First of all - I have never been to London

I havent a clue. Seriously.

Anyways - can someone please tell me.... what is the nearest airport to the Park Lane Hilton, and how would I get there from the airport?

Thank you so much!

Park lane is bang in the middle of central london.
You can fly to luton and get easybus to marble arch and walk to the hotel.

Stansted you can take the train to liverpool st and then the central line (red) westbound to marble arch. OR national express coach to stratford and then the central line westbound

From gatwick i would get the train to victoria

Heathrow you can get the tube or the heathrow connect to paddington and walk, you can get the heathrow express instead of the connect but ut costs loads and maybe saves you 10-15 min.

if you are flying from glasgow or edinburgh id fly to luton or stansted with easyjet and do what i suggested. I do that route quite often and luton is usually cheaper. I sometimes find BA tickets flying to and from gatwick which are not too expensive.

technically the closest airport is london city, though it is mainly used by business travellers. i flew from there last time i flew to scotland. otherwise it doesn't5 matter, it's in the middle of london so any of the london airports will get you there.

Deffo look into Heathrow too because we've actually found quite a few of our flights cheaper from/to there than Gatwick etc. And you could always use me as a taxi service then :winkwink:

You going then?

I'm gonna go in one day return  I feel I need to be there, even if its not huge, ykwim?

Also get an Oyster card if you are planning on getting the tube or bus around.

Think you pay £3 for the card, then load some money on it and off you go. You touch in on the bus and tube every time you travel and the maximum you will be charged if making lots of journeys is for a one day travelcard.

It works out a lot cheaper than paying cash. To give you an example cash for one bus ride is £2.30 but the Oyster fare is £1.35 (2012 prices though). Plus you can just keep the Oyster card for next time you visit London!

I'd just shop around and see what's cheapest, like the others say there are a few airports nearby. I would always go for Heathrow, as it has fab transport connections to everywhere in London, and my Mum works there

You forgot and Tasha lives near by :haha:

Do you need to fly? We always take the train from Edinburgh now. By the time you get to the airport, hang about etc you can do the journey from Waverley to Kings Cross.

:haha: There is a road called Waverley Place in Aberdeen, must be a Scottish thing!

Actually, getting the train is a good option. You can get a tube to Green Park, directly from King's Cross staion, and it's not many stops. You can get a tube there direct from Heathrow too, if you did want to fly. It's not a bad train journey either, I used to use that one to go from York to King's Cross a lot. It takes 4.5 hours to do Edinburgh to London. Bear in mind when flying, you need to be there around 45 minutes before the flight departs to check in.

That's why we never fly anymore. By the time you factor in hanging about in airport and transfers it is really barely quicker. And I love train travel!!!

Think Scotland is full of Waverleys Tasha! It's because of Walter Scott but I've never read it!

 you lot crack me up

Ive went for the flight to Luton at silly o'clock, no doubt I will regret this but hey i aint paying to change it now  I found out some of my friends are going too, I had no idea or I would have been harrassing them for help :muaha:
