March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Mmm relocated her and had another couple of hours sleep. Just woken and huby makibg tea and crumpets yum
Laura...yeah on sleep. Have been expressing a bit but not using for night feeds...woried about wind. Did A get much more than usual? And how much ebm in bottle did she need? Unsure i am collecting enough. Have a bottle of 130mls ready to go....

She took 200mls over night and DH brought her in at 7 when she fed for about 25 minutes so hungry! DH says she settled really well but no obvious increase in burps!

Thanks....is that 100ml x 2 sittings? I am out next friday with girls so was planning to leave a bottle with hubby but if i do more it means i can have 2-3 glasses of vino and she wil be ok til the morning :)

Last time hubby gave her about 100ml she was back on boob within the hour:wacko:

How long are you all winding babies for during and after feed? Really think M has colic...infacol is a bit rubbish and i think i am just rubbish at geting wibd out mayve i just dont do it for long enough. M sleeping ok but crying when awake......tight hard belly is a key sign....

What other treatments have i missed????

HELP!!!!

Yes, exactly. She took it in 2 sittings but only about 45 minutes apart and at 4am. So, i'd fed her at 12 and then at 7 so really I wasn't away that long!

i was about to say morning all but actually it is afternoon. im losing track of the time...

DTD - i think im ready but my body is not. i still have stitches... will def be careful about contraception. FT - a christmas conception? you're keen. I think i want about 2 years between mine so won't be that far behind you

i try to wind R after every feed but he doesnt really burp much. sometimes he does randomly. i have been using the 'stretching' him out method. he definately does get wind sometimes though and hubby seems to be much more effective at getting it up than me (maybe he is more rough?)

wouldluvabub - we pretty much always have a little bit of poop at every nappy change too. he is a frequent pooper! lol

we have now run out of size 1 huggies nappies and have moved onto size 1 pampers. i do not like them at all. they smell so chemically and we have had 2 leaks so far. not long until he will be on size 2 huggies and then the cloth ones!

laura - full nights sleep sounds amazing. im happy enough as long as he feeds 3/4 hourly. its when he feeds hourly/ 2 hourly that i get knackered out. i do go to bed really early though at about 8pm and leave him with hubby in the lounge until the 11pm feed. that way i get a few extra hours sleep.

loo - sounds like a good night too

mitch - i only wind R for about 2 mins but he doesnt seem to have a prob with wind yet. when he does its probably a few more mins. i dont know how long one is supposed to wind for though....

Hey ladies

Lots to update but will keep it short
E back up to birth weight plus 0.5lbs so proud - makes me know im doing good on the boob even though i dont feel it

MW thinks she is comforting on the breast and this is my she is on off latching and only feeding 5/ 10 mins so daddy took her for a walk and i got an hour sleep and she feed for 38 mins there so feels nice - she is now in her bouncer and kinda settled a little gusty.

Breast advisor coming back out wednesday

My question

hello laddies! how is everyone and LO's today???

i wouldnt worry about a bottle causing more gas/wind in a baby. my FF babies i never burped and they never had gas. mason has it all the time though so i dont think BF makes less for mine

as for dtd- this is the longest we have went after a baby. its usually around 4 weeks for us (DH is going crazy right now). im waiting til my 6 week check up, which should be in a couple weeks. we wont be using any birth control, just trusting the Lord to give us another when/if He sees fit. i do think BF can postpone that sometimes though, which is fine too. very happy either way :flower:

Happy Easter Lads! :hugs::hugs:

Like FT I'm struggling to keep up or remember what any of you have said and I feel awful not replying to anything personally. Sure I'll have more time when it's just me and Jacob and we can get in a better routine.

Hormones - gosh they are killing me at the moment. Was nowhere near as bad as this with the girls but have been terribly weepy the last couple of days  Funny thing is it's not Jacob but everything/everyone else that sets it off!

OH has been brilliant but I have been feeling awfully resentful that he seems to just be able to get up and go and do what he likes. Tell me if I am being hyper sensitive here please?? (probably!)

Saturday I took my eldest daughter and Jacob shopping and he went to the Gym, I was OK with that. It's his birthday today so yesterday his Mum out on a bit of a buffet and it was a chance for the people who hadn't met Jacob to have a cuddle. Because it was his birthday I said would drive so he could have a drink. Basically it was men stood in a corning drinking while I had to field all the people trying to cuddle Jacob. OH only helped once when we first got their with a nappy change and I was left with half a cup of decaf coffee and a thimble full of Champagne :nope: this was from 4.30pm - 10.30pm.

Today is his actual birthday and we planned to stay in and have quiet day. OH and I haven't actually had a full 24 hours on our with Jacob since he was born :nope: We were sat upstairs not dressed when his friend phoned and asked if he wanted to go for a drink. He got up and dressed and was out the door in half an hour

I'm making him sound like a right lush he is not he genuinely never goes out and isn't a big drinker at all it's just that with all my hormones all over the place I seriously feel like I want to scream at him....I mean what about me??? I just gave birth 9 days ago and he goes back to work on Wednesday. I just feel selfish and horrible for feeling so resentful

I've always sworn by MAM dummies...you can get them in Boots or Asda/Tesco etc. Both my BF babies had them and it didn't cause any nipple confusion at all :winkwink: It was just a little comfort to get them off to sleep :flower:

congrats vitfa on baby's weight gain, that's great! sorry no experience of dummies so can't help.

blessed - i think you have a lovely attitude to building your family. we are not quite as relaxed because we need to factor in working/money but if i did fall pregnant again quickly we would be thrilled it would just be a bit sooner than ideal

glow - i dont think you are being hyper-sensitive at all, its tough trying to fend off people on your own, plus 4.30 to 10.30 is a long time (and a late night!). i think you need to tell hubby that you need some time together with jacob on your own without any visitors. perhaps just stay at home? or go out somewhere for tea or something? perhaps remind him that you want quality time before he goes back to work?

not sure what else to say really :hugs:

Vitfa, we use Avent Soothies and they're the only ones she'll take. Plus they come attached to little stuffed animals, if you guys have Wubbanubs in the uk. Then she can hold onto it herself. We have one dog and I'm ordering three more today!

The thing about comfort sucking is, it comforts them!i think it's so much more impportant to have a comfy baby than to stand by a decision made before we knew what babies were like. And my niece and I were both long-time thumb suckers--definitely easier to ditch a pacifier than a thumb!

Ours have saved our sanity, so I say go for it.

I often wonder if the word "dummy" is too negative in connotation. I much prefer to think of them as pacifiers.

More power to those who don't need them, but we definitely do. :haha:

And yes, I have a Brest Friend, it's wonderful.

The autocorrects make me happy!! :)

Hmm, can't answer indvidually, brain can't retain info for long enough except for Glow :hugs: I feel for you! It was my OHs bday last wednesday an he went out too. He never goes out either but. Was sooo jealous and grouchy and felt really guilty for it, but really fed up too. :hugs:

Wind/winding - sometimes I wind F for minutes, sometimes hours, it depends what she needs

Dummies - buy one pack of each type of shap teat and see how it goes. I'm persevering but F is stll not that keen on hers. Shame really as she loves comfort sucking! :dohh:

City - i could hug you so much right now - defo the connotation im scared family will judge me and that i will confuse her but i need sanity and she needs comfort when not hungry and not to be screaming for hours

I cant wait to get mine- do you think it help position and latch on ?

Ladies how long does everyones babies feed for in a sitting until full ?

xx

LOVE the auto corrects! You can tell we are all typing left handed on our mobiles!!!!

Vitfa, we resorted to dummies at day 9 because I found D was using me as a dummy. The ones nipple shaped are 'closer to nature' however, D hated them. We found the best ones are 'MAM' and got them from Tesco. She doesn't always want it, and always spits it out when sleeping but it's there to help us, and I'm glad we relented and tried it because it made our lives that little bit easier. It's also useful to use now she has colic and is screaming to find comfort.

Glow, :hugs: right there with you on the feeling stuck inside. I got upset with Al before because he went to the house to take some doors off hinges!!!! Irrational but I guess I just envy his ability to get up and go. I am still pretty weepy but mostly down to D's screaming and not being able to comfort her.

Anyway, I thought if make you all feel better by proving my incompetence. I've just popped over to my brothers for 30 mins and whilst there D had a poonami that leaked, sobi had to change her, but I forgot her changing bag, so I had to improvise by wadding up a load of loo roll and wedging it between her legs, securing in place with her vest  BAD MUMMY!!!! Think I need to shove an emergency nappy in the car!!!

D feeds for between 20-30 mins. Slightly longer on the first side, wind, let her finish off on the 2nd side then wind again. xx

vitfa, my baby's feeds for a different length each time. I would say that most feeds are about 20 mins long, but sometimes 15 mins and sometimes 45 mins. I think mitch's baby feeds for about 10 mins and is full. i think it depends on how fast your letdown is and how efficient the baby feeds for.

each baby is different so i don't think you can compare unfortunately.

those people with baby boys - do you also have a million pairs of dungarees?

i have just realised that nearly everyone who bought us a gift has bought us dungarees in some form or other. i dare not count them because i have so many, luckily they are spread across different sizes...

I think we need a group hug at this point! :hugs: To all having a rough time!

We've only DTD a few times since her birth, and no protection. It took us a pretty long time to conceive her because of our schedules. I want more kids and preferably with the same man for various reasons but right now I hate him more than I have ever hated anyone so there won't be much DTD until that changes. lol That said, I don't want to really try for another until January when Keira is 1... but like Blessed we are pretty much leaving it in the hands of God.

I forgot just how bad period cramps were? What the hell?!

We had a much better night tonight, back to our normal schedule! I think there was a full moon Saturday night... so that explains her silliness. Apparently everyone at church was disappointed we didn't come as I haven't gone since her birth. There was no way I could go on that little sleep.
