Long Irregular Cycles 'r' Us

oohhh ... Yay Littlestar! Hopefully you'll get a proper positive soon, and one that actually goes with a temp rise too. Not the ones that fool you around like last cycle. Fingers still crossed!

Whoop whoop! Congrats Littlestar - that is sounding really positive things are starting to happen.

Bizy Bee - I know exactly what you mean! Although I understood the principle when we started trying that there's only about 3-4 days in the month where you could conceive, I still had that feeling in my head like 'Ooh we're having unprotected sex, I could be pregnant.' It is so drilled in to you to practise protected sex that you get into the mentality where you think one occasion could get you pregnant! In reality, for us unlucky souls, the bcp goes on being a contraceptive for a while after you come off it! LOL (I have to or I will cry!)

Coming to that realisation this week that this could take a long time and feeling really depressed. My temps did show a shift last cycle but such a slight one, I am not convinced I am ov'ing. Trying to shake myself out of this low and remind myself of all the good things in our life to keep preoccupied but it is so hard. Trying not to be bitter, but it just seems like everyone we know has conceived so quickly, even if they have been on the bcp.

Take care girls and if you ever need to talk just holler! Sorry if my message is bringing everyone down - that is not what you need! think it is that sunday feeling! xxxxxxxx

Not temping at the mo, so i have to just count my days from my positive, i did get a v dark positive on my most recently completed cycle but my lp was only 8 days. :dohh:
i find i get uptight waiting for my temp rise which i don't think helps my mental state. will keep you posted with progress. :happydance:

No proper positive yet littlestar? And I forgot you're not temping anymore :dohh:

I had my doctors appointment this morning, a day faster than I thought it was going to be. I just love love love this GP, he remembered that we'd been on holiday, and where to =D So the first thing he asked was if we had a good time in Holland, and when we got back. He's brilliant. He told me that my luteinizing came back high (unlike the -all came back fine!- that they told me over the phone), indicating a strong likely hood of PCOS. Normal is below 10 on an average day, and mine was 12.5 - to confirm PCOS they'll check my testosterone levels in blood next Tuesday and do a scan of my ovaries on Monday. He's referring me to a gynaecologist anyway, but will do so after he gets back the results of the bloods and scan so he can include the information in his referral letter.

He told me that 40% of women have PCOS, but that only around 10% has trouble conceiving and there for it often goes unnoticed. He told me he's certain I'll have children with the help of medication =) Forgot which the first one once called, I think it was metformin and clomid. But he's gonna leave that up to the gynaecologist. He did explain exactly what PCOS is, and what other health risks are often attached to it - Diabetes Type 2 and Heart Problems. He's gonna get it checked and keep an eye on it, though I'm not worried about these things as I've been checked for them a million times and it's always come back fine. Got my weight, hight and BMI checked. It was slightly lower than I was expecting at 36.3 (I thought it would be 3, but that's obviously too high. I carry my weight quite well though, in a size 18 =P Either way, he did advice I try to lose some weight as it often helps TTC, which I know is true. I just find it very difficult to lose weight =( Hope that my DH will be more supportive in it this time around and will actually find some time to join me.

So yep, that's it so far. Summed up:

- PCOS likely
- Referred to the gynaecologist in about 2 weeks
- More blood tests (Lipids, Cholesterol, Glucose & Testosterone) on Tuesday
- Ultra Sound Scan of ovaries on Monday

Still got a feint line only, as in barely visible, i had hoped it would have darkened by now but then i wouldn't normally do opks this early normally (guess i was afraid i would miss it) Hubby is away till friday now though, so i'm CD 16 still not real sign of the eggy, just hope it stays that way till the weekend!

F-X!

Erised, hopefully your scan goes well and your DH supports you in your weight loss quest!

Littlestar, don't let that egg escape before he gets home!

I had my CD3 bloodwork the other day and was told that I'm in the "normal" range. Now I'm onto the HSG on Friday and then CD 21 bloodwork in a few weeks.

Hi ladies! Just checking to see how everyone was doing...

Well... after a two month break from everything, I'm back! I was having acupuncture to help with my whacky cycles, but after falling ill with Pancreatitis in November, my Doctor decided to put it on hold. I ended up having to have my gallbladder removed last week, because of the Pancreatitis and so I will now be able to restart acupuncture hopefully this month or the next. Stitches are still sore but that hasn't stopped us TTC this morning lol. We're not going to waste any more time :happydance:

Wow, I hope everything heals quickly! :hugs:
You'll have to lets us know how the acupuncture works to regulate your cycles.

tickledpink, that sounds like a horrible thing to go through. Hope your body will recover quickly so you can TTC without worry =)

I had my ultrasound today. The lady doing it was absolutely lovely =D She also had a trainee in with her, which meant everything got explained really well, woo hoo! She tried it through a full bladder first, and managed to see my womb and left ovary just fine, but couldn't find the one on the right. So ended up with an internal ultra sound, but she was really gently =) Besides, I've had a lot of tests done in the pasts so I'm not shy when it comes to that anymore.

Anyways!
The womb looks perfectly normal, the left ovary is just fine with a volume of 10 (under 13 is normal) but the right ovary is enlarged ( 18 ). She asked if the doctor ever mentioned PCOS, and was not amused when I said that's why I got send here. Apparently they didn't mention it on the papers at all. But yeah, she thinks the right ovary looks like a PCOS one, it's definitely enlarged but it could just have been like that from birth. She's sending it all off to get looked at and will then get it send to my GP.

Tomorrow I've got my blood, this time for lipids, cholesterol, glucose and testosterone. Once the results of both my bloods and the scan are at the GPs he'll write up a letter and refer me to a gynaecologist. So from dinner on I won't be allowed to eat anything until after the bloods. I'll probably call for my bloods results at the end of the week, and that's it then. Just a waiting game for the gynae appointment then. But as it looks now, it is PCOS in my right ovary.

Glad to hear the womb looks good. Hopefully you'll get a fast appointment so they can figure it all out. Good luck fasting until tomorrow...

Wow! you got it all spelled out in fab details Erised!
at least it's all healthy, i do hope the suspected PCOS on one side isn't going to cause issues for you, good luck with the bloods.

Update for me, still no viable line (been feint on pretty much every test i've done) but i have whacky amount of EWCM at the mo, so i guess i'm just warming up! i hope she makes her mind up soon i'm nearly out of OPKs and i don't really want to buy anymore till :witch: shows her face in case i don't need them.

Good luck & :dust: ladies!

Hello ladies!

Not been checking in as much recently (things are totally hectic at work) so have been reading through all your updates just now. Sounds like you are starting to get some answers now Erised - did you get any results back yet from the latest bloods?

Littlestar - I am dying to know if you got your +opk yet?! I started opks the other day - on CD 17 now, they have started to get darker over the last couple of days, but still not as much as the control line so I will just keep going. If I manage another 5 week cycle, I shouldn't be far off now. How do you keep patient?... if you do that is! x

P.S. - Did you see Stargazer got a bfp in the announcements section? i don't know if you guys ever had any contact with her, but she had about a 3 month wait or first af after coming off the pill and has just got bfp! - so there is hope for us all.

Oh, Thanks for sharing Lucy Lu. I didn't see that as I rarely go to the annnouncements section.

I noticed she got a BFP, just didn't realise she had trouble. Always nice to hear positive stories =D

Umm ... I sort of haven't called for the results yet. I meant to on Friday, but forgot ... or rather, couldn't be bothered. MIL got operated on on Wednesday, so we're looking after her right now (just an easy planned op). I got a letter on Thursday though, saying to go see a doctor regarding my Ultrasound results. So will hopefully call for an appointment on Monday. I'm not too fuzzed about the results as I know my GP is gonna refer me to a gynae anyway. Or so he said.

Still, I'll go see the GP next week =)

:hissy: Still no positive and CD28! used my last OPK too!!!! :hissy:

donno what's happening this cycle - just send the :witch: over and be done with it!

Hello again,

Hope your MIL is ok Erised. Good luck with the docs.

Think I got a +opk last night. These p*ss sticks are infuriating tho! tested at 3pm yesterday and it was definitely a fainter line, then tested again at 9.30pm and I'm 99% sure the test line was as dark as the control...But it looks like it has faded a bit since then (I know they say not to read them after 15mins anyway, but it is still now making me question if it was ever a positive!). And it was back to a definite negative this morning. I'm cramping today really low and deep in my pelvis so fingers crossed. Have barely any CM though - I never do, which makes me wonder if I will ever get a bfp. TMI sorry, i'm damp but it definitely doesn't feel like how other ladies describe ovulation-time CM on here! I think the spermies would be better off getting up and walking up there!

How are you Bizy Bee? Any news? Hope Littlestar is ok, haven't seen her on here for a bit. No doubt she is having as much fun with her pee sticks as I am!!! LOL.

OOh our mails just crossed Littlestar! Don't despair - just because it might be a longer cycle, doesn't mean you won't ov yet. My last cycle was 37 days and I had no reassurance I ovulated at all. However, the one before that was 7 weeks, and I would bet my life I did that cycle - was about the only one where a fortnight before my af I had any kind of CM and 3 day cramps!!! - and I stupidly mistook it for pregnancy!!! d'oh!

Keep bd'ing! - it could be just round the corner. Good luck!

Hey LucyLu,
After many anovulatory cycles, I think I may be close to ovulation also! I have a difficult time reading the OPK's, but I swear it looked like the lines were the same this afternoon. I do have some minor cramps, although barely any ewcm. I am going to try preseed this cycle. I have my cd21 bloodwork on Thursday, so I'll find out if I ovulated. Good luck to you. Wouldn't it be great if we both ovulate this week and we get our :bfp:! We'll be due around the same time... :dust:
