pages back we use a slumber bear which plays the sound of the heartbeat in the womb and that always works for us if she is unsettled. Could you try downloading some White noise to give it a go, gotta be worth a try! I believe the hairdryer has the same affect too  and Layla always falls asleep when I'm drying my hair too!

Littlepne we've had a few projectiles too, where it comes so fast it comes out of her nose too :( i have to do nappy changes etc before feeding her, and then keep her propped slightly upright afterwards to avoid it..seems to work. Hugs to you!!! It's awful the first time it happens :hugs:

Also that's a fab weight gain kd, she's doing so well!

Think we're all better now, slept well anyway!

I was more shocked at how much there was for such a little baby!! No wonder she was sick - it couldn't all fit in her stomach!

CJ hun Zoelle sounds exactly like my DD1, all you can do is be patient, unfortunetely it is normal... I had a night from hell last night too. Think DD2 was just unsettled but wether she was on my arm or in her bed, didn't make a difference. It is hard isn't it?

Eventually my DD1 did sleep in her bed, I just kept trying trying trying. I sometimes sat in that chair all night long!! Swaddling helped a bit here and also putting her to sleep on her tummy. Unfortunitely this doesn't work for my DD2. I am sooo tired I can't even sleep in the day cause of DD2, I already cried this morning as OH is having a lie in, it's all right for some!

Got a question for those who breastfeed, how often do your LOs poo? Mine hasn't done it since sunday!! 5 days and no dirty nappy. Health visitor said it's ok, but I am wondering will she ever go again, maybe it's bothering her??

beasley ang Jilliann May June 16 4:10 6lbs 15 oz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoRg9maFFrc now at 2 weeks she is 8lbs 3 oz!!! I am exclusively breastfeeding and it is going sooo well!!!

Linn, I read it's OK for breast fed babies to not poo every day... Z sometimes skips a day or 2 :)

Lili, we have a lamb that plays womb sounds and nature sounds. Helps a bit, but not enough to put her to sleep. Last night I tried white noise from between radio stations and it worked really well! Fell asleep like a charm in my arms, within 10 minutes of starting it. I then put her down in her crib (in the nursery, rather than the bassinette, maybe she just doesn't like the bassinette) and she slept there for 45 minutes. Started getting agitated again so brought her back into bed with me. E&L, we do have a co-sleeper mattress, but she doesn't take well to it :-( Likes lying right on my chest or cuddled up right next to me... We're buying a crib wedge today to elevate her head when she's in the crib, that may help? We also tried a pacified (dummy), but I don't like that she cries when it falls out, want her to get used to sleeping without one... I'm just tired, I am not complaining, I think my baby is the best and sweetest thing ever :cloud9: She's starting to smile socially and it makes my heart melt when she smiles at me :cloud9:

Right now she's sleeping on her tummy in the bassinette while I type, will keep putting her in crib/bassinette/swing daily, to help her get used to it... I have the lamb going with womb sounds, startled her awake when it started though, oops! :haha: If she's still sleeping in 10 minutes, may be brave enough to try and take a shower...

Thanks all for the advice.

Linn my mw said they dont poo as much on breast milk cos there isnt as much waste in it for them to poo. its all they need. makes me feel so bad for not being able to continue bf.

Any June bugs had a section, i had a emergency section with Dylan and have felt fine up until yesterday (day 15) ive had an infection in my wound but its not troublesome and am onto second lot of 2 kinds of antibiotics.Doesn't bother me though!
However since yesterday i have felt awful, ended up at docs who said it was just infection, feels like a mixture of gas, really strong period pain and back ache. Am taking painkillers but they are not doing much.
Anyone experience this and how did they get any kind of relief.
Thanks xx

Thanks CJ and E&L it's now been 6 days :( hopefully tomorrow. I just put her to sleep upstairs in her bedside crib after 3 hrs of getting her to sleep, she was sooo tired and just couldn't settle! She cried sometimes but always stopped fast, I just hope it won't be the same again tonight! She should be shattered from being awake all day, DD1 is in bed but still awake hope she won't wake the baby, but fingers crossed so far the baby phone is quiet.

CJ how long did Zoelle sleep in her bassinet in the end? Hope you got your shower, you are doing really well, making sure she gets her sleep and doesn't have to cry, you can be proud of yourself and it will all get easier with time, you will see! And I know what you mean, I am also so in love with my baby :)

edit: forgot to say E&L do not feel bad. I sometimes feel guilty that I didn't feed my DD1 for long, but this baby makes it very easy!! If I would have had problems I would have quit, but I never even had to use that Lansinoh yet that I bought!! I am sure butterbean is a happy bottlefed baby :hugs:
