Labial tears - when should they heal?

My LO is almost a week old now and I suffered bilateral labial tears that didn't need stitching. They still sting when I wee and I'm so paranoid that I'm not healing. Has anyone else had the same? When should I start feeling better?

They can take a few weeks to heal. Sorry to be gross but the wound is essentially open in a moist (ew word!) environment which you are getting wet when you wee. That all prevents it for healing quickly. When you go for a pee next use a cup or bottle of warm water and pour it over your bits as you wee. Make sure you only pat dry instead of rub. I would assume you are still bleeding so make sure you change your pad regularly to avoid infections and don't bathe in bubbles. Grazes and labial tears can often be more painful and difficult to heal than an episiotomy so be patient. Xxx

I was also told everything the pp said but to also use the flush able wipes after using the restroom....my lo is 6 weeks today and I still feel discomfort where my labia tear was on occasion but I also had an episiotomy and don't really feel discomfort there

This is exactly what my midwife said today! I got her to check as I was worried but she insists it looks clean and healthy, and is slowly healing. I just want to feel better
