Long Irregular Cycles 'r' Us

Yup, that will make a difference. Maybe you can set your alarm so you can take your temperature around the normal time, and go back to sleep after? I take mine at 8:30, and don't usually get up until around midday - I simply take mine while half asleep. You need to make sure you'll have had at least 3 hours of sleep before taking your temperature as well, as that too will make a difference

Update: day 69 and counting. No O.

I remember when I was on the pill I used to run 3 packs one after the other without a break (under doctors orders to try to help my endo) - and once I ran 4 together for some reason and I had a period anyway on about day 80, so I'm kind of figuring that even if I dont O, I will probably have a breakthrough bleed around then, and can then start on Clomid.

The other thing is, I'm off to Iceland with my sister on Thursday, so if sods law is working at all properly, I will of course get AF over the weekend!

We shall see.

ive posted in this thread somewhere, bit cant find it!
anyways, ive been taking agnus castus and red clover blossom tablets and well as hormonal minerals and after 21weeks of NOTHING, im finally getting movement down there, ive had a fair bit of pinnky discharge so im hoping this is the start of af

Hehe! - I thought you meant Iceland the food shop!

Hello ladies!

How is everyone doing? I posted on this forum a few days ago for the first time. Just thought I would pop back in and see how all are getting on???? We need some good news bfps!

I just posted on the TTC forum about my temps confusing me. Can anyone shed any light on this?...

https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/24a68a

I am on CD 34 and trying to work out if I ov'd yet. I started temping on CD 17 (pretty sure I hadn't ov'd by this point - i've had really long cycles since coming off the pill and didn't have any ov symptoms up to then). Ignore the first 3 temps as I had cold and sore throat. I also excluded Day 28 due to testing so late and day 30 (new Year's Day after a lot of alcohol).

My question is, does anyone think that the gap between CD 29 and 31 is a temp shift and driven by ovulation? It's so slight that I'm questioning whether it could be, but it's definitely an upward movement that hasn't come down again. Does anyone else have such a slight temp shift after ov? My CP was open for a few days last week and has now risen and closed so I'm wondering if that means I have ov'd.

Just got word that the doctor is going to put me on provera to kick start my :witch:. Then I'll have a series of blood tests (day 3, day 21) to check my hormones. I also will have an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) test. Has anyone ever had one?

:rofl: At least that'd be cheaper!!

Just looked at your chart - sorry, hadnt logged in for a few days. You may have O'd but I wouldnt count on it from your temps as since you've posted you've had those two dips on 6th and 8th. Maybe see how the next few days go temp wise. - and keep BDing so you don't miss O if it hasnt happened yet!

Have you had any EWCM or anything?

x

Thanks for that Hays1981! - How was Iceland? Was it amazing? I would love to go.

I came home yesterday - day 37 and just had this overwhelming urge to do a pg test - went to open it and noticed I was spotting. Was hoping and praying it was an implantation bleed but it's in full flow today so totally gutted! Oh well supposed I saved the test. And I've just had a 37 day cycle which is almost semi-normal! Fingers crossed it settles down and that I did actually ovulate. Am a little concerned that I didn't notice any CM around the day I would have ov'd tho.

Tempted to start opks as well this cycle.... but then that makes me a total TTC junkie I think!!!!

How is everyone else? Sorry my posts have been a little self-preoccupied on here so far! Did you start the Vit B complex Erised? Seems like it has been working for Littlestar. We need someone to get a bfp on here! Lots of baby dust! I know it is nigh on impossible for us to say most of the time, but is anyone expecting period soon? I wonder who is closest to a potential bfp at the mo??? x

 Lucy Lu, i know how you feel i used a cheapy seconds before i realised i'd started this time i was gutted.

I'm CD11 today so IF my cycles are having some normality - then i should be ovulating in the next few days.

Lucy Lu, I'm not sure whether to feel gutted for you having AF just before testing, or be happy that she's there! It's quite a short cycle, close to normal. Hopefully this one will be right on time with ovulation for you =)

Little Star, lets hope so!

As for me, I didn't start the Vit B complex yet. I'm waiting until I'm back in England as I can only get vits like that from expensive shops around here, which I don't really want to do =/ I'm having a break through bleed from not ovulating for so long ... so I've been bleeding for the last 10 days without any sign of it stopping any time soon. The raspberry leaf tea isn't doing anything so far. Going back to England on Tuesday (nooo! I thought it was Thursday =/ That just knocked 2 days off), so hopefully I'll remember to buy Vit B complex next week some time. Will also start random OPK's again then, but don't think I'll bother with the daily ones as it would obviously be a waste of money. Still haven't received the new date for my ultra sound either, but hoping that will be next week some time

Yay, my AF (or breakthrough bleed, I'm not sure) is here and that means I can start my blood tests. I am having them done on CD3 and CD21. I doubt I'll ovulate in that time since my cycles are so long, but at least I feel like something is happening. I also scheduled my HSG test for next Friday. Yikes!

Good Luck Erised & BizyBee

i've been opk-ing unsuccessfully at the moment, but i'm only CD12 so I guess i'm a little excited of the prospect of a 'normal' cycle! :happydance:

Good luck to you too Littlestar! Hopefully your opk will be positive soon...

Good luck Littlestar! Am rooting for you this month!

My urge to find out for sure if I'm ov'ing has taken over and think I am going to add opks as well as temping this month. where do you get yours from Littlestar? i heard ebay was probably best as they are quite cheap but are they any good? I used some from Boots briefly back in October but never got a positive and they are way too expensive! I want to know when/if I'm ov'ing too so can just enjoy bd'ing in its own right for the rest of the cycle rather than obsessing over the fact that we might miss ov.

Has anyone used pre-seed as well? My temp rise seemed to follow a sensible ovulatory pattern this cycle, I had a significant dip 11 days before af and slight rise for the rest of the cycle after that, but I'm concerned because I just didn't feel like I was ov'ing during the day of the dip. (TMI sorry but) I was just so dry all month - I think the spermies would have got up and walked if they had legs! hehe. I've never had any EWCM since coming off the pill either :o( Why is my body in such a mess?

Good luck with the blood tests Bizy Bee. Hope it helps you to get some answers.

So is everyone trying for their first? Who is going back on the pill afterwards? I am steering well clear. Definitely don't want to go through all this again!

I'm trying for my first, and not going back on BCP after. Honestly, if I had realised how badly it would screw with my body I wouldn't have gone onto it in the first place! I told my DH that I won't go back on it until we're done having children. He doesn't even want me to go back on it after that as he believes it must have done some damage for my cycles to still be this off now.

As for EWCM, not everyone gets it. If your temperature displays a typical ovulation pattern, just assume for now that you did ovulate. Then this cycle start using OPK's as well (I get mine from babymad.com or the babymad ebay shop), see if you can confirm ovulation. If you do indeed ovulate but don't get any EWCM, it's definitely worth getting some preseed. It will help the sperm stay alive longer and gives you higher chances of getting pregnant. Once I do start ovulating I might get some preseed too, I've heard nothing but good about it ... but the price *sigh*.

Thanks Erised, you are v helpful.

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. you have probably written this before, but how long have you been off the bcp? How long did you take it for? I did hear rumours that getting cycle back can be worse if you are on it a long time. I was 9 years! - and only actually had periods for 2 and a half years before I went on it so haven't really given my body much of a natural run at all. My OH has been saying for 2 years that I should get off it, not just for TTCing, just because he was worried about my health.

I think many GPs are such pill advocates they don't warn you of any of these side effects! - I know they need to push it to prevent a lot of unwanted pregnancies, but honestly it would have been good if someone had have warned me about the potential for strange irregular and dry cycles after coming off it. We want a baby so badly (who doesn't on here?!) - it is just so frustrating to think that even if everything is optimal in any given cycle, you still aren't guaranteed to get pregnant, so to iron out all of this rubbish first is so frustrating isn't it?!... Sorry you can tell I am not the most patient of people!

Yeah, I think I'm done with BC pills too. I took them for about 7 years, but I wasn't very regular prior to taking them. I've always had an odd cycle (5-6 weeks), but this is crazy.

This will also be my first. One sister-in-law is pregnant (she already has 3 kids) and I just found out my other SIL recently had IUI (trying for her first). In a way, I am hoping my SIL gets pregnant first because she's been trying for so long and she's about 10 years older than me.

I was so naive before starting this journey. I thought that you have unprotected sex and you get pregnant. Those damn videos that they made me watch in health class! Not until I started to research pregnancy, did I realize how difficult (and frustrating) it can be.

I've been off BCP since the end of May, so 8 months now. I was on it since I was, ermm ... 14? So 7 years. I had natural periods from around 9 years on, so for about 5 years. I've heard before that it will take a month for each year your were on BCP before your body will be fully back to normal. Don't ask me where on earth they got that from, but if so I should have been just fine by now. Oh well

And I fully understand what you're both saying. I was not warned in any way about how long it could take to get my body back to normal. My GP surely must have known? I know that my mum had and has no idea. She was back to normal (and pregnant!) within 3 months, same for my auntie. I know that I will warn my daughter when it's my turn. I would want her to be realistic, and know that you don't always get pregnant right away like nearly everything seems to claim. I knew before I started it that it could easily take up to a year to get pregnant, but never in my life did I think it would take this long to even get to the point where I can start trying =/

Hopefully things will look up for all of us ladies soon =)

Got a feint line this morning! on CD13 which is great! so the eggy is going to be making an appearance soon! :happydance:

in regards to preseed and opks i use accessdiagnostics as a one stop shop.

I buy Preseed in a tube rather than applicators (it does come with reusable applicators but we generally use as much as we need on fingers it lasts way longer. a multi use tube will set you back £13.99 but if you find the applicator style ones too much in volume to use you will definately get 10+ applications, though saying that i've counted up that we have had at least 15+ applications in my tube which i brought in october and theres still about 1/2 tube left, in regards to ovulation tests i use their Acon professional ovulation tests which are around £6.50 for 25 tests. so although you do pay little for delivery on access diagnostics i get my monies worth and its also discreet.

in regards to the pill - never again!
I was put on the pill when i was 15 to stop a 6 week bleed which was making me ill (I did try hormone therapy before the pill which worked in the short term but wasn't seen as a long term solution) and i didn't come off it till last March - so 13 years on the pill and i'm only just reaching some normality in my cycles.
Hubby actually prefers condoms so that what we will be using them after we get pregnant and after, we buy them online in bulk too! supermarkets are expensive for them why buy them there when you can get 72 for £12 online!

That looks promising Littlestar. I hope this is your month!
