Lovely sleepy baby today :) So I'm running around like a mad thing packing! Not restful, but I certainly feel a lot better about things.

I'm not going to baby groups yet because I'm moving, and because I refused the TB vaccination, so after I move I'm looking forward to doing a bit of that. Not a lot I guess, as I'll be going back to work in the not too distant future :(

Hi all

Sorry I haven't been on I have been reading throughout the week but haven't had enough time to reply as I was up to ninety getting ready for Natasha's christening.

I wont try and reply to all as you have been much too chatty over the last week to reply to all ha ha.

But I do want to say Samstar - I really hope Elin gets her op soon. :hugs: to you honey.

Vici: So sorry to hear about your mums friends son - it really is such a tragidy for someone so young to die because of stupidity.

Shiv: I hope your dad gets good results.

Well AFU: I would love to meet but being in Ireland I definitely wont be able to do it in January - Keep me up to date on the next one and we will see how things go.

Cleck like you - I really dont think I could manage a baby and luggage and prams etc on my own in an airport so DH would have to come with me and he only gets designated holidays throughout the year so it would have to tie in with that at some stage and we would also have to see how funds are. But I will be with you in spirit also like Elly. Ye better take loads of pics for us to see.

Well we had the christening on Sat and it was a great day - we had the church ceremony at 3 and then 70 family and friends went back to the local hotel for dinner - most people headed of after this and we came home for an hour and got Natasha ready for bed and my mam took her for the night and we headed back down to the hotel and spent the night there with our closest friends - It was a great day and Natasha was as good as gold for the whole day and there wasn't a peep out of her which was great as she had had a really unsettled week and didn't get much sleep and was fairly cross - due to teeth I think as she is trying to get two fists in at the moment and her jaws are fairly red, but thank god she settled down for the day.

Well I'm not staying on this long as I got my swine flue vaccinne yesterday and am really not feeling the best and like you MJ and Grumpymoo I'm really hoping swine flue will be gone by the time they start on infants in the country as I'm fairly sick today and really would be wary of giving it to Natasha - I didn't sleep well last night and had a headache, earache and am all aches and pains today and I'm freezing all day but yet woke up in a sweat this morning so I would say I have got some flue symptoms from it.

Well I'm gonna run and get some shut eye not that the little lady is sleeping.

:hugs: to you all. Xx

Chatty ladies!

MJ you made me think of a question with your Quality Street consumption issue!

In my experience in the UK most families at Christmas had (when I was little anyway and the choice was more restricted than now!) either Quality street or Roses. Which were you ladies?!?!?

I was and still am firmly a Quality street gal. When I was round at my parents the other day I saw they had got a tin in ready for Christmas - made me feel very festive!!

Anyway - that was kinda pointless but am interested to see which comes out on top!

Well done Vici on your 5lbs! That is good going. ANd MJ well done on maintainging despite the choc consumption! I am aiming for 2lbs loss this week. Am trying to be quite strict and am planning on doing Davina later today! (that sounded a bit rude :haha:)

JELR - glad the christening went well - I haev already spied your lovely pics on facebook! Hope you feel better after your nap honey

I have started making a Christmas cake as my mum has not been able to (what with Nan and all - funeral on Thursday by the way - dreading, I've never been to one before). The fruit is busy soaking in brandy and I'll bake it tomorrow. God only knows how it will come out and I don't even like fruit cake!! It does mean that Iwon't be baking any othercakes this week so hopefully that means I won't be eating too much cake either!

Oh Vici- It's just so horrible still and to see that in the paper must've been hard. It's hard for me to even read.

Rubyrose- I agree with you that the swine flu was just blown completely out of proportion. We are under the impression that my husband already had the swine flu. The doctors told us the 'regular' flu wasn't in this area yet and he had the whole thing with sore throat, fever, headache, achy body, etc. He got over it in a few days and neither the baby or I got it. We weren't even all that careful to NOT get it. I understand that it hits some worse than others but if it really is what DH had, it wasn't bad for him. Just like a normal flu. (of course he complained the whole time but he's a big baby.:haha:)

jelr- Hope you feel better soon! :hugs:

Hey guys, have read most of latest posts but not got energy to reply just now, sowwy  ... Just had my coil fitted, it wasn't very pleasant and now I'm all hurty  But it'll be a damn site better than raging bloody hormones and emotions every month on the pill!

Will catch up properly later or tomorrow, but just quickly, Jelr, sorry you can't come in Jan :( But hope you can make the summer meet!! Shiv, glad you will be coming, we're not scary monsters hehehe... We've all got to take the plunge and trust that everyone else isn't a loony  Really look forward to meeting you and Sophia!! Will add you to confirmed list on front page :winkwink:

Hugs all round, and notorious absence from weigh in for now as I've been eating junk all week and tonight is fish and chips  Neither of us has the energy to cook! Naughty Shadow and Mr Shadow! :nope:

Love to all xxx

I see shadow has started Vince on solids glad it is going well!

Anyone else thinking of weaning soon? I am waiting till Archie turns 4 months and if he is the same as he is now will prob start itntroducing some mashed up rusks and baby rice as he doesn't seem settled at the mo... feeds every two hours in the day 210ml bottles and when he wakes he wants like 400mls tho to be fair he does sleep for ages...but he never seems "full" iyswim like very grouchy and fidgety after a feed though he wont take more and if he does he usually sicks up the last lot!

He is a big boy now though, he was 12lbs 2oz at his 8 week weigh in so i imagine his about a stone now he certainly feels it! So if he is the same will deffo try it at 4 months, doc said that was the minimum he reccommended so i will stick with that just incase though i know it prob wont make a difference really every baby is different as little vince proves!

Rubyrose- I keep reading about the whole weaning process! I want to learn as much as I can on it all. But we aren't ready yet. I'm going to try my best to stick to the six month rule. There are allergies in my family and I don't want to risk it. My mom just confirmed on the phone that she started my brother on solids at an early age and he is deathly allergic to all fish products. Not sure if it is a result of her early weaning but don't want to take the chance either. :haha:

I am thinking I am going to give BLW a try. But again I want to read a bit more about it. I guess you let your child decide and just put the food in front of them and let them eat on their own?! I guess it's the smoothest transition for breastfeeding babies but I definately need a book on it cause I am clueless! :dohh:

Morning ladies.

Thought I would try to upload a video of Sophia - have no idea if it will work!

Will just have to add link as don't know how to make video appear here!

Just a vid of her cooing really!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqm9Q_JaGSM

Oh and you'll need your volume right up, it is from my phone so pretty bad quality

I'm going to let Imogen decide when she wants to try solids. I've been letting her taste some of my food - funnily enough she didn't like marmite on toast ;) She has no real hand coordination yet, and she's only just three months, so I'm hoping in a month or two she'll start grabbing for things off plates. I have absolutely no desire to start pureeing things I'm afraid, so madam will just have to work it out and make do with boob until then.

Awww, Shiv, Sophia is so sweet and gorgeous! What a lovely smile she has :D

In answer to your question, I am a Roses girl in the battle with Quality Street, that is old-fashioned traditional Roses when they had the COFFEE CREAM. Still prefer modern-day Roses because I prefer Cadbury's chocolate and am no fan of toffees, so I wouldn't even eat half the Quality Streets. I still managed to eat too many the other day, though - I like caramel cup, hazel in caramel and fudge.

As for the new chocolates - I like Celebrations but was very miffed the other week when I had my tin to find a gross lack of my favourites! I actually did a stock-take, of my Celebrations and Chris's Roses, and found:

(these were the big tins)

Celebrations (95 in the tin)
20 Mars
18 Snickers
15 Milky Way
11 Bounty
11 Malteaser
9 Galaxy Caramel
6 Galaxy
5 Galaxy Truffle

Roses (83)
11 Caramel Velvet
11 Caramel Keg
10 Caramel
9 Hazel in Caramel
8 Tangy Orange
8 Fudge
7 Hazel Whirl
7 Strawberry
6 Dairy Milk
6 Brazilian Darkness

As Galaxy Truffle is my favourite I felt very ripped off.

Jelr, I loved your christening pics, you and Natasha both looked lovely and the cakes looks divine!

Rubyrose, I am hoping to leave weaning till Adam is 5-6 months old, but it depends how he is on his formula, of course. I'd only do it before then on the advice of the HV.

AFU: Adam has had a couple of days of waking early, which is a bit annoying and has left me a little tired. Plus he and I and my friend Dawn went to Bluewater yesterday on the train, and while it was fine and there was only one set of stairs in the whole trip, I was pretty exhausted and achy last night. Today I have an appointment with my shrink, and I take AE, so got to get him fed and ready to go for about 12.40pm, a bit early for him but I am not risking him screaming and hungry while we're out. I'd normally take him to the clinic to be weighed after as it's 2 weeks since the last time, but I had a call last week and the HV is coming over in the morning, so she can do it then. Not sure why she's coming... it's a bit of a pain as I have to make sure Betty is out of the way as she is phobic of cats.

Hi all thank you for your well wishes Elinor is doing really well all things considered she is just a bit swollen around the eyes now :(

About weaning i have NEVER weaned before 4 months but im actually starting to think this would be a good idea with my lil lady (obviously i would need to speak to her doc) but she is slowly weaning herself off her bottles and is only taking 4 a day (honestly she just refuses to take anymore than that!) and at certain feeds she takes less - her morning and evening - also she is getting really excited when we eat in front of her and even salivates bless her!!
Im going to have a word with my health visitor this afternoon i cant see baby rice doing any harm!!

Anyway here are a few pics of her having a bath last night thought they were cute so i will share lol!!!
She was staring at the tv bless i think she likes Gordon Ramsey!!

Hey girls

Vici: Just read that article now and god that is so sad.

Shiv: I am a roses girl - I always loved the caramel keg and orange and strawberry creams. That vid of Sophia is only gorgeous, she is such a dote. I hope the funeral goes okay for you.

Cleck: lmao at DH being a big baby - men are such babies when they are sick.

Shadow: Sorry you are hurting after your coil - hope you are better today honey.

Aunty E: I would have to agree with Imogen about the marmite yuck I couldn't stand it lol.

Rubyrose: I'm waiting until after the 17 weeks but I will probably wean Natasha before the 6 months as I want to do it before I go back to work so as I can keep a close eye on her in case she is allergic to anything and I dont know if somebody else would watch as closely. I'm going to wait and see though if she is ready for it at 17 weeks. It sounds like Archie may need something extra when he is feeding so much.

MJ: Hope the HV visit goes well - yeah the cakes were only gorgeous and I'm not even a cake person. DH two sisters got them as a christening present and we used them as dessert.

Samstar: Those pics of Elin are so cute, bless her.

Well girls I still feel pretty crappy today - my temp is back to normal but I am just shattered and my arthritis is playing up a bit - I think it is just a mixture of the christening catching up on me along with the jab and the bad weather. We are having really stormy weather over here in Ireland with lots of floods but it hasn't affected our area thank god.

Thanks for all the lovely get well comments and the lovely comments about the christening and the pics on facebook. Well I'm gonna have a lazy day again today. Xx

AE - Good luck with the move!!

Samstar - So sorry to hear Elin's news, hope she does not have to wait too long hun :hugs: oh and those pics are gorgeous!!!! :D she is so cute!!

Molly - yay for half laughs :)

Vici - sorry about your mums friends son.....thats so unfair!! wat a silly man to drink drive that really angers me :growlmad: that newspaper was very hard for me to read sorry hun :hugs: yay for getting married next yr :yipee: my best friend is an internet friend as is my ex partner.

Cleck - we will def take lots of piccies :) my OH is similar to yours and works all the time which is why I feel like a sungle mum but when he does have time and or energy he helps an awful lot!!

Grumpmoo - glad Rose is doing so well - u must have gold top milk ;)

Shadow - bless Vince with the teething and the screaming - do u think its related awww he is eating solids :munch: yummers  the coil?? eeeek u poor love I could not have that fitted!! well done :hugs:

MJ - i agree about swine flu too, hoping it would have gone soon....?? our anniversary is 4th Dec and we found out on 12th  so messed up its been a yr already??

pips - i feel i am a single parent at times OH is working 7 days a week and Adriana is asleep wen he gets in i then cook and wash up etc and he never clears HIS mess up :grr: but hey is that not my job now?? :dohh: but when he is around and not working he does have spurts of cleanng and helping and he gets her milk for me in the morning at the weekends which is always nice :D thanx for the photobox info gonna have a look now

AE - defo not a bad mum we ALL nee a mummy break :hugs:

rubyrose - i just finished my first period too - it came exactly to the day one yr after my last on started, it was painful :( glad ur settling in now hun and sorry ur having probs xxx

shiv - glad ur doing super well and had a gd time up north. hope ur dad gets the all clear :hugs: oh and we are a clear roses family - yummers, want some now :munch: but still got 19lbs to lose  well doen you on your weight loss!! goregous video of sophia :D

jelr - hope u feel better after your jab

well as for us over here, sorry it has taken me so long to get back on and reply properly i just seem to have slipped off bnb onto facebook and i dnno why cos i love this thread/group and I have missed you all it feels so long!! I guess I have not been chatty for 10weeks or so as that is how old Adriana is now, but I AM BAAAAAAAACK :yipee:

I am very very excited about the meet and looking forward to meeting you all, I have met a couple ladies off here and I can assure tyou I am no nutter!! well I might be a little mad but not in the freaky sense

We are doing really well, and I cant believe it was this cycle last year that we fell preg - it has gone all too quickly!! Adriana is in a routine now sleeps 8.30-8 now  loves her sleep which is great so we get mummy and daddy time and I am not up too early either now ;)

My little baby of the group is on 150mls now 5 times a day and does not always finish her last feed but HV said it was fine :D she weighs 11lbs 5oz now :D so exciting!! but growing too fast! we have loads of smiles and just getting a fe giggles :D

Christmas we are staying at home and then going to my psrents for dinner and my sister and bil will come down to see us!!

Hope all are ok!! lots of love and :hugs: to you all and soooooooo sorry if I missed anyone!?

Haha sam_star i love the butterflies covering elinors dignity! If you do decide on doing the baby rice will you let me know how it goes??

Mary Jo - I would be sooo annoyed if they were my celebrations!! The galaxy truffle and maltesers are my fave and I'm not keen on mars. I think i also prefer roses to quality street. I love the strawberry creams yum! Sorry Adam is waking you early and making his mummy tired though!

Aunty E - thats a good idea the way you are going to wean Imogen! Yeah there is no way Archie could take solids at the mo, even puree food really. He may be a greedy little piggy not satisfied by his milky pops anymore but his deffo not ready for any food type products yet!

Shiv - Sohpia is gorgeous!! I love the sound of babies cooing! Archie has been cooing from very early really so I've loved having the sound in my flat. :cloud9:

Cleck - think you have the right idea of trying to wait cause of the allergies! Lucky I have none to food neither does his dad or anyone else in the family! I would of reallly liked to have got to the 6 months but i don't think pigster will wait that long haha! Also same thing happened to sis in law about the swine flu, they said she had it but it was no worse than the normal flu so I'm not sure they are just saying it to everyone now who has the slightest flu symptom!

Shadow - Don't worry about the weigh in! I've not mentioned it either as I've indulged in ferro rochers and pizza...oh and curry! And lamb and potato pie...:dohh: Was the coil really bad then? I've been putting off having it fitted but i really do want it, would suit me i think.

Jelr - hope you feel better soon! Lots of hugs! :hugs: Do lounge around in bed with plenty of tea and pampering from the OH!

jai_jai - is adrianna a formula baby or breast fed? She is gaining weight very nicely! :happydance: Adrianna has the same sort of sleep as Archie! It's great they both love their sleep hehe nice break for us! :winkwink:

Me: This period is sooo painful its unreal. It is really heavy to. Sorry if tmi but last night i had a night time pad on and it was completly soaked when i woke up. In the day am wearing a tampon and a pad as the tampon is soaked within an hour and its the super flow. Someone tell me its just the first one like this?! I really want the coil... felt spoilt in those months without a period and i don't like it now!

Archie is fine...feeding like a pig as always and watches me eat with great interest but he is not ready for food his too young and he is not co ordinated enough for food! I do want to wait for the six month really but will see how his getting on at the 4 month mark! His not actually a chubby baby either his very very long! Dunno where he got that from i'm only 5'5 and hubby is 5'8 so we aint exactly tall!

Hope your all well xxxx

dont have time to update properly
just stress with the house weve found a new one but we need to find a new garantor cus OHs mum doesnt earn enough, but his dad does only trouble is hes self employed so it takes longer,

jess had his 2nd injections today and hated it, he cried as soon as we walked in so im sure he remembered what happened last time we went to the doctors, lol,

can i just recomend ellas kitchen products to everyone whos thinking about weaning soon

https://www.ellaskitchen.co.uk/

if you read the ingrediants they are really just what you would puree yourself just fruit and veg or whatever not even added water, jesse absolutley loves them, and iv tasted them all and they are all really nice!!

they are abit more expensive than average jars about 90p over jars being about 60p but i think its well worth it,

if anyone else has tried them let me no what you think,

from my point of view they are perfect cus im too lazy to puree everything myself but with these he gets the same stuff with nothing added :)

speak soon xx

Hey girls

Meant to say this morning I'm also crying off th weigh in this week - I didn't get time on Saturday with the christening and ate so much Sat and Sunday that I'm afraid to now he he. I'm back on the horse though and am just eating healthy this week and I'll weigh again on Sat.

Jai Jai: Good to see you, delighted Adriana is sleeping so well, sorry to hear you OH is working so much, mine is doing quite a lot at the moment too but at least is at home weekends.

Ruby: Can't help you on the period info as I have only had one - but my first one was really painful and extremely heavy like you are describing, hopefully our next one wont be so bad. I also had a lot of pain down below around episiotomy when I got it so I hope your not having that. Some hope with DH looking after me he is in work until 6 or 7 every evening, but in fairness he does come straight in and look after Natasha so I wont complain.

Booth: That ellas kitchen stuff sounds fantastic, I have never seen it here in Ireland though but I will keep a closer eye just in case. I am going to puree myself but that would have been so much handier.

Well girls I'm not feeling as bad this evening - so hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Hey Shadow I will definitely be bringing the little man to the meet! :yipee: Actually he's not little at all but you know what I mean :winkwink:

I've put on a pound this week  but I have had chocolate and cake everyday so I have to take it as minimal damage really. Oh well better luck with will power next week. I shall never be thin *sigh*

AFU Samuel has a cough and cold and it's so horrid hearing him cough and splutter like a little old man. he's taking it well though, sleeping lots and smiling when he's not so can't be that bad yet. Not eating very well but he has plenty of fat reserves so that's ok.

Had very busy day so knackered. :hi: to you all. xxxx
