March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Loo - hopefully it was simply tummy ache from needing a poo. TMI but I know if I need a goode old poo my tummy hurts.

I have a baby swing for grumpy evening time. It's a God send when you need to make dinner or something and you can't be rocking a grumpy baby. Saying that Jess is less grumpy at the moment, I suspect it was her eye infection that was irritating her.

Glow - It's all change, isn't it? I can remember when my 14 year old was a baby and the advice then was to make up all bottles in advance and store them in the fridge and then microwave them. If you did that now social services would be round!

Lads! This is my first chance on in how many days? Up for a feed so thought I'd pop on while DH isn't ordering me to sleep, lol.

:hugs: to all.

Baby G is good. Need the laptop to type out my birth story. It was so unexpected, my doc prepared us for doomsday and everything went so quickly. Don't admire my 9 cm updates, with my epidural I was in heaven.

G is quite the chomper, but I think we've got the latch down... Or close. Little drama last night but today I came to peace with potentially not sleeping a lot at night and I feel better about it now. They tell you to keep your baby up all day, but who can do that? Especially at 1 day old?

The dog is in a tizzy; wants to be all over her and upset that he's not allowed. He's getting lots of attention but it's making him sad that he can't jump in the sleeper with the baby. Poor buddy. I feel very guilty about that. I've heard people say the dog just isn't a priority when you have a baby but I don't feel that way at all! He was my first baby and I really care about his feelings.

City, I'm sure its the same for your doggie as it is for any older child, so to speak. With Roh I just make a fuss of him whenever I get the chance, but make sure he knows that when ik'm feedng F etc he can't interfere. He'll get used to the change and disruption but iit takes a period of adjustment first :hugs:

Hope peeps got an ok night. :hugs: Not bad here, F was good, fed at 1 and 4am and back to sleep right away! :) was up from 4-5am with Roh though :dohh: I hate teethng!

Thats so typical emera, when baby sleeps in morning toddler wants to get up at the crack of dawn!

Mouse - congrats again, looking forward to reading your story! Surely no baby can stay up all day - they say newborns sleep 16-18 hours a day so some of that's got to be in the day!

Last night wasn't so bad for us. We slept 10 to 11, 1-3 then 3.30 to 6.30 with feeding/tonnes of winding in between.

Z gets to meet his auntie today, looking forward to that!

My mum is amazing. She took D from 7.30 and I managed to sleep until 9!! I feel so refreshed!!!!

Al is off work today so super busy. We need to order carpets, take all the doors off in order to be dip stripped and do an ASda shop. Of course that's all if she will let us.....

Mum is obsessed with finding gripe water as she thinks it is a miracle cure (or was 32 years ago when my brother had colic :haha:) any thoughts? I think we are getting on ok with the infacol? Also has anyone tried any of the cheaper brands of colic relief? Just curious as to what they are like?

Well OH left for work about an hour ago, and I already feel a bit like I'm juggling chainsaws!! cbeebies is on now, I held out for 40 mins, sweet sweet tv babysitter!! I'm sure I'll get better at this 2 children thing!

Loo - My mil suggested gripe water too so I asked the pediatrician and said not to bother. Maybe ask whoevers care you are under now for what they would suggest. We were told to try baby progaia and that is working. (Expensive though)

So we did 11:30 to bed, up at 2:30 and down at 2:45 up at 5:00... And she seems about ready for her cradle again at 5:30. Dare I change her diaper?

Hi lads. Good to see you mama mouse! Not a bad night here. Slept from 9.30 till 12 then 1 until half 3, back to sleep at 5 and up at 7. He's now asleep on my chest... going to put him in the shower with oh in a sec which he might freak out about... x

I don't think gripe water is recommended these days is it??

No, forget this, just looked it up and it seems that a major manufacturer was putting its ingrediants in in the wrong order causing a problem with a batch, but its all fixed now!!

widger - george was feeding every hour last week, but now seems to have found a routine of midnight, 3am, 7am, 11am (which is lovely).... then it gets more frequent and eratic from noon - 10pm... but thats ok... as im awake :haha: i think our babies find their own routine eventually. and u will cope just fine :hugs:

skadi - that video was great. last night george was going 'eh eh eh' and i would usually feed... but instead we burped and he settled down again lovely :hugs: hope it continues to work :winkwink:

Vitfa - i didnt take my iron last night or this morning.... i NEED to go to the loo  DH will kill me if finds out

rashy - lovely to hear from you and glad your at peace with no sleep! :haha:

no HV or MW visits today which is lush. ONE visitor coming tonight. Im hoping tomo will be TOTALLY visitor free  Its tiring.

FT - I can recommend lactulose to get things moving... Without the dramatic pains of prune juice either! I had 9 teaspoons of it one afternoon and despite its saying 2-3 days to work, shifted stuff 4 hours later! By the time youve not been for a while I found the fear of going was worse!

Wish Zack would find some sort of routine. DH is back to work on Tuesday so god knows when I'll get any sleep. He's asleep now but only because we've been to Sainsburys and left him in his car seat!

Glad it helped FT! I found I was doing the same thing! Trying to feed her when she just had a burp she needed help with! It's really helped my sanity to know what she is crying about.

Up again just now at 8:15! Not a bad night for us at all!

Hello again, just up with my little piggy. Got two hours of sleep with her in the bed... Time to give up and admit that's how she sleeps for now.

She pretty much fed continuously from 12-3 and wouldn't be put down... What's funny is that the go was so concerned at first and sat next to us, getting mad when she squealed (mad at me), but once he was back in bed he hasn't bothered to want to come listen to her cry or watch her eat.

I just need o be more bullish about sleeping during the day. My sister called when I was headed in for a nap and we talked for 40 minutes... No more of that!

Thanks for the welcomes back!

Ahhh, i got called a dangerous hippy for co-sleeping the first time round!! :haha: Read up on it to make sure you are doing it safely lads!! Roh co-slept with me from 2-6 months old (couldn't do it earlier as he was too small) and then went into a cot in our room for a few months and then into his own room. He's a great sleeper and never had a problem with the transition out of our bed. So i say, if you are happy with it and get mre sleep, co-sleep away lads :) I planned to do it from the start this time. If F settles in her basket, then great, but if not, she's in my bed all night

Infacol never worked on Roh, nor did anything else except Gripe water, its good stuff! :)

Phew, F has been awake since 9.30am, she's only just conked out now! Roh on the otherhand has been asleep since 1pm and i'm going to have to go and wake him up soon or he'll not go to bed! :dohh:

Emera! Your stories of two kiddies make me laugh  it seems such a juggling act!!!

Co-sleeping: I used to really dislike the idea but now we've got Noah it works really well for us - he sleeps in his basket during the day and i'll try him in there at night and if he's grouchy its into bed with us and an uninterrupted 3-4hrs kip for us all!

I was also pretty adamant I didn't want to use a dummy...and now think they're ace at settling him off to sleep. I only use them when I know he's got a full belly (both boobs) and it sends him straight off to sleep then it falls out. Ideal. Funny how your ideas change isn't it when LO's arrive! :haha:

Lozza - you will manage when Dh goes back to work I promise... its scary but also quite exciting to have them all to yourself all day!!!

FT - sorry hun, I finished my iron tabs over a week ago and still pretty constipated...humph. might try the ol' lactulose thing. we won't tell your DH promise xxx

Mummymouse - :hi:

Skadi - found that vid very interesting but know what you mean about stressing about trying to interpret every little whimper! x

Missy - how's the BFing/bio nuts going? Did T enjoy the shower?! xxx

Well i've had a bit of a mad day, up at 6am for feed and got my first big goofy smile from N so that was it, I was awake!!! N had 40mins on his play mat (he loves it and is changing so much every day :cloud9:!: then breakfast/bath/feed and off we went to visit people at work (N got a LOT of cuddles and more presents - I now have 14 baby blankets...), then dog walk in the park then off to the shops for food and to return some baby clothes - all by myself  had N in the sling but the combo of him at over 10lb and bags of shopping has rendered me to the sofa for the afternoon with a film on!!

Hope you lads are all ok...happy easter everyone!!!!

Waula, your carrying skills will improve with time! Just went to the shop for sugar, F in the carrier, Roh walking, then he refused to walk back, so had to carry him and F and shopping home!

Eesh! You lads must have some strong muscles! I ache holding D during her feed and have taken to resting her on a pillow! I seem to be walking around with a permanent bad back too!

Well, she's being good again today! One good day, 2 bad days, then a good day again  we managed to get our carpets ordered, but ASda can wait until tomorrow!

Decided to have a Dominos treat for tea. Yummy
