Hi everyone, just wondering how everyone is getting on with the GI Diet or just diet in general. I have done ok this week, not been sticking to the low GI strictly as I am still using up the food etc we had in the house but still been quite healthy, and cut right back on chocolate, had no junk food, no alcohol and been to the gym 3 times this week so far! Not bad considering AF arrived today :(
Forgot to weigh/measure myself at the start of the week so will make sure I do it on Monday so I can chart it and hopefully see some progress! Might even post it on the thread each Monday as incentive! EEK!
Have also decided to tackle my PCOS with some alternative treatments and am going to see a Health Kinesiology practitioner as soon as I can get an afternoon off work! See if she can help get my body/hormones back in balance! Will let you know how I get on!

I hope you are still progressing with your diet and exercise. I had miscalculated so I wont start the diet until monday. That is two days before my next cycle starts. I am sure the diet will help me and that it will help fast, I just hope I can stick to it and that it will help me achieve pregnancy. I have been shopping for it the last days; avocados, carrots, greek yoghurt etc. I will definately also write inhere how it goes because it is good to be accountable.
Best wishes
Amber

Well I got weighed yesterday and am 9st 1! Officially I think the heaviest I have ever been, so I will check in next week and see if I have lost anything! Am still being good and sticking to the diet and going to the gym! Got my appt tomorrow with my consultant to see what my next step is! Eeek!

Well I had my fs appt today! They are letting me have another few rounds of clomid whilst I think about ivf! I'm glad as it gives me a chance to test my theory about my weight and the gi diet!
The thought of ivf is scary but I'm very lucky in where I live there is no waiting list and I get 3 chances, I just hope it doesn't come to that!! x

Hi girls, I'm new to the whole low gi diet.. I was just diagnosed with pcos and want to combine metformin with a healthy diet to finally become a mommy... I'm unsure of low gi foods so can you all help me.. Maybe we can all post sample breakfast lunch dinner and snacks.. I've heard cottage cheese wwith fruit is a great low gi snack!!

Dear Mommy2be
I already posted a low GI breakfast but here is one more:
125g of Greek yoghurt 2%
165 g of pear (cut out in little pieces)
18 g almonds and 15 g chocolat 70% on top

This was my breakfast this morning and it was not bad. The ingredients and grams are from a book about a fertility boosting low GI diet which has been well tested and shown great results.

I will post more ideas from the book later
Good luck
Amber

SNACK IDEAS:
One handful of Peanut M&M
One handful of apricots (The ecological brown ones are allowed)
Some almonds with an apple
Carrots Enjoy!:)

Thanks for the ideas girls!! I'm going to order a pcos diet book tonight when I get home from work!

Hi there,
I am now on my 6th day of the diet:) I have been doing it 100% and it has not been too difficult so far. I am more nervous about my ability to keep the diet next week because I am going back to work after my vacation.
But I plan to stay strong. I just found a lot of succes stories on the internet. Most people seem to get pregnant within 3 months on the diet.
Best wishes
Amber

Thank you hibberly

Kez, how are you doing? I am still going strong and really doing super.... I only hate preparing food, makes me cranky when I have to spend half a hour almost making a lunch pack for my long work days.

Hi Amber, I'm doing ok! I had a bad weekend as we had 3 social events, typical, I don't normally go out!! I had quite a bit to drink over the 3 days, but have stuck to healthy food where possible! I got weighed yesterday and I lost 1 or lb last week, the scale was hovering under 9st rather than over! Got to do my full shop now so I have my low gi shopping list handy!
Am waiting to ovulate but am on day 13 and not had a peak on my fertility monitor yet, grrr!

My ovulation is moving closer too. Though I am just on day 8 I already have peak type mucus.
Please be careful with the alcohol, I read it is BAD especially around ovulation.
Gosh, I hope we will have succes very very soon!
Best wishes Amber
