Mamarazzis! Camera/DSLR Group

Yayy alaskagrown! :) I can't wait to see more adorable pictures! Your LO has such a personality already.

I'll do a quick bio about myself - I'm 25, and I married my husband last November so almost a year! Yep got married while I was pregnant. :haha: I live in the US, just outside of Philadelphia and fairly close to NYC/Baltimore areas as well.

I primarily did retail management because it was all I could find for awhile, but my major in college was psychology. Now just going to get into social work once LO is around 3 or 4. My DH is 26 and works in aerospace engineering, so he's a smarty pants. Hopefully my little guy takes after him! Still on the fence about #2, but planning on waiting 4-5 years between them so I have awhile to decide.

As a lot of people know my little guy is half Chinese and half white (I'm a mutt, mostly European mutt with some Native American). My parents are a pain in my tookus. I enjoy long walks on the beach and... :haha: Yeah that about sums it up. ;)

---

On a side note, I had an awful day today. Locked my keys in my car. William pooped his pants while waiting for the guy to come get the keys out. Had to buy diapers/wipes (locked diaper bag in car as well) from Walgreens, then use their employee bathroom. Had to use my shirt as a changing pad, thank goodness I was wearing a cami otherwise I would've walked out with a poop covered shirt.

There's a hurricane coming directly at us. Apparently according to new projections the eye is going to pass right through Delaware, so we're prepping for that. Probably won't have power for a little bit, but I do have a smart phone so I'll be on to harrass FB and BnB.

Wow, what a crappy day (no pun intended :haha:). I hope the rest of it goes better! And good luck with the hurricane. Makes me glad to be on the west coast right now

Ugh, I've been trying to write this all day but something always comes up! So here I go again!
My name is jessica, I'm twenty years old (guess I'm the baby here) . I married my husband two and a half years ago and we have been together since I was 13. He's in the army and deployed three months before Lilly was born and got home just before she turned three months. He's a natural with her, and she loves him more than me!
I just recently got into photography. I don't have very many pictures of me as a baby and no videos so it was really important to me to capture every moment of Lilly's life on camera.
My husband and my daughter are my entire world. Period.

I'm originally from Texas, but live in North Carolina right now because my husband is stationed here.
I've never travelled out of country but hubby and I are saving for a European vacation when he gets out of the military in two years.

Hmmmm. That's about it I think!

Okay Nanerz, I caved in an bought a 50mm f/1.8 lens! I ended up buying it from Amazon because the other sources say free shipping, but it's all lies. They don't ship to AK for free...I'm used to it :-/ Amazon will though!!

And about me:

My name is Jessica, I just turned 23, am engaged, and will be getting married in June. I was born and raised on Kodiak Island in Alaska, but spent a year in Hawaii for school. I went to school for elementary education and was just beginning to complete the final stages of the program with my student teaching internship when my lame arse university decided to completely alter the course requirements for the program (throwing me all the way back to being a freshman) and I was NOT allowed to be grandfathered into the program. I was working two jobs to pay for school and said screw it and never finished my degree.

I currently work as a CPA assistant. I do electronic filing of tax papers and manage bills, deposits, do Quickbooks, etc. for people who own fishing boats. My job is great because it's super part-time, I get to choose my own hours, can bring baby if I please, can work from home, and overall it's just nice extra cash...for things like buying cameras hahah!! I plan to get a full-time career once my baby is older.

My fiance was working as a pilot to fly people and groceries to remote villages around the island, but he recently changed his career to being a maintenance mechanic for the school because we needed somebody who had a job with insurance!

Lillian is 5.5 months old and quite the firecracker.... She keeps me on my toes!!

I love hearing about people. :D

Here's a few recent shots..

Hey ladies can I join please? :flower:

I'm buying a DSLR next month, Nikon D3100 which is sort of an entry level SLR, and ill also be buying a 50mm f/1.8 too after reading this thread :haha: I've always had an interest in photography but never really got into it, so I've decided I'm going to pursue this as the photos I'm getting from my iPhone are rubbish! I just regret not buying a proper camera before LO was born as I feel I could have captured so many special moments from the first few months of his life.

Anyway, I'm Leanne and I live in South Wales. I'm 26 and I've been married to my husband Steven for a year and a half, and we've been together for nearly 10. He definately deserves a medal :haha: I have a degree in Illustration but I'm currently working as a mental health support worker, as its extremely difficult to find any work as an illustrator or at least have a steady income from it.

My beautiful boy Finley was born on the 7th July and he's absolutely amazing :cloud9: I could talk about him all day (which I usually do!) but I won't ramble on. I've attached his photo at the bottom.

Can't wait to get my camera so I can get involved with all this photosharing :happydance:

What a cutie pie! I wish I had bought a DSLR before he was born as well, but I honestly didn't think about it. He was so tiny and slept great, I would have had so many opportunities to take adorable newborn pictures. :( I do have 20gb worth of pictures from my phone(s) though!

I was debating a Nikon for awhile myself, they look like great cameras. :) I'm excited to see more pictures of your little guy. :happydance:

I probably won't be able to post pictures for the next few days as we're prepping for the hurricane and I have lots of studying to do in the next 2 days (honestly should be studying now  ). As long as it's safe, I may take pictures while it's storming and afterwards. What lens do you ladies think would be more appropriate for that kind of shooting? Definitely not the 50mm f/1.8 but I also have the 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II and then the kit lens. I'm guessing the first would probably be superior for that. I'll have fun playing around.

ETA: bananaz I quoted you in the first post, so that the information is easy to find. :) I have that quote saved on my computer too because I refer to it so often.

I decided to do a little black and white post-processing just for a change of pace. Not the most creative shots, but I think they're cute (then again, I think all photos of my kid are cute :haha:)

Yeah I saw them and was wondering if you've already gotten it! I love those pictures. She just looks so happy. :haha:
Do you love it? Lol.

I don't know if you knew, but the 50mm doesn't have zoom, and it sees things like we see them through our eyes so you have to step back further from the subject then you normally would. :D

Hahaha, I know..she's just thrilled. Lilly acts as though she has a tack stuck down her diaper.....all. the. time.

And I didn't know that about the 50mm lens, but that makes sense because it doesn't have a range, it's just 50mm. Thanks for the heads up!

please tell me you guys take photos of your LO's everyday or almost everyday like i do lol

i hope i'm not the only photo obsessed mama out there

Gorgeous pics! I bet those shots of Mops in the wicker chair would be gorgeous in black and white too. If you want I could do a conversion for you. I'm a Photoshop addict :haha:

Go for it lover. I just got photoshop on my laptop and then gt the IPad and now I hardly get on the lappy. Poor poor lappy.

Anyone know the best way to boost light without getting the horrid, artificial flash look?? Xx

My Pooh Bear! It was 20 degrees F outside (-7C), that's why her little nose is so red!

Here's a quick one I did. Hope you like it! :flower:

As for brightening photos in low-light situations, the easiest thing to do is increase the ISO and/or widen the aperture. Also make sure the shutter speed isn't too fast.

Here's a couple photos of Elsie in her Halloween costume. It was raining and she was kind of grumpy so I couldn't get the outdoor shots I wanted, but oh well...
