We have the ipad too, but all K uses it for is youtube to watch videos :dohh: very rarely plays games these days so it will be going away for a few days until he gets the hang of the leappad and prefers that... i hope! :haha:

For anyone getting these - the Leap Pad (and 2) comes with absolutely NOTHING. I was talking to the guy in Smyths yesterday asking does it come with a power cable etc and he said they don't come with anything at all. So bear in mind that you'll probably need to get an adaptor for it (seemingly it eats batteries), a case, headphones etc as well as any game cartridges.

It's not all bad news - I was reading online last night that it's just an AC adaptor needed so most of us will have one of those from other things and can use that. Also the headphone jack is supposed to be normal sized so could use any cheap/normal headphones and not have to buy the Leap Pad ones - I'm going to try get the Leap Pad ones though as he has no headphones whatsoever and he can then use them for his DS and anything else too.

Rechargeable batteries might be a good idea too if it does eat batteries.

Yep, I discovered this when I got our home too.

But on the upside I've ordered all the accessories, adapter, headphones, carry case that holds games, and too many games to go with for Christmas. No NEED for what they're charging on games for it either!!!

I've invested in rechargeable batteries for it. Works a treat. :flower:

Yeah some of the games are horrendously expensive. I've just opened JJ's Leap Pad up to set it up and downloaded the applications etc. I saw a lot of the games are like 25euro but there are some as cheap as 4euro. I bought him Jake and the Pirates but it's the Explorer cartridge. I'm thinking maybe if he has a few on cartridge and the rest downloaded then that'll leave more memory free but not sure lol. I may also download him a couple more apps - he saw the advert for the Leap Pad and on it was the Mickey Mouse creativity app so definitely going to get that one.

I'd highly recommend anyone else who's buying this to open it up, set it all up and download the apps and free apps that you get with it now - no way do I want to be fiddling with it on Christmas day so anything I get will be set up as and when. Ony thing is the box is impossible to open nicely - well for me it was - so that's gone out in the bin and the console is in the leap pad case now.

Forgot to ask - where did you get the adaptor and headphones from? xx

I've ordered them from very.co.uk, but I think amazon.co.uk have them too :flower:

I've ordered 6 games for Christmas, they'll fit into the games console carry case and it's easy for us to transport when we relocate next year. I'm adamant not to go overboard and buy loads of toys that we can't take with us or will have to be sold!

Thanks hun. You're so right I'd do the same - I got JJ's one more for when on long drives and when we go on holiday next year. Really impressed with it but I didn't want to spend too much time in the apps in case I started them off - rather have JJ start them all from the beginning himself. I did put his name in and will try get his photo onto it too before giving him it - he'll think Santa set it up all specially for him:haha:
