Hi all,

This is for all the girls who have asked for my recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup Sugar
1 cup Dark Brown sugar (packed)
1 cup Unsalted Butter (very softened)
4 tbls water
2 tbls Flaxseed
2 cups plain Flour
2 large Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
3 cups Rolled Oats
1 or 2 cups Chocolate chips (or any other ingredient such as raisins)
2 tablespoons Debittered brewers yeast

Preparation:
Preheat oven at 375F / 190 Celsius
Mix flaxseed meal and water in a small bowl, set aside 3-5 minutes.
Cream butter and sugar until smooth and well mixed
Add eggs one at a time and mix well.
Stir flaxseed mix into butter mix and add vanilla.
Beat until well blended.
Sift dry ingredients, except oats and choc chips, and add to the butter mix.
Stir in the chocolate chips and then the oats. Refrigerate for a short while until chilled. (makes dough easier to work with)
Roll into balls and drop onto baking paper on baking sheets
Bake 8-12 minutes.

Notes:

The Flaxseed, brewers yeast, oats and butter are the key ingredients here. Use real unsalted butter as this enriches your milk. I like my cookies quite flat so I tend to flatten them down on the baking sheet with a piece if baking paper before baking. You can add as little or as many choc chips as you like or substitute for any other ingredients such as dried fruits, raisins, coconut, cherries etc..)

Any questions, post on this thread. Happy baking girls!!!

I just made these but I got the recipe from https://www.bellybelly.com.au/breas...eastmilk-lactation-cookie-recipe#.UYkYQG9BkSM

It says you get 6 dozen cookies from the mix! There's no way, i've made 20 but some are pretty big. I just slopped it onto the tray with a spoon

Will one round make a difference or should I keep baking every couple of days?

They sound delicious, I'm goin to try baking them :) thanks

Perfect! I was just about to post a thread asking if anyone had a good recipe!
How many should you eat a day to notice a difference? And where do you find is the best place to get the flaxseed and brewers yeast? (I'm also in the UK)

Celticstar, I got both the flaxseed and brewers yeast from Holland and Barratt. Although, the brewers yeast powder was hard to get as they dont always carry it in store. Had to get my sister to get it from her local store in Kent. Not sure how many to eat...I just ate them whenever I fancied!! Lol!! Especially at night as I used to be starving after feeding LO in the night so a few of them plus a banana did the trick for me!

Oh, also meant to add for my UK girlies, the butter amounts to 250g if thats easier and baking soda here in uk is actually bicarbonate of soda.

That's who I've ordered them from, I've done it online so hopefully the brewers yeast will arrive at the same time!
I just want to start making them lol

Couple more questions for you, have you tried the recipe using regular brewers yeast instead of debittered? Also, would the recipe work with either flaxseed meal or whole flaxseeds? Or does it need flaxseed meal to hold it together?

I'm in UK and got both the Flaxseed meal and the yeast from Morrisons, I used this yeast.

I've been eating 2/3 big cookies a day and I've been full and leaky since the day after baking. I was also pumping in between feeds to boost supply but it took me 2 days to get 1oz, then I made these and now dd is back to just needing one side per feed and I can pump 2oz from the other. :) I think these along with the extra pumping/feeding helped, would be interested to hear if anyone noticed a difference by just eating these.

Regular yeast isn't a galactagogue like brewers yeast so you'll only be getting the effects of the flaxseed

Celticstar, It has to be debittered as apparently regular brewers yeast has quite a strong bitter flavour so will essentually impair the taste of the cookies. I have used milled flaxseed but I think flaxseed meal is the same. Im not sure what whole flaxseed would do to the recipe, its not required to hold the recipe together, the flour and all the basic ingredients do that. I guess you could try it and let us know!

I also, pumped aswell as eating about 6-8 smaller cookies a day!! Lol!! What can I say, they're yummy!!! I defo noticed a difference after about 2-3 days. I am EBF again and I still eat 2-3 cookies a day usually and I don't seem to have any supply problems now.

Yes 2 days in ( and too many cookies to admit to) I definitely have a better supply. Thanks for sharing xxxx

Can't wait to try these after lo is here! Thanks! :)

I believe this is true. I used a lot of brewers yeast in my first batch and it was bitter but I toned it down to two tablespoons instead of 4 and the taste was fine, but you are right it's gut to be brewers yeast for the lactational effect.

I just made my first batch of these, I've ordered some brewers yeast online but it's not here yet so I used double the amount of flaxseed (linseed) but I still soaked it.
Oh my goodness they taste yummy! I put a cup of dark chocolate chips, a cup of sultanas and a teaspoon of nutmeg in as well.
Now just to see if I get any extra milk lol

Stalking this thread as I def need to try these s struggled boosting my supply with my first two and just had my 3rd yday!! :)
