--Lion Cubs - Mummy and Baby Group!-- We are all One Year Old!

Hey girls

Well I had my weigh in yesterday and my new stats are as follows:

13 stone 7 lbs when pregnant
12 stone 4 lbs after babs arrived.
24th October 12 stone - must have lost 4 lbs in fluid somewhere
31st October 11 stone 12 lbs - Loss of 2 lbs
7th November 11 stone 11 lbs - Loss of 1 lbs
14th November 11 stone 8 lbs - Loss of 3 lbs
Target is 9 stone 7 which is pre pregnancy weight and I would be happy to get there by the start of Feb when I go back to work or even under 10 stone.

am a bit confused though as the stas above are from my own scales but I have been double checking on the wii fit which does make me a few lbs lighter but I said I would follow my own scales as we only got the wii fit when I was about two months pregnant so I'm not sure what I was prepregnancy on the wii. Every week they have both tallied but this week my own scales says I have lost 3 lbs but the wii fit says I have only lost one so I dont know what is going on - I'm terrified though that my own scales might be a bit tempermental and the wii fit is probably more accurate - ah well I will see what next week brings.

Wobbles: Thanks for that info - I didn't realise the author had sued another site - definitely best to ban her name and books names then.

Mollyapple: Natasha had a slight bit of cradle cap and I put some vasaline on it a few hours before washing her hair and I then used the dentinox - like Aunty E though I like the smell of it.

Cleck: Ah I'm so delighted that Emma has gained weight and you are feeling better about it now. So glad your house wasn't flooded that must have been super scary.

MJ: Yep you are right that is the book I was talking about - a friend gave me her first book about routines with sleep and feeding and being honest I thought it was way too strict for me anyway - the weaning one is good though and gives a great step by step plan.

AuntyE: I felt a bit the same as you about Natasha when she was born like we weren't connected properly and it took a few weeks for that to happen - I knew I loved her but it took a couple of weeks before I felt in love with her if you know what I mean and now I can't get enough of her and I love her so much I hurts lol. I think it is partly after having the episiotomy and forceps and such a long labour I was totally exhausted and my body was traumatised for the first week weeks I think. Regarding episiotomy DH says it feels the same down there - we waited until a few weeks ago as I was still so sore so maybe it would have felt different the first few times if we had of done anything sooner I dunno.

Ruby: DH says it isn't any tighter or looser with me lol - I find it still slightly tender though.

Well AFU - Myself and DH went to Dublin yesterday with my sister and her husband and I managed to get a dress for Natashas christening next week - Its just a plain black dress - nothing really appealed to me with carrying the extra weight but I will be respectable which is what counts - I hate clothes shopping anyway at the best of times so am glad that it is over, I did enjoy shopping for Natasha's christmas clothes though and got the cutest little red dress and cream bolero and fur coat - my sister had to nearly pull myself and DH out of the childrens section of M&S and Next - We wanted to buy everything they were all so cute lol. My mam took Natasha as it is a two hour journey to get there and we would have been under pressure to get everything done and work around feeding and changing - It was the first full day I was without her and I missed her terribly - especially every time I saw a pram and at once stage a little baby smiled at me as I walked past and I kind of welled up ha ha.

Well my little lady is waking up after a snooze so I'm gonna run.

Cleck - cripes, about the flooding! I am really glad your house didn't get ruined and you are back home now. Also dead chuffed for you about Emma's weight gain - great feeding going on there!

MJ - I went swimming today only to find that the pool was closed - grrrrrrrrrrrr. I was really looking forward to it as well. SO I came home and did about two thirds of teh Davina DVD before SOphia stopped laughing at me and wanted feeding. Will call the pool tomorrow to see if it is open and try and go as David is off work this week so can mind SOphia. Well done on your swim - 40 lengths is great! I hate swimming when it is busy - my biggest bug bear is women who go swimming ot have a chat and swim in pairs side by side slowly and don't move! Go to a cafe if you want a chat!

jelr - well done on the weight loss - defo go with your regular scales (especially if they give you a bigger weight loss ;op)

As for us - well we went out last night and left Sophia for the first time with someone else - my dad. We got home at 11pm to find my dad still sat up with a fast asleep baby (she usually goes down about 9.30pm). She hadn't taken her bottle, but didn't cry she was just too sleepy. Anyway we put her to bed expecting her to wake up at some ungodly hour for teh first time in weeks for a feed. Well she didn't! She woke up at 7am as usual! That means she went from 6.30pm to 7am without a feed! Very weird!! SO we have tried putting her down earlier tonight to see if she does the same again. She was in bed for 7.30pm so I'll let you know when she wakes up. Imagine if she started sleeping for 12 hours a night!! Saying that I miss my night time cuddles!
My nan, died on Friday. She slipped away peacefully which was a relief. I had company all weekend and they were here when I found outr so I have tried to put it to the back of my mind and not think about it. Therefore have not had a good cry yet - only a matter of time though!
I am dreading my weigh in on Tuesday - I have just eaten so much this weekend - my prediction is a gain of at least 2lbs - oh well, I deserve it after eating such a lot of rubbish. I'd love to say I will do better this week but my Hubby is off work so will probably be out for lunch a lot. Never mind!!

I felt a bit the same as you about Natasha when she was born like we weren't connected properly and it took a few weeks for that to happen - I knew I loved her but it took a couple of weeks before I felt in love with her

I *kind of * felt a bit like that when Adam was born, well, I never felt a disconnect, and I always loved him, but it took a few weeks for me to feel I knew him. He was a little stranger in lots of ways, I didn't know what he liked or didn't like, didn't feel like I knew what I was doing most of the time, and then after a few weeks things slotted into place. Now he's so familiar to me and we have really bonded. I felt we bonded quickly anyway but it feels different now I know him.

Have to say, having the 4D scan *really* helped, though, because I had a very good idea of what he looked like, and he was just exactly like that when he was born, it made it a bit easier.

Jelr, well done on the 3lb this week, that's fab, are you pleased? keep going at that rate and you'll be at your target in no time. How long are you planning to stick to the strict diet?

Shiv, so sorry to hear about your nan :hugs: - I don't know if you believe in "a better place" but if you have suffered and have been in pain, it must be a relief to be free of it. :hugs:

that's a pain in the arse about the pool being closed but yay for doing Davina! How was it? I have still to crack open my DVD... Last year I swam a lot, I wasn't working much so went most days, and one day I went and the pool was closed - it ended up not reopening for 6 weeks because of legionella in the pipes. I went to a different pool in the meantime. even though that pool is open againand has been for a while, I am not going to take Adam there, it's an old council pool and I cannot get the legionella out of my head.

as for us - well, I did my weigh in this morning and I am down the grand total of 1lb. still, it's better than nothing, so I am being positive about it (even though I would have rather it said 10lb down!) so I am currently at 10st 11lb. not sure where I am counting my weightloss from - from pre-AE, it is 2st 1lb, post-AE, 1st 1lb. guess it should be from post-AE. 15lb then. and 21 to go. crikey, 21lb...

bad chocolate day yesterday, need to get back on track. had 1/2 a dark Bounty, a little Milky Way, a multi-pack bar of Dairy Milk (damned offer, 4 bars for £1) and 5/6 of another bar. :(

Adam is fine, my anxiety is still annoyingly ever-present... can't believe it is a year since he was conceived... it was the first night of I'm a Celebrity... last year, and now it's started again, so weird. what a year...

oh, and I've started thinking about Christmas. am not going to get much for Adam, just some things that I'd have been getting for him anyway because he won't understand it and I don't really want the day to be anything much different from our usual day. we're going up to my mum & dad's, so we have the long drive, which we're doing early Christmas Eve, leaving about 4am like we did when we went up a month ago. it's just going to be us and them, my brother & sil aren't coming over this year. I need to get him some more toys as he doesn't have much, just some stuffed animals, the dangly things that hang off his bouncing chair and an activity mat for him to lie on his tummy (which he hasn't yet got much interested in yet, when he's on his tummy he's concentrating to much on *that* rather than wanting to be playing with things). I'd love to get a jumperoo but we really have no room and I believe they take up a lot of floor space. I thought about this but Chris isn't keen, I need to work on him... still, he'll soon be too big for his moses basket and once that's no longer sitting in the living room we'll have some more room... I need to get some more story books as well.

Hey guys, not feeling too good today, Jesse is doing good though he's had an off few days, he was off his food and just would not drink his milk would only have juice, he seems better today though even though he still woke up at 3 like he has the past few days when he normally sleeps til 8. He is still not quite normal thoughhe had 5oz of milk about 9 then 11 he had his mango baby brekkie less than normal though and another 4oz he's watching tv atm after tiring himself out tryna roll over on his gym and banging his head on the floor :( I'm gonna try him with some dinner and a bottle when he starts fussing so fingers crossed,

on the weaning thing I think it's best to just go with your baby, I spoke to my doctor and she said I was fine to start cus of his weight, Jesse was not settling at all with just milk ad I wasn't gonna leave him hungry and he's much happier for it, :)

I wouldn't worry about weights either they're all differant shapes and sizes, Jesse was 16lb 7 over a week ago and he was 3months yesterday, he's following the 91st line in the red book, but he's quite short and wears 0-3 clothes..

They are all different gonna have to cut this short cus Hes started whining xx

Hey ladies! I'm so glad other people felt the same way I did after the birth. I did wonder if I was just a hard-hearted witch, but just kept quiet about it ;) I did kind of resent her for a little bit for turning her head and getting stuck, after it had all gone so well and it was so nearly a textbook labour. Oh well. There's always next time :)

Cleck, when are you pumping? I can't get anything out unless I do it first thing in the morning, or after I've missed a couple of feeds. Massaging your boob first will help flow as well, and if you can manage it, I sometimes express on my right boob (I'm right handed) while feeding Mog propped up on a cushion on my left, and again, the milk flow is much better as my boobs are 'primed'. It's so frustrating when it won't work properly, I hope it gets a bit easier!

I wanty to get some nice pictures done of Imogen so I can frame them for various relatives for Christmas, can anyone suggest anywhere in London? If I was at my mum's house, I know her shopping centre always has photographers around now, but I've never seen them in London. :(

Time for twelve week vaccs tomorrow. Hope I don't have to wait for three hours again this time, I was so cross and she was so unhappy by the time they stabbed her it was a really miserable experience. We were supposed to have moved before they were due. grumble grumble.

As for the old bedroom department, I remember it was a bit sore the first time or two, so maybe you're right, and it was a bit 'tighter' after the stitches and then relaxed back to normal again. It certainly feels the same now, although I'm not getting a mirror out to have a look just yet.

My tummy is irritating me - I don't feel like I'm that much bigger, but NONE of my old clothes fit comfortably on my bottom half, and I had to try on (make that unpack, and try on) half my wardrobe yesterday before I found an appropriately formal skirt for a memorial service that would do up. And I still had to wear control pants and leave the top of the zip undone. Grumble. After Christmas, I'm definitely going on a diet.

Aunty E- Well I pumped late at night when the baby hadn't woken for her feed and my boobs felt full and kinda irritating. I did it for about ten minutes and only got 1 ounce. Than the next day I did it just in the middle of the day. No real timeframe and I got the second ounce out. Unfortunately that all went to waste with our power going out because it thawed out in the freezer. And I've looked it up and they are saying you can't refreeze breastmilk. So all that work was for nothing. But I'm going to start pumping again in a few weeks because I'm going to try my best to make it to six months before feeding solids and if breastmilk only lasts in a freezer for three months than I need to wait a bit longer before building up a supply.

God, Adam has been a right little monster today... screaming like a banshee, real tears, wouldn't be calmed down... think he's growth spurting because he's going less time between feeds, but even so I didn't think it was food he was after. Well he wouldn't have the Pooh chair, wouldn't lie down, clean nappy didn't cheer him up, he didn't want to be in the sling, and then my trump card, the birthing ball, failed... ack  (me as well) So I offered food. Refused to latch on, then wouldn't suck on the bottle... eventually after trying everything again he decided he would try the bottle and bingo. Now I have a different baby happily bouncing in the Pooh chair. Honestly, he's like a baby possessed when he gets going. Thank GOD he isn't like that every day, he had me demented for a few minutes.

Evening ladies, hope you are all well.

We're not bad, daddy has gone fishing (so hopefully cod for tea tomorrow) so its just me and Imi. She's been a right grumpy bum so early night me thinks :) Last 3 nights she has gone a minimum of 11 hours tho so :happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

MJ - sounds like Adam has been like Imi. Nothing i could do would settle her properly, until she finally fell asleep while trying to roll (see lion cubs album ) I think she's in a growth spurt too as she hasn't gone more than 2 hours without wanting bottle today. The inbetweeny time, i've just made her 2 - 3 ozs and that seemed to settle her abit! She's a bit more chilled out now too thankfully!! I like that activity station, think its cool, especially with the bright colours. We are looking at a jumperoo or similar for Imi :) O and i'm with you on the bad day yesterday. I made the mistake of having a cup of tea when Top Gear was on and opened a packet of fruit shortcake biscuits!! Between 3 of us, we ate the whole pack :dohh:

Aunty E - Hope Imogens jabs go well tomorrow and that they don't keep you waiting this time. We just had Imi's photos done in PixiPhoto up here which is in Mothercare. Not sure but they may be worth a look? :)

Well I spoke too soon, she started again and has just settled a bit after a cuddle. Think its gonna be a long night :dohh:

Boothh - hope Jessee has his bottle, maybe he's feeling abit under the weather if you are :)

Shiv - how did the revised bedtime go? Imi is going about 12 hours now and she isn't screaming for food when she wakes either! Hope you had a nice time out tho x

jelr - glad you managed to find something to wear for Natashas christening. I know what you mean about next, altho we went in on Saturday and after seeing everything I wanted about 2 weeks ago with mum, it was all gone when i wanted to show DF :dohh:

cleck - fab news about Emmas weight gain, when do you next have her "officially" weighed? :nope: at your weather, but so glad you are all OK. Do you get it alot like that?

Mollyapple - so please you have your cat back hun :)

Well, i weighed in today and after my awful weekend, i have lost the grand total of 0 :( Still its not a gain I suppose :( Must try harder!

O and ladies, should I be worried about Imi's lack of interest being on her front? She does not even try to hold herself up, far more interested in sucking her hand! Because of this she has no interest in rolling!! However, she is going from her back onto her side and almost front 3 times today, if only her arm wasn't in the way!!

And finally, how often do you have to have your LOs weighed nowadays?

Shiv- I have still not left Emma with anyone. I haven't even left her side for more than 30 minutes really when DH has her to give me a break. Hope you had a good time out! Were you worried the entire time?! I feel like I'd probably be a mess. hehe. And I'm so sorry to her about your Nan. I know you guys were expecting it but it is still so, so awful to lose someone.

Boothh-I'm so sorry that Jesse is feeling badly. :nope: Hope he feels better soon!

MJ- Aww :hugs: Sorry he was being difficult for you. I've had those moments where I just want to yell 'what is wrong?!' And about a jumperoo I hadn't really put much thought into it but seeing Shadow's video of Vince has made me start looking into things like that. :haha:

Vici- Emma's next official weigh in is on the 30th. And I'm ashamed to say it but this is her first appointment since she was two weeks old. By the time we got her insurance all figured out they were all booked up so her 'two month' appointment is more like a three and a half month appointment. Her first shots are than as well. I know pretty much all of you girls have already had several rounds of shots. Or jabs in your case. :haha: And as for the weather. I've only been living here for a little over 5 years and we have had a few hurricanes go by but nothing actually hit dead on so it was just lots of wind and rain but this last storm was by far the worst I've seen since being here. We've never had to evacuate like that before. Scary but exciting at the same time!

I wouldn't worry a bit about her rolling. You'll probably be surprised one day and she just does it out of nowhere. And what is it with these LO's and their hands. Emma constantly has hers in her mouth too! I have trouble getting good pictures anymore without her hand in the way. :dohh:

And as for weigh-ins. My appointments were supposed to go 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months. Who knows how it'll be since I'm so behind on them. We never had weekly weigh-ins or anything like that. But I weigh her a few times a week on the Wii Fit. I'm not help being in the US though. Things are done so differently with the healthcare systems being completely different.

Just to let you know.. I rang nhs direct about jess not eating the suggested it's probably his teething pain getting worse and the teat hurting his mouth the nurse said to give him calpol and neurofen alternatly every 3 hours and to wake him up in the night for it too, so since he's started on medicine at 3 he's had a good 15oz and he went to bed at 8 about to give him his next dose it seems to be working so maybe we will be seeing a peggy soon!

Aww I really hope he feels better soon. Poor guy. I'm not looking forward to the teething days.

Does anyone's little ones actually have little teeth sticking out yet? :haha:

:hugs: thanks for making me feel better about his weight. As for my weight I've just eaten most of a chocolate orange bugger!!! Oh well I'll go for a long walk tomorrow.

As for weening, Samuel will be 4 months Christmas day so he's going t have something then (sorry if I already said this) I'm so excited.

I have him weighed every 2 to 3 weeks and I'll carry this on for a while as my friend had her baby yesterday, a little boy, 9lb called Connah, awww makes me even broodier! Anyway so we can go get them weighed together.

Awww hope he feels better soon. I'm suspicious that Sam is teething too, he's chewing and dribbling loads. He has very lumpy bottom to his top gum too which is new.

This may be a completely stupid question but do the teeth come at random or is there some sort of order to it. Like bottoms vs. tops, etc. Emma has two little whiteish spots on her bottom fronts but not sure if that has anything to do with teeth or not.

Cleck I think the front bottom 2 come through first followed by the top 2 - but I may be wrong!

Booth - hope Jesse feels better soon

MJ - hope Adam settles for you, and Imi for you Vici.

MJ, I don't kno whow much smaller the one you are looking at it compared to the jumperoo? Looks like fun though! Well done on the weight loss - a lb is better than nothing and certainly better than mine will be tomorrow! The pool was closed again today (I phoned this time!) and when I asked how long it was gonna be shutthey said they didn't know, so I asked why it was closed and they were very evasive! I pay a monthly subcription to a health club where I only use the pool so I am gonna see if I can get some money back if it is out of use for much longer - very inconvenient! I laughed thinking of you knowing when AE was conceived cos of I'm a celeb!

Cleck - suprisingly we didn't worry too much, only checked my phone once! It did feel very weird with both of us out without Sophia but I enjoyed myself and she was good for her grandad.

Pip- yum chocolate orange!

Well Sophia slept right through until 8.15am this morning - so that is nearly 13 hours. Why do I find thsi worrying rather than good! She didn't go down until 9.30pm tonight though so who knows!

Sophia has her second set of jabs tomorrow - then we are travelling up to Essex to stay with my bro, then up to Harrogate the following morning. I am dreading the drive to Harrogate and really can't be arsed, but we are staying with my best friend who is 30 weeks preggo (I am gonna get really jealous!), so I can't expect her to come to me!! Feel like I am coming down with something, headache, sore throat, sniffles - cold coming my way me thinks - boo hiss.

Anyway - bed time for me I suppose. Probably won'tget on here while I am away, but I will try and log on quickly before we leave tomorrow to give teh results of my (disasterous) weigh in. Should give you ladies a giggle at least!!:dohh:

Hey girls

Shiv: So sorry to hear about your nan - I know you were expecting it but it doesn't make it any easier - I hope your Grandad and mum are okay too. I'm so glad you enjoyed your night out - It does feel weird when they are not around doesn't it - the first night we went out all we did was talk about her lol.

MJ: Yeah that is exactly the way I felt like she was a stranger to me and I definitely knew I loved her but I wasn't in love the way I expected motherhood to feel - It took about 2 to 3 weeks I think and now that feeling is even stronger than I expected. Well done on the weight loss 1lb is better than nothing - I'm only doing this week on the strict diet and if I do lose another 3lbs I will do another week before Christmas - it is too hard to maintain all of the time so it will just be healthy eating for me next week. I think the activity centre is cool - I am trying not to get too much either as I know she will get lots as we both have big families so I'm just going to get the jumparoo and a cick and play thing. Hope Adam is more settled now.

Booth: Poor Jesse - I hope the calpol and ner work soon and those teeth break through soon.

AuntyE: I think most women probably feel a bit disconnected after giving birth - we all have these great expectations like on the tv when the reality is we are exhausted and our bodies have gone through a trauma - I know I definitely wasn't myself for the first 2 to 3 weeks - Hope Imogens Vaccines go well - Here in Ireland the next lot are not until 4 months.

Vici: That is a right pain that the stuff was gone - have you tried online as they also sell that way so you may have a chance that they were only out of stock in that shop. I hope Imi is more settled not too. Natasha is not very interested in her front either - some days she holds her head up for a minute or two but most of the time she just grunts and gives out and suck the blanket she is on. Well done on the weight as least you didn't put anything on when you had a bad week.

Cleck: I love the new pic of Emma in the red dress, it is gorgeous - As far as I know there is a particular pattern in which teeth come in I just can't remember what it is - you would probably find it online, I know I have it in some of the books I have.

Pippin: ah that is great news about your friend. Sam and Connah will be great friends I bet. Yum yum for the chocolate orange.

AFU: Thanks for all the well wishes on the weight - I took your advice shiv and decided to go ahead and order the jumparoo - I was planning on getting it in Smyths or Argos as they have €20 off bringing the price down to €120 but I managed to get it from amazon for only €75 with free shipping so I'm delighted so I'm gonna get a kick and play thing that I have seen also with the extra money. I think Natasha is trying to laugh but its funny and sounds a bit like a fake cough - I can't wait until she does a real belly laugh. Didn't do much today only housework and I changed the bedclothes in the two spare rooms as we have relatives staying over the weekend for the christening.

jelr- Emma's first laughs were fake cough sounding ones. I think your LO is on her way to having real laughs!! You'll probably be in for a happy surprise very soon!
