Kidney infection, obstruction, antibiotics not working - Update: worse on new AB

Thank you for asking! I have mostly just been busy with moving clothes around since we are getting a new closet and my son got our smaller closet!

I was feeling pretty much completely normal 4 days ago and the baby had turned too, no kidney congestion could be seen. My husband and I attempted intercourse and boom the infection came back Even while still taking D Mannose and GSE. I feel better again now but not fully normal and my leukocytes in a recent urine sample were through the roof.

I will talk to my GP tomorrow. He was so kind to finally do a urine culture recently and after over 3 weeks on antibiotics (!!!) 3 bacteria still grew. 2 of them are hard to treat in pregnancy since the Antibiotics that are safe don't work for them...
D Mannose helps lots but only when taken often and it is soooo costly. 25 EUR for a 5 day supply!

I'm so sorry to hear that! Are the antibiotics for the other two bacteria category C or D? Does you doctor think its worth the risk of the infection not to take them?

From what I understand D-mannose is only effective against E. Coli but at least it seems to be helping.

I am not sure what category they are since we haven't discussed them in depth. D Mannose does help well but as soon as I reduce or quit the problems return. Not sure why.

I wanted to update:
D Mannose restored me to the point where I felt infection free. I was even be able to be up a fair amount and urinate even after walking around! That was a first in one month.
But we ran out of D Mannose before the new supply got here and had to greatly reduce the dose. My bladder started feeling a bit worse but nothing too crazy. Today I started different antibiotics, cat. B (Amoxillin) in the hopes it will clear it up for good. Idk how much more my digestive tract can take. I haven't gained any weight the past month.
Since taking it I feel horrible tbh. My whole pelvis is burning again. Not sure it has to do with it though, since that doesn't make sense. Maybe it is the aftermath of reducing D Mannose but I am tired of this mot going away for good.

Oh man. Why on earth would u even try having sex steer clear Hun that's a big uti culprit. Hopefully things will stabilize and infection will calm down once and for all... Hope baby gets off the bladder soon so u can feel relief xx

At this point I don't even think it is the bladder so much. Just no antibiotics seem to work.
My husband was very pushy and did not believe it would come back. He is very difficult when it comes to that. He will just mope around all day and try to start a discussion about it or convince me 24/7 ...it can be so annoying.

Though, my OB also said if the stix say the infection is clear there should not be a risk.

It could also simply have returned because it cleared up again with D Mannose, I stopped D Mannose and it was back within 2 days without any sex.

Oh that's tough Hun. I hope it clears soon! In any case id steer clear of sex period. When I had chronic uti the dr would tell me sex was a huge trigger as bacteria can build easily in ureters. Do what u feel most comfortable. Regardless of your partner being a baby about it , I would just abstain incase it may be of some small help xx

Feels like I am back to 0 after at least being able to be up half of the day.
Since the infection returned after quitting D Mannose we gave another antibiotic a try. I wasn't doing bad, I had been out for 4 hrs while being able to pee without problems. Just my bladder was having some issues again.
Started the Amoxillin and almost immediately started feeling bad, getting worse every day. My digestion immediately worsened and my intestines and colon started hurting. After 3 days I was only peeing drops, kidneys hurt as well as bladder and my colon was on fire. I actually needed painkillers cause I was shaking in pain. Quit the antibiotics but can not digest anything or eat without everything hurting like hell. Bladder and kidneys improved with more D Mannose and GSE. I won't quit this any time soon but It will ruin us financially. I am trying to sell belongings on Ebay atm...handbags, watches, clothing, baby carriers etc. I can't stand up without horrible pain, if the baby is in a weird position or kicks the pain is almost unbearable. Really not enjoying this atm...
