lactose and soya milk

hi,

when i was a baby and toddler i was lactose intolerant. my 2 boys were both lactose intolerant from 6 weeks as well and were moved onto sma soya milk, which luckily i got on prescription.

i have enquired at my docs about putting the baby straight onto sma soya to make things easier - the fact i was and the boys were and they have said that i will have to pay for it as i cant get it on prescription anymore.

does anyone know if this is correct or if its just the doctor being stroppy and unhelpful?

my baby is being treated as lactose intolerant, they prescribe me sma LF which i think istead of being soya milk its cows milk based just without lactose, my GP told me they prefer baby to be on a cows milk base rather than completely changing to soya. i get it on prescription

Jacob is lactose intorlant, I have to pay for it because me and OH earn to much! Not sure because its a food they dont legally have to prescribe it for baba. Its completely up to the doc. When jacob was diagnosied they gave us 2 weeks worth on prescription but then they said we earned to much and had to pay as its a food not medicine XxxX

my son is on Pregestamil which is lactose free and has something to do with protein in, but i get this on prescription otherwise its just over £12 for a 430gm tin x

It costs me £76 a month alone for jacobs milk. Yet they still wont give it on prescription XxX

i've spoken to the old HV who dealt with my boys and she has said she cant see why i cant get it on prescription the fact its on my notes that i was lactose intolerant until age 5 and that both boys were as babies. she thinks that the docs probably thought i wanted the scripts now and was going to sell the milk etc.

has advised me to speak to the new HV and re-speak to docs once baby is here.
