Im moving over from breast to bottle soon and trying to get my head around it all.

From reading the previous posts im thinking about making up 4 bottles a day in the morning of 3 oz cooled boiled water in the fridge then when time to feed add 4 oz boiled water from kettle and add formula, shake and serve. Is this ok?

Then when we're out same thing, 3 oz cooled boiled water, thermos flask with boiling water, add 4 oz of this and the formula, check temp then ready to go. Would the boiled water in the flask stay hot enough all day while out and still kill the bugs in the formula?

Sorry if i sound thick, just trying to get it all straight before i do somethign wrong and make LO sick. I'd never forgive myself!

In order to follow uk guidelines you would have to had the formula to the very hot water first, mix, then add the cold water to make it an instantly drinkable temp.
However lots of parents also make up full feeds (follow directions on pack) rapid cool them and store them in the fridge for upto 24 hours. Or just fill bottles with boiled water, leave them on the side so they become room temp, then when baby needs a feed add the powder and feed staright away at room temp. Although neither of these methods are as ideal as making fresh each time, they only carry very minmal risks. xxx

The rapid cool opition kills the Bactria in the formula, adding to cool water doesn't.

Asda / tesco do a flask which also has a container to warm bottle save asking in cafe etc, it's in with the feeding/ bottle section x

The hot water kills the bacteria in the formula. However as nothing is ever completly sterile in the real world it's not 100%. If you feed straight away there's no problem with adding cold water. If you want to store in the fridge for later the rapid cool method is best as it helps prevent a breeding ground for bacteria.

If making 4 0z id do this : add 2 ounces of boiled water the powder then shake wait a sec then add the 2 0z of cold water. alot of people do put it in the fridge i did but it is actualy easier making it fresh ebcause then you dont have to wait for it to be warm.

my daughter had bad diarihea when it was in the fridge and we only left it in the fridge for 12 hours. were as most people do 24.

also we have a formulapowder dispenser and we fill the right amount of formula in it and then make bottles as we go and we take it out with us too https://www.amazon.co.uk/bibi-Formu...RSS2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1352191988&sr=8-2
