March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Routine????? Change, feed, cry, sleep. Repeat. The order can also vary somewhat...

Waula, I have those bottles but not expressed yet. I'd assume the hole goes at the top to avoid suction in the teat?? Not sure though. Maybe its not relevant at all and just a safety thing for if a baby gets hold of it??

Off to the drs this morning to see if he can offer anything for the constant screaming. It's been (countless!) days now

Loo, taking D to the doctor will surely cure her -- at least for the time that the doctor is checking her over. Babies are naughty like cars and other things that don't act up when taken to the shop.

morning all,

routine? hmm, roughly feeds at about 7am, 12 noon, 3-4pm, 7pm, 11-12 pm, 3-4am and 6-7am. it looks nice and regular but it does change a bit and sometimes there are mini feeds in between. he usually sleeps after a feed or is wide awake and falls asleep. he gets changed randomly throughout the day. he seems to like to poop whilst feeding!

health visitor been this morning, R now weighs 9lb 5oz and is on the 98th centile! big boy!

wow mrs cup - 98th centile!!!! good feeding hun!!!! :hugs:

loo - hope dr's went well xxx

Curses WT!!!!!!!!! You were right, she was good as gold. Didn't even cry when we had to take off her clothes for her tummy to be heard. Her tummy was also nice and soft so the dr sent us away with..........A WEBSITE ADDRESS!!!!!!! :dohh::rofl: he said come back if it gets worse... What? Worse than the 9 hours of inconsolable screaming she did yesterday punctuated by feeds??

Oh well. The fact that she is obviously a bit better today is a good thing.

We have to brave ikea this afternoon which I REALLY don't want to do. It will almost certainly mean a change and a feed (which I still have never done away from home. I'm dreading it. Fx D wants a kip, but I'm guessing she won't!

oh Loo...good that D was well behaved...a flippin website!!? :haha: :dohh:

i'm the same about feeding out - need to practice without pillows!!!! its why i expressed yesterday and it was fab just to be able to get a bottle out in the restaurant... hope ikea not too mental...:hugs:

Hello, lads...

G refused to settle last night, until I finally gave her the boob and we both fell asleep. I think I overfed her in the late afternoon and it upset her tummy. So then we went four hours between falling asleep on the boob and the next feeding... Does that make me a bad mom? Surely the sleepy feeding wasnt a whole one. Oh well too late to change.

Amazing how visitors, even well meaning ones, throw off your routine.

I'm soooo sleepy and having weird dreams!

mouse...now now...a sleepy boob feed does not make you a bad mum. or if it does then we're all really bad mums so welcome to the club!!!! :haha: it just takes some time to learn what they want doesn't it... hope you and baby G are well today

Mouse - if that happened to me i'd consider myself a lucky mum not a bad one!:haha:

Just managed to get Z down in his basket, hopefully that means i get a couple of hours to myself now.

Success!!! Took M up to hubbys work she was held by several people...continued to sleep, opened her eyes briefly to give them a look at her awake then asleep again. Now home again 3 hours post feed....no changing and feeding while out woo hoo
Now feel bad as she is still in car seat as i know she will awaken if i move her...just enjoying some late lunch....

Ok pooing question ladies....hers not mine. She regularly fills 4 nappies a day with poop....last one being yesterday evening which was bigger than poonami...i shall use missys phrase of poomagedon!!!! Bad bad bad....anyways nothing since (well a little but nothibg like usual). She seems to have been straining and crying a bit to shift something but nowt. Should i be worried? They say if baby is goibg through a growth spurt expect less poop as they take everything from feeds and have less to.expell. At which point is baby actually constipated and i should be worried??

good effort with the work trip mitch!! such a relief to get home isn't it when you don't fancy feeding outside!!!

re: poo's - a week ago N stopped doing his 3-4poos a day and we're now doing one every 1-2days (!) and all seems fine... he does get quite strainy but i think its wind tbh not constipation...

just made choc and rasp brownies. :munch: smells amazing xxx

Wouldn't worry about the poos Mitch. I read that docs aren't worried if babies go a week without pooing! Maybe that's just my doc!!!

Ikea was so busy, but D was an angel! She has been all day! I think maybe her screaming twin was abducted by aliens or something because she's been lovely!!! An very aware than screaming twin could return at any moment though!!!

Thanks ladies...seems nothing to worry about...however she does seem to.strain amd get herself really worked up then produce nothing. Tummy massage you.posted waula dislodged a great big poop last night but hasnt done the trick today yet:wacko:. Oh well plenty of time...could be wind i guess. Anyhow she is sleeping loads today so cant be too bothered:shrug:

Loo...yeah for the angel baby swap and for stress free ikea trip :happydance:

Mouse, I tend to have a sleepy feed every other day. As long as baby isn't going to roll out of bed it's fine.

Do your babies enjoy bath time? Mine cried the whole time until I got his clothes back on. I even tried to give him a massage. I don't think he was cold so I don't know how to make him like it.

Little man's squeaks and squawks have earned him the name "baby bird"

I have no idea if we have a routine. I'm thinking about keeping track today to figure that out.

Kym - Z actually seems to love the bath, he snoozes through it! We have the water pretty warm, about the same as if we were bathing so possibly warmer than we're supposed to. I read today though it should be at least body temp, so 38ish deg C, sorry not sure about the Fahrenheit equivalent.

Loo pleased D was good for you in ikea, it's a stressful place at the best of times!

Dh home in ten mins, hooray! Although I've just got Z to sleep. Decided his grizzling couldn't be hunger and had just done nappy change so thought id assume overtired and retreat to the rocking chair. I might have been right, he's fallen asleep on me instantly so now I'm just waiting to brave the transfer to the bed!

Kym - i'd agree with Lozza, N loves a bath - gets very snoozy but we don't have a bath thermometer and I just fill the sink with water maybe a touch cooler than my bath...he's started splashing and kicking, seems to like it!

Lozza - good luck with the transfer to Z's basket - always a panic!!! glad your DH is nearly home... i'm going to miss my DH  easy to keep busy during the day...not so easy at night! :nope: oh well...crap telly for me and lots of cuddles with N then!!!

I feel like i'm getting the hang of this mummy thing a bit more... was out of the house at 10am this morning, done the Dr's, supermarket, dog walk, made choc brownies...oh and looked after a newborn!!! :haha:

Hope you lads are all ok and babies behaving!

xxx

And just this morning there's a news story about a mom who was convicted for having her child die while co-sleeping. :dohh: granted, it was her second baby who did so, and some references ive seen say she had sedatives in her system, but...

How am I going to get any sleep if I can't have the baby with me for at least part of the night? :agonized howl:

So far the only place she will sleep is with me or in the car seat, and she really doesn't settle well in the car seat.

The idea of trying to get her to sleep in an actual bassinet gives me hives.

Mouse - give it time. We're slowly transitioning to the co-sleeper (bassinet attached to the bed) I've found that he sleeps better if swaddled tight, with a hat on and put right against the side. I think he needs the closeness. If G sleeps alright with you and not in her bed, get the sleep. Just don't co-sleep under the influence of alcohol or other sedatives and make sure she can't roll anywhere. When she's ready she'll sleep in her bassinet. Just put her in it each night for as long as she's content.

Failed miserably on the transfer into the moses basket. Should have just stuck with the pram carrycot which he normally sleeps in. Ah well, DH has arrived home so he's rocking him back to sleep and we've started the bath running. Oops, just heard him yelp.

Mouse - i've had him in with me in bed a couple of times - as long as the duvet is far enough away and i sleep on my side with my arm out in front i'm not too worried about rolling onto him. I do this when i'm just too knackered in the night to sit up and transfer him to the cot!
