Let the August Babies Be Born!

Are doctors putting a lot of faith into their weight predictions?? I haven't even had a single weight guess here, other then doc saying "I think it'll be an average size baby" as though that's the most general statement ever :P We only get one really scan until we start going over due, and that was back at 20 weeks. Not much of an indicator.

Was visiting a girlfriend who had an elective CS two weeks ago, and they predicted her LO would be about 8 lbs. He was just over 6 :P Makes me squirm to think of how off they can be with weights. Talked to a ton of friends on the weekend that had inductions due to size or CS, and their doctors were never close to right about the weights. In both directions!

My doctor does say it's give or take 20-30% either way. A prediction is never going to be that far out really. I know with my first they predicted she was small cause she stopped growing but she popped out weighing 7lbs 1oz at 39+4. X

I had pre e with my first as well and I think right around now is when I developed it. That had been my main concern this whole pregnancy. Just because I had it before doesn't mean I'll get it again. When I went to my last specialist appt I seen the nurse practitioner and she made it sound like it was inevitable, that I'd soon get pre e again...totally upset me until I talked to my OB. They say her belly is big (90%tile at 32w) and they worry about her shoulders getting to broad for vaginal....but ultimately it is my OB and my decision...but we will talk more after that scan....I've accepted the fact that I may need a RCS but I'd really like to have a TOLAC if everything is ok and I'll talk more about it.

Awnmyown- my doctor told me the could be off by a pound either direction. I'm diabetic so they do multiple growth scans, usually it ends up being once a month.

I'm due at the very end of August so I'll probably be the last haha, but it's still next month!

I go between being excited for him to get here, and wanting to postpone it as long as possible to enjoy just having one child. We have stuff planned every weekend now until my due date to try to pack in as much stuff with my son before he has to share us.

I have my last ultrasound this Thursday to check his size and position, then an OB appointment after. I imagine I'll be going to appointments every two weeks for the next 4 weeks and then an appointment every week once I hit 37 weeks. That's how my OB was with my last pregnancy anyway.

I am also nowhere even close to being prepared for his arrival. Like his room is empty finally, it just needs to be vacuumed and everything needs to be set up. I basically just have stashes of stuff in my closet, waiting on my husband to bring up the furniture from the basement.

We have a baby

Thera I'm due near the end of August too. I haven't went over my due date yet in past pregnancies but this little girl is stubborn so there's always a chance I'll be one of the last ones too :)

Awn how many weeks was she before her baby was born when she had that estimate? Sometimes it can be way off if the measurements are taken weeks before giving birth. I was always told that typically babies gain a half pound a week in the third trimester, but not always. Some weeks they can gain more, other weeks they may not gain as much, so it's really just a guess. Also, if she had a scan done really late, measurements can be off because they can't see all parts of the baby as clearly since there isn't as much room in there.

Thanks lilmisscaviar, for the reply, however when I click the link it says content unavailable, perhaps due to privacy setting, is there any other way (like if I send a friend request to you or any other admin) to join the group. Many thanks

Thank you to everyone 💙 he is tiny but perfect. Cannot wait to get home but it will be Friday at the very earliest

Is anyone else preparing for labor? I've started drinking raspberry leaf tea. My midwife suggested I drink a cup a day from 33 weeks and gradually increasing to 3 cups a day. I have to admit that I have had more BH after starting on the tea than before.

I've been drinking it but not had any BH whatsoever!! Starting to wonder if something was wrong :(

I've been drinking the tea. There have been a few BH but not sure if this is due to the tea or just body getting ready normally.
I have started doing perineal massage too.
I'll probably start packing my hospital bag this week. :)

We're preparing by hiring a DOULA! :D And stocking the fridge with labor foods and drinks to get us through the early hours (FTM, so we suspect it'll be a long wait). Oh, and lots of bd'ing, but not really for the purpose of starting labor, just for the fun of it ;) Cause it's gonna be a long wait to get approval to start again post baby!
