Kate McCann releasing a book...

Worth a read....

Here we read the first reactions from Kate and Gerry's closest family and friends, immediately after they have been contacted individually with the news that Madeleine has been 'abducted'.

Note how consistent the stories are that an 'abductor' gained access to a locked apartment by breaking open the shutter on the bedroom window and escaping by the front door.

The story changed later when it became clear the shutters on the window had not been forced, were not damaged in any way and could only be opened from inside the apartment.

From that point, the McCanns became convinced that an 'abductor' had entered through 'open' patio doors and escaped through the open shuttered window.

Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns' spokesman, is eventually forced to admit that "There was no evidence of a break-in".
but they could supposedly see the patio doors from the bar right?
Thanks for the links to the 'first reactions' on the McCann files very interesting read.
And, yeah, well, allegedly, they could see the patio doors from the bar (if they twisted their heads around the bushes & the wall that were in the way - pictures show it all).....

Bloody hell it's taken me about a week to read all this thread!!!! I was never really sue at first whether they had anything to do with it or not but now im absolutely convinced! x

Just read through the thread..

From a few days after poor Madeline went missing I had the feeling her parents knew more about it that they were letting on,surely the police in the country she went missing wouldn't make them suspects without some sort of proof.
Also I remember reading that a fundraising concert was being planned for the August of the year she went missing....strikes me as odd that you wouldn't hope your child would be home by then....almost as if they knew there was no chance she would be found.
I agree with what others have said,if it was a 'council estate mum' there is no way they would have got the same level of public sympathy.
xx

Me again! :haha: I'm becoming a bit of an addict to this thread!

I've been thinking about how an abductor would have the chance to take Madeleine (I don't believe this 'story' myself, but am trying to explore different areas).

So, if someone did take Madeleine, then I believe that either:

(a) When doind their 'checks' on the children, the Tapas 7 only listened outside the apartments to see if any of the children were crying, but never actually went inside OR
(b) None of the Tapas 7 bothered checking at all, only Gerry and Kate, and even then, I don't think Gerry bothered to do it properly.

This would mean an abductor would have much more time to take Madeleine, not just the 10-15minutes the Tapas 9 say.

I can imagine Kate finding Madeleine missing, going back and them all saying "well, we'll say we all checked every 20minutes......" and it would also explain why Kate and others wrote down their own sequence of events straight away (on the cover of Madeleines colouring book)

Any thoughts?

my thoughts is, why, if your child went missing, would you grab their colouring book and go and make a plan of action !! I'd be screaming for help, NOT caring if the other kids woke up!

Wasn't it reported in the press that Kate was yelling 'someone's taken Madeline' before anyone had checked around the apartment?Xx

It was a nanny who heard them say this....' "They've taken her, they've taken her!" and "Madeleine's gone!"

'They' ???xx

Kate apparently checked the apartment but the first thing she said to everyone else was "They've taken her". This was after leaving the twins in the apartment and walking all the way back over to the Tapas bar..

I'm still reading through this thread.
I always thought something dodgy about them and reading some of the things on here is starting to convince me more and more now!

I won't be buying the book. I would rather put my money into a charity that helps support ALL families of children that have gone missing from this country :(
Why they get so much publicity and the others don't just angers me!
x

I found it very odd that she put things in her book about how she couldn't make love to Gerry....if the book is to raise money for the search, did we really need to know about their sex life?X

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the Mccanns thought the resort was family friendly so they felt safe leaving the children unnattended. If that was the case then why would their first thought be that Madeleine was abducted. Surely, as it was family friendly, it would have been more likely that Madeleine woke up and possibly walked out the apartment. My cats know how to open a door, so I'm sure Madeleine did to. 'They've taken her' my initial reaction would be 'someone has taken her'. To me 'they' implies that they knew who took her. Yeesh my poor head

That's another thing I find odd. I don't understand why her sex life would be of concern when she has a missing child and why would the public want to know that?

These are very good points  Also that's a clever (and tall) cat you have there :haha:

my local mcdonalds is family friendly doesnt mean id leave zane alone there, and bloody hell shes on about their sex life in the book..wtf that has nothing to do with anything.

sex would be the last thing on mine or my ohs mind if our child was missing.
my 2 yr old can open doors so no chance would i leave him alone with a unlocked door

I think the sex life bit is only a page.. but a page too long imho. It's late and I'm getting images. Gerry.. I need to sleep but I may have nightmares now

I think she was trying to show they are 'normal' and were/are struggling with losing Maddie, as these are normal reactions from grief stricken parents

Does any think it possible that she fell down the stairs and landed on the flowerbed, Kate found her and carried her up the stairs to better light, and the first place avaliable was behind the sofa, this explains the smell in the flower bed, the blood and smell behind the sofa, and why her clothes smelt too. When she realised that she was dead, she ran to the Tapas bar, and this is where Gerry took over, took Maddie away (explaining the Smith's sighting), and then I dont know what happens but just a thought.

Also, I am not saying I believe this, just curious.

It's possible, I suppose - I've always wondered, given Eddie the dog alerted to cadaver odour in the flower bed, I think, how the smell ended up there. Either that or her the body was hidden there temporarily, before the alert was given by Kate?

The dog handler said that, judging by the alert Eddie gave, the trace in the flowerbed was very light ... indicating that a body had only been there a short time or it was inside something.... and don't forget that cadaver odour takes time to develop.

If she had fallen down the stairs and had been bleeding enough to leave the trace behind the sofa then I would have expected blood for the other dog to alert to at the bottom of the stairs as well?
