Wow, that BW pic is brill. Thanks so much love.

Oh Alaska, what a wee darling you have.

And oh my GOD, I want to actually eat Elsie. She is so bloody scrummy. May I?? Xx

Can I join please? I have only received my camera yesterday, but we have been to the park today to have a little play (and to try the camera :winkwink:). All photos are unedited straight out of the camera.

Beautiful shots, and what a cute kiddo! I really love the second one in particular.

I so wish we would have dressed Lilly up. :( But we weren't taking her out and didn't see the point in getting a costume just for pictures!
All of your babies are so sweet! And
Piper, great shots! Can I ask what kind of camera you have?

I probably should have said what camera I have in my original post. It is a Canon 550D and these pics were taken with a 50mm 1.8 lens.

Hey ladies, so I bought my camera today :happydance: Still haven't taken it out of the box yet though as I've been so busy! Anyway I wanted to ask your advice, I told the guy in the shop that I wanted a 50mm 1.8 lens for portraits (obviously after reading this thread as I have no clue at the moment lol). He told me to get the 35mm 1.8 instead though, he said this would be better for me. I took his advice and bought it, it was cheaper than the 50mm so it's not as if he was trying to get more money from me, but now I'm just not sure if I've done the right thing? Shall i keep it or try and change it for a 50mm? What's the difference here? As I've said this is all new to me so any advice is appreciated!

Bananaz, has anyone ever told you that your baby looks like the Gerber baby????

Piperette, beautiful pictures! :flower:

I haven't been around too much. Hurricane, teething, sleep regression, (possible) growth spurt all at once doesn't make for a happy baby!

He woke up from a nap earlier though and was in such a good mood so I grabbed my camera. He still has that just woke up look so his hair is all kinds of messy, but i think it's adorable.

Good morning, sunshine. Love that gummy smile!

Little different, didn't turn out great though. I love his baby feet, I generally hate feet, but his feet are soooo adorable.

Leids, what cute photos, I love his gummy smile! The last one is so sweet. I'm guessing you had a pretty high aperture? Try a smaller aperture, so that both feet are in focus instead of just one. :D

Leids, great pics. Scrummy babe. Love that face.

HEYYYYY PIIIIIP!!! How are you doing lover? Those pics are amazing. We're shooting with the same camera... More excited to get my 50mm 1.8 lens than ever now xx

Are you shooting with a Nikon? As far as I know Canon doesn't make a 35mm f/1.8, but I'm not too familiar with the lens offerings of other brands. In any case, the difference would just be the focal length - the maximum aperture is the same. I like the 50mm focal length for portraits but plenty of people use 35mm so it's really just a matter of personal preference :flower:

Thanks for replying hun :flower: Yes it's a Nikon D3100, I think maybe i'll just have to give it a go and see how I get off. I'm really looking forward to learning about my camera and hopefully taking great pictures!

alaskagrown, I'm seriously dying every time I see that picture in your avatar. I just woke LO up because I let out a snort laugh.

She has a precious smile!

Jessica: I should have messed around with the aperture. Thanks for the tip!

how do you ladies get solid coloured backgrounds in your photos?

For the photos I just took, the sheets were the same color as the wall so it worked well. Usually I just have him next to a wall with similar colored sheets anyway though. I'll probably do a white muslin taped to the wall for his Christmas photos, along with him in front of the tree. :)
