What vaccinations do they need and when?
I would take him to the vets for a thorough checkup when you get him, they will tell you about the vaccinations they need while you are there and give you info on a worming and de fleaing program.
When and how often do they need worming?
It depends how young he is when you get him. Kittens 6-16 weeks of age should be treated every 3 weeks, then 3 monthly after that. Ideally should protect from tapeworm, hookworm and roundworm. Drontal is a good one or you can get something called Revolution here which does fleas and worms which is

plus it's a spot on treatment (no pills) which is a double
How often do they need flea treatment?
You really need to use a high quality vet spot on treatment like Advantage, Frontline or Revolution. Advantage & Revolution are done every 4 weeks and think Frontline works for 6 weeks. Keep on top of it or your house will get fleas through it and that takes a lot of work to overcome.
What age to get them 'Done'?
6 months at the latest I would say. We took our kitten in at 4 mths and the vet said the op was a bit difficult because she was already on heat.
What kind of food is best?
Just a high quality kitten food for the first 12 mths and then the same brand but switch to adults. What you need to look for on the label is "complete and balanced." Don't give it milk unless it specially made for cats. Most cats are lactose intolerate and get sick from normal milk. As a special treat you can give him fresh meat a few times a week - chicken, fish etc.
Anything else i might need to know?
Get him microchipped. You might want to invest in a scratching post if you don't want your furniture scratched, although he might just ignore the post and go for the sofa anyway.

Toys you don't need a huge amount, honestly tying a ball of newpaper to string provides a huge amount of fun for a kitten and doesn't cost anything. You could buy a few small plastic balls from a budget store that cats just love to bat and chase around.
Can't wait to see piccies!
