Kate McCann releasing a book...

One word, compassion, where the hell is it?

Yes, they made the wrong decision in leaving their babies but does that mean they deserved to have one of the snatched away? If you answer yes to that then you must have never have made a bad choice in your life and be whiter than white. My heart breaks for that poor little girl, my heart also breaks for the parents who made a bad decision and have had to live with the consequences every day for 6 years.

I'm sorry but shame on anyone who judges them.

Shame on anyone who doesn't judge a couple that intentionally left three young children alone. They should have been well aware of the risk and they were willing to take them. Id respect them a bit more if they came out advocated others against leaving young children alone but they haven't done that and never will as it will mean they accept fault. Myself and many others find the couple to be infuriating and cold.

I judged using the evidence after they left their children alone. Theres enough there to make any one suspicious even things they said. I think its unfair to shame people who looked at that evidence and didnt just feel sorry for them and ignore it.

They didn't just make one bad choice. They made plenty. I judge them for leaving her. But I also moreso judge them for leaving those kids knowing that the previous night those children CRIED for them to return. Why would you then go out again. That is callous and unbelievably selfish. Good parents don't do that.

Do I feel sorry for them? I'd like to but I don't anymore. I feel the mccans are strange and dishonest, and a large part of me believes gerry mcann knows more than hes letting on.

I have Kates book upstairs, never read it and cant bring myself too.

Its not "shame" on those who judge them. Shame on the parents.

I wouldn't say shame on anyone who judges them either, I don't know the full facts but I do hope the little princess is found alive soon.
I have made mistakes as a parent but leaving my children in a hotel/apartment alone whilst going for a meal, is not one of them and never will be.

Sorry but they made more then one bad descission. Not only did they leave them alone every night even though they had cried for them. But they left the door unlocked and Gerry had gone back on one of his check and the door was open wider then he'd left it yet he still went back out.
No they didn't deserve it but surely they knew the risk and still took it. There was a night crèche down the road if they wanted to go out so much but they didn't want to leave them with a 'stranger' that they were happy to leave them with while they played tennis during the day

If they had left them alone and she'd been taken...then I do think that is more than enough punishment, they don't need everyone else telling them that they shouldn't have left them. But something about it doesn't add up...but if she had accidentally died (which seems to be the common theory) where would they have hidden her until they could get rid of the body?! That's the only bit that puzzles me.

Seeing the new evidence was so strange why wasn't this done six years ago? What I also can't understand is if they're thinking this was a premeditated kidnap then why didn't they take all three children that's what I find so strange about it all. I don't believe the parents had something to do with it, they had no time to move evidence and clean up as the time line didn't account for it.
It's amazing they've had 300 enquiries already though, makes it seem like they're finally getting closer to finding out what happened.

I want to know why Sean and Amelie were never taken, too. There's also no sign of anyone being there, not even a footprint or a fingerprint.

I also want to know how on earth can dogs find the scent of death in so many places, including their clothes, and why did they wash her toy? Why was her DNA found in a rental car they hired weeks after she disappeared. The dogs are just the big factor for me, dogs can't lie, they don't have an agenda. Why did they scrub the apartment? GAAAAH.

No they didn't deserve to have their little girl taken away, but that little girl didn't deserve to be in the position of being taken away. Hundreds of children go missing all the time, not always cute little white girls and they don't get anywhere near the media attention and police resources the McCanns got, what about all the Pakistani girls that go missing, do we have their parents on the magazines for 6 years? I feel sorry for them, I wish their girl wasn't snatched, but the thing on tv last night showed them using words like "hindsight" and saying they weren't the perpetrators, but the fact is what they did directly caused the abduction, it wasn't a "silly mistake" it was monumentally selfish to leave 3 toddlers in a room on their own, what if they were ill, or wondered, abduction was just one thing that could and did happen, I can whole heartedly say I would NEVER do what they did, so it's hard to stretch sympathy when you think they've been so stupid. So yes I judge them, because for intelligent people their decision was decisively selfish, and hasn't just affected them, it's caused god knows what to Madeline and for those twins to be brought up without their sister. Let's hope they are a lesson to any other selfish parents out there who thought what they did was a good idea.

^^ I agree that it's disgusting the amount of money put in to this story which is almost certainly gonna either never end or find her dead. I do kind of feel like the government felt that the McCann story was a great public focus and just went with it... I mean, why on earth do the parents need a press manager?!?!?!?!!? From the parents' perspective I can understand the constant campaigning and spending loads of money and keeping the story alive, but it's been pushed by the media and governments too. It's so sad when so many children and vulnerable adults vanish in to nothingness, or are findable but forgotten about, like those who leave social care at 16 to inevitably end up homeless.

I can't help but think their class and occupations have had a big impact on the way they have been described in the media, if they were a benefits or low income family on holiday in butlins who left their kids around the corner so they could go to the pub for a meal would the press be so favourable...? And yet it's the same thing. The press usually have a field day mauling people but they have been uncharacteristically kind to the McCanns.

YES!!

Havent read all this thread as I am infuriated that this is still going on, as much as I hope Madeline is found alive people need to consider the greater possibility that she isnt. Its so sad when you see the tiniest news articles for missing children in places like London (usually ethnic minorities) and no-one seems to care about them. Madeline's parents should have been punished for leaving their kiddies alone like that, their class deffo makes them receive more sympathy.

Oh absolutely. If they'd been a working class family then the tabloids would have been overjoyed and put an equal amount of energy in to destroying them. But then, if that was the case and the McCanns were guilty, maybe they'd have been charged by now? It's not the leaving of their kids that bugs me (like I said before, I think they have well and truly been dragged to hell and back for that one), it's the total bias of the entire situation.

Honestly I think at this point it'd be much better if she'd died accidentally. I mean, the chances she was abducted by someone desperate to be a parent and is living a happy life are nil; she would have been recognised. She's either dead, or she's been sold in to the sex trade, or she's one of those fucked up cases that we keep hearing about where someone is held captive in a home for decades. A quick accidental death would be much kinder for her.

Can I ask the people who think she is alive and hope she is found alive and well soon something, do you wonder where the human cardavar came from in that room no one had ever died in and the car and on her toy? maddies clothes and on Kate too. It was found in several places leading to a trail to the car they had gotten after her disappearance. They even have blood from her in the livingroom too that was dna tested to be hers.
There is too many places to copy and paste where the cardavar was found by the dogs please see this link. Those dogs have never ever been wrong and still to this day work.

I agree with this. How can people ignore evidence like this? It's like it's just been erased. The whole case leaves me feeling cold, the couple themselves make me very uneasy. But will we ever find out what really happened? It seems most people (not surprisingly those who don't research and rely on media) feel sorry for them and believe they are innocent.

I saw 'that' e-fit too, my first thought was that it was Gerry, it's his double! It's just so frustrating!

You can feel sorry for them and not believe them innocent. But yeah, it's all very very strange.
