Kate McCann releasing a book...

Does anyone know if it was the McCanns first visit to Portugal/that area or if they had stayed there before?

Havnt kept up with this thread! tried to read through yday but so many pages.. think i got to 41 i cant be bothered to read all the way through again ha,

i saw front of paper today, why is Kate more intrested in her sex life?!
its so wrong, so selfish!
anybody thats child has been 'abducted' would not even be thinking about sex! its the last thing you would even speak about, exspecially in a book!

You have to remember this is 'The Sun' newspaper after all!

But wasnt that from her book?

The idea about the church is very eye opening, thanks TattiesMum, made me think! :(

I'm not very clued up on religion sorry - if that's very outdated I'm sorry!!

No - the secrecy of the confessional is sacred, it doesn't matter what they hear they aren't allowed to tell anyone.

Interestingly the priest was removed from the church after it all came out about the key, and whisked away by the Catholic Church (who also removed all their links to the McCann website at about the same time).

Why doesn't that suprise me!!!

It was always strange aswell when right after it happened like days they where on about planning a big event etc to raise awareness.

Wouldn't you still be living in the hope that she was going to be found and returned to you?

It's like they where so set in stone she was never coming back.

Also Kate admitted on tv interview they never physically looked for Madeleine.

Yet her book totally contradicts that like a bloody fantasy she's made up looking through bushes etc.

I think so, but (I've not read the article/paper so I don't know) it wouldn't suprise me if a few lines from the book have been splashed across the front page because let's face it, we've had so many stories about them/Madeline , the search for her, etc etc that this is something 'different' which has never been mentioned before so it's something 'new'.

doesn't suprise me either, all very strange. i wish they would re open the case and look at everything again just seems like nothing been looked into properly tbh!! just makes you feel sick wondering what could have happened to her!!

//arcadia that's interesting i'm sure somewhere it says she looked for her  or maybe i dreamt that!

couldnt they reopen the case? + look into all these things?

Yes they could ... all that it requires to re-open the case is for the McCanns to ask the Portuguese Authorities to re-open it and to agree to take part in a reconstruction and answer some questions.

I already said but she is showing/trying to show a normal reaction to 'grieving' for Maddie.

They can reopen the case, with new evidence but there isnt any. Everything you read does point to the fact the parent/s did it but pointing isnt enough, they need real evidence. I personally think it will only be reopen if/when a body is found

I think this whole thing is a fantasy which they probably now believe to some extent. They will never go back on it & tbh they probably know any evidence is long gone to link them to the case.

Cant the police re open it and just bring them in for questioning whether they agree or not?

No point though if the answer to every question is no comment

In the book, which was serialised in The Sunday Times, Kate McCann also reveals how she is haunted by the thought she missed a chance to prevent the abduction, saying Madeleine had tried to tell her that someone had attempted to break into the children’s bedroom.
just found this in an article on the net!!

Could they not charge and take it to court based on inconsistent statements and dna evidence, but then again i suppose the defence would argue its all hear say and they get off, and if they did couldnt be tried again??

The more I read, the more I believe that this whole thing is one huge deluded story concocted by the McCann's which has snowballed out of control so much that they have carried on indulging in the fantasy until they have even started to believe their own lies

I've always thought that too Sam - people can convince themselves that what they are saying is true ... it's like bigamists who lead a double life - they live in the moment and totally convince themselves that the 'life' they are in at any given time is the only one, whilst blocking out the reality.

If you spend enough time repeating a lie to yourself and living it out in your head, then I'm sure you must eventually come to believe it yourself.
