Losing Weight While TTC

Hey hope you ladies don't mind if I join a little late?

Hi tod! :wave:

I'm 30 and ttc our second. Our ds will be 2 in July. We will be celebrating our 11th anniversary next month.

I have pcos and very bad insulin resistance and I have been told I will be full blown type 2 diabetic if I don't make a change soon. So I try to ear a lower carb by sticking under 100 g and ideally 50 g a day. I did really well in March and went from 227 to 217. I am currently floating around 219.

We have been ntnp/ttc since Nov 2014. I don't ovulate often on my own so I take clomid. I did a round in January that resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Due to the emotional stress I decided to wait until May. However, the day I was meant to start clomid my dh got some bad news from work so we aren't using anything but not preventing either.

Right now I'm on lydia pinkham and metformin. I need desperately to get back to a low carb/real food diet to lose weight, possible o on my own and get my blood sugar all in line for a healthy pregnancy.

So I have two weeks left in this school year before summer break. I am hoping to make it through them eating right and really focusing on it during the summer. And if dh gets his hours back at work come July I'd like to start clomid again. At the very latest I'd like to start in September.

I have a garmin vivosmart. I currently have my goal set to 7500 steps a day. I hit that about 5 days a week. My summer goal is to get 10k a day.

Oh, also I'm from Idaho. :D

Hey Krissie!! I would comment on your "novel" (it wasn't really that long haha) but I think I knew most of that already :haha:

Have you guys ever had the doc tell you that you need to lose weight? That seems silly when I type it haha but basically I am worried that when I go in next week that they might not run all the diagnostic tests right away and just tell me that I need to lose weight... :shrug:
 
I have seen one fertility specialist who was great and did my dx of pcos. He offered me clomid back in 2008. But I declined due to relationship issues.

In 2012 I saw a nasty doctor who told me to lose weight, take blood pressure meds and get dh checked before coming back. I have no history of high blood pressure but she took it while I was crying because she refused to help me. We did get dh checked and his motility was on the lower end and she said we had no chance without iui.

So another year later I saw a new doctor and got clomid. She was fabulous and I miss her. My new doctor is pretty good too though. He prescribed clomid based on my history and ff charts.

Edit to add: we got pregnant first cycle of clomid with ds dtd all natural.
 
Hi Krissie! Welcome! :) The more the merrier! More support and motivation! :) I am doing the low carb/real food and it is working great for me so far! Just started this week and already have so much more energy! You can do it!

Has the Dr ever told me to lose weight? Haha of course!!! They are also quite surprised when I am healthy as a horse too lol. Apparently fat people can't be healthy lol..

I am excited to weigh in tomorrow! Krissie are you going to upload a before pic? If you just want to use tomorrow as your starting weight that is fine too! :)
 
Lol right! Of course they are going to tell us to lose weight :haha: I think I am just getting nervous. My doctor is super nice though and in unrelated appointments she checks in with me to make sure I'm ovulating and has checked thyroid just to make sure so I think she will be more than willing to get the ball rolling.

Krissie thats a bummer that you got a nasty doc, that must have been so frustrating.

I'm excited for your weigh in too, you have been doing great!

I'm trying to think of healthy lunch ideas for the week but I'm at a loss. It needs to be easy or I just won't do it.
 
My meals for last week were chicken breasts that I cooked in the crock pot with hot sauce, some days I ate it on celery as a snack and one day I used a little more and made a wrap out of it. Another meal I and was brown rice, ground turkey, and peas all mixed together. I also did wraps with ham, turkey, and spinach. What kind of stuff do you like? Those are just what I have on the top of my head since that's what I recently did haha.
 
Typically I like roasted chicken with mustard but I'm in desperate need of going to the grocery store.

I have some avocados in my desk at work but they are probably bad. Maybe I will run by the store in the morning and get lunch and then figure out the rest of the week after work.
 
So my weight was 220 this morning.

Happy Monday y'all! So I weighed in and I am down 7.2 lbs this week!! I went from 345 to 337.8. I am so excited!!! :happydance:

Here are my before pics. Don't let my toes scare you, I desperately need a pedi lol..

I am so motivated y'all! I have so much energy now it is ridiculous. I used to feel so sluggish and worn down. I love it!

I look like I am preggo in my side pic but I don't care because it is only going down from here. :)

What are y'all doing for breakfast? I am fixin to make some eggs, ground turkey, and avocado. :happydance:

I usually just make enough supper to have leftovers for lunch. That usually works for me. I do that for all of us. Lunch is the one area where I slip so when I have something prepared it is a lot easier for me to stay on track.

I know back in March I was feeling so much better. I was sleeping better and less and had so much energy. Lately I have been so sluggish and miserable. I am looking forward to feeling better again.

I packed myself some raspberries and my avocados are still good at work so I will have one of those for lunch. I also have some sf jello in the fridge.

I plan to stop by the store tonight and pick up a chicken and maybe some veggies. I am thinking I am going to have a chicken salad for dinner.

I gained 1.4 this morning so I am at 216.3, I would like to say I am surprised but I'm not. I am feeling very motivated this week though and think we will all have wonderful weeks!! I have no clue what I am doing for breakfast haha, I am going to have some coffee and by the time I am done drinking coffee it will probably be lunch time. I got to sleep in today because I have comp time to use up since I am on call this weekend so not my typical morning haha.

That's what I am noticing now, I am able to sleep much better.

Make sure you are eating enough. Don't want to starve yourself. Might need more than an avocado for lunch. Mmm love me some avocado!! lol..

Chicken salad sounds good. I am still debating on what to do for dinner. I usually keep it light and easy on Mondays.

I think we will do great this week! I am going to make sure I keep my butt of the scale till Monday. I seriously get obsessed with the scale. Especially when I am losing like I am now.

Coffee sounds good but I don't think I have any creamer or anything. Generally don't drink it in warm weather. I usually go for iced coffee but staying away because of all the sugar. Any ideas how I can make it taste good without all the sugar? lol.. Eating the way I am now I see that sugar is definitely bad for me. I am kind of nervous to drink it like I did. Usually load it up with all kinds of good stuff!

Do you use My Fitness Pal? I usually try to get in at least 1200 calories. More if I workout or am more active that day. I think not eating enough can be just as bad as eating too much.

I am so glad I went grocery shopping yesterday. We are supposed to have storms most of the week!
 
I use to use it quite a bit. I always aimed for 1500-1700 on a low carb diet so I was getting a variety of different things. I probably won't use it much the next two weeks but once I am off for summer break I think I will definitely start back up again.

I usually don't like sugar free creamers but that one is really good! I am going to try to stay off the scale as well, I am guilty of being a daily weigher and I need to stop!

Krissie chicken salad does sound good! Yum. I second MFP to make sure you are getting enough calories.

I got an acorn squash in my bountiful basket this week and have never had acorn squash so I found a recipe that looks good just cut it into rings and cook it with sea salt and apparently it will taste like a combo of sweet potato fries and onion rings lol so I am going to have that and probably a chicken breast or a pork chop for supper.
