When did u start using one of these with lo? We have the silvercross 3d pushchair and wondered why people use lightweight ones when they already have travelsystem pushchairs!

Please help a confused mummy! X

I've only had a maclaren techno XT for all 3 of my children and used from birth for all 3. Worked fine for me, kids loved it and very resiliant and tough! Never had a single problem with any part of it and its used day in day out, in every season, for 5 years now :)

Why? Travel systems can be big to store and fold away, heaVy to carry and push. I love lightweight buggies, they are a joy to pop in the car, lift up stairs...

Travel systems are great for little babies, especially the carrycot bit & car seat attachment. However, as AtomicPink said, they are very big & bulky so when the LO grows out of the carrycot & carseat people tend to go for something lighter & smaller to foldaway.

I've got the Mamas & Papas Ultimo MPX, which we bought 2nd hand off a friend. It's 8years old & onto the 4th child. But not one child has used the pushchair seat unit! I might actually use it this time!

We have a bebecar grand style pram/travel system and it was very big and bulky and only suitable for walking, no good for public transport or anything. We never used the pushchair part either cos Oliver looked so tiny in it cos he was prem. The only thing we used was the car seat. Plus we were never able to go out and take the pram cos the chassis was the only thing that fitted in, especially if we had my OH's other two kids. It is a gorgeous pram but in the end we gave in and bought a Koochi lightweight buggy that was suitable from birth. I originally wanted the traditional Silver Cross big carriage one when I found out I was preggers, so glad I never!

Bethan went into a lightweight buggy at about 6 months, and we used the nice and cheap, Mamu buggy. Folds quite small, and quite light, and a lot cheaper than others I've seen.

I have the Mama's and Papa's Ultma travel system which I absolutely adore. I also have the M+P Frankie buggy. We bought this to go on holiday with because we wouldn't have been able to fit the luggage and the Ultima into the boot.

I love having the option to use either. If I'm going into town shopping the Ultima is brilliant because it has a huge basket underneath.

If I'm just popping out for a quick walk or on a train then the buggy is brilliant.

Either one works well on the bus so that's not an issue!

At the moment DH car shares so I get to use the car every other week. I tend to leave the Ultima in the boot of the car and use the buggy when DH has the car because it takes up less space in my hallway lol!

I'm fed up of my Bugaboo Cam now I want to trade it in an get the lightest pushchair available.
