March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

I wish B would take a dummy. Will take then spits out and starts fussing again. Will try different brand tomo. I really think in middle of night he is comfort sucking a lot.

I could deal with the lack of sleep, it's the not knowing what will work or not that makes me crazy.

When I sleep with G, it's on the couch and she's sort of leaning on me from a pillow with my arm around her. It kills me that it feels so sweet to sleep that way but now I just keep thinking it's dangerous. :(

We have a co-sleeping bassinet in the bed... She actually napped in it for a while earlier. Too much to hope she'll sleep there?

To the ladies who can't get their LOs to sleep in their cradles/bassinets etc... Try getting them SOUND asleep in your arms and then slowly put them down. If you just slowly move your arms away bit by bit they should stay asleep. Doesn't always last long if they have gassiness keeping them up but otherwise works great for us when she won't self settle.

Vitfa the other thing to try is turning up your heating? We had the same problem, he'd only sleep in our arms, we'd put him down (however slowly!) and he'd wake 2 mins later. We could get half an hour if we prewarmed the mattress. Now we've put the heating on all night, the rooms about 22-24 degrees which I know is hitter than SIDS guidelines but he stays asleep! Well, for periods of 1-3 hours then I think he's waking in hunger rather than cold. It only got better bang on 2 weeks old.

Tonight so far I've slept 9-10.30, 11.30-1 and 2.30-4.40. I think that's about 5 hours? He went down at 8 so longest sleep 2.5 hours. Like mouse says just wish it was more predictable!

A quick question, are we meant to rotate holds on bf to empty the various ducts? I've used the same hold the last few days but wondered if that would cause a problem?

City sleeping with baby on the couch wth pillows is pretty dangerous she could slip between cushions and be smothered. On a firm mattress lying next to you with no pillows of bedding nearby is much safer. :hugs:

Widger F isn't too keen on her dummy, driving me mad!! Wsh she'd take to it! Oh and yes Roh seems HUGE now, giant feet!! Always saw him as my lttle baby and suddenly he's a giant!!

Thanks for all the happy birthdays! Roh s still snoozing, but I reckon he's going to have a good day :)

Hope you all have a good day too! Xxx

Happy birthday Roh x x x x

Emera...you are indeed superwoman...please can.you.come round and cook my dinner

This morning i am going to make some cookies...think i.have everything in for them. Nct coffee day so will take them over:happydance:

Well after worrying about lack.of poop production from M she created a collosal one last night followed by one at 3am nappy change and 6:15 when she woke up. Goid grief woman....they totalled her entire body weight!!!! A little more on.the runny side...still mustardy colour with bits in...but very wet...normal??? Glad they are out though...for now:happydance:
She slept 11-3 then til 6:15 so happy again......tried a nappy change at 3am to allow a double feed and try and get her to go longer in morning....no difference!! Think it gets light in our room around 6 and she is by window....thats waking her. Need blackout blinds.

Hope everyone has a great day espec Roh

Mitch, D's poos are usually very runny/watery. I heard it was normal for bf babies, but I've not looked into it. Glad M finally 'went' (lots) :haha:

Lozza, I only ever feed D in rugby ball position. I had no idea that we were meant to be switching holds. It makes sense what you are saying, but no one mentioned it to me.

I need a baby instruction book!

And some sleep

We also have our heating on. im only getting an hiour in between putting her down and her waking up
what am i doing wrong, also i heat her moses b4 she goes in x

Loo....its was pretty gross but she seemed happy with her achievement at 6:30am:haha:
I am using the standard rugby ball (??!!) across the chest type hold so M latches sideways onto.nipple...if that makes sense...always done this position and she seems happy and no pain for me (well very little after initial chomp.down:haha:)

Just seen wouldluvs newborn pics of B on fb.....beautiful. I have a photo shoot booked but thoight best to.do around 4months when shes a bit more lively....now wondering whether to.book another now or do some DIY shots. Whats everyone else doing?

I should be sleeping....M back.in moses basket and said to hubby i was going to kip. Feel guilty doing that hmmmmm

Vitfa - the only other thing I can suggest is she doesn't like the Moses basket? We gave up on ours and use the carrycot part of the pram which fortunately is safe to sleep in overnight( not all are I know). I wonder if the Moses was too narrow or he didn't like the fact the base was softer - I bought the cheapest one there was! E is younger than the rest though, hopefully things will improve with time, it was the 1 week 6 day point before we got him to stay more than an hour.

Got another 2 hours between 6 and 8 :happydance: Mitch def have a kip, we need to sleep when they do!

Left boob feels huge this morning, perhaps the last 2 bad nights were to increase milk, I haven't felt this engorged since milk came in?

Hope you all have good days
X

Yay... Another sleepless night. I got her settled and asleep for about an hour but its the same story as last night... Won't settle again and keeps crying! I feel like I'm getting heart palpitations from lack of sleep. I'm convinced now this is a growth spurt because until now she has always slept fine.

Lads the range of normal poo is quite broad. Roh's were v different to F's and both normal. Things to watch for- hard and dry and foamy and bright green, or with blood in, otherwise, I wouldn't obsess too much :)

Weather is good so we are off to the zoo for the morning and then party this arvo!!

Had B's health check today! He is now 10lb and 1/4oz!!! up from just under 7lb at birth! Also my little man has grown 9cm in length!! I can't believe they can grow so much!!

Also got my photos back finally from our newborn shoot!!! So excited! There are some good ones.. And some not so good ones of me lol! It was only 9 days post birth so I have to cut myself some slack on the weight front!

The last 2 nights B has dropped a night feed and gone from 9.30-3.00 then till about 6.50 which has been nice.. He has been a bit different today though with his feeds not sure what tonight will be like...

Wouldluv - saw your photos, they're fab!!

Good start to my morning... Projectile vomit all over my duvet, went to change a giant nappy then he weed all over the place mid change! Just taken me half an hour to deals with all that, now he's fed again to replace the lost milk. I've had to have a slab of green & blacks chocolate for breakfast so far as the only thing I could grab one handed! I'm starving! Need to work out how to use my babasling!

I've got poo on my duvet Lozza  I only noticed it this morning. Oops!

Mitch, maybe I've got the wrong name for the hold. I feed D holding her under my arm, so she is lying on her back but with a sideways latch on. God knows if I am doing it right, but it's the most comfortable way for me.

Right. After no sleep and a head full of screams, I've got a full on day at the house. Also, we forgot to pick up floating shelves at ikea yesterday so I'll have to brave the hell at some point again. Gah

happy birthday little Roh!!!! hope you have a fab day emera!!! xx

we had our first smile today :cloud9: i've seen a couple before but they've always preceded a dirty nappy or when he's been asleep but this was a proper smile... cute!!!!!

wouldlov - dropped a feed??? amazing. that is something to look forward to!! and your pics of B are awesome. I need to get a photoshoot booked in. So precious. and awesome weight gain!! 3lb in 4 and a bit weeks is very impressive! well done to you both!! :hugs:

Skadi - :hugs: hun... maybe you're growth spurting too...just keep remembering all this feeding is just going to up the milk supply... just try and get some rest when she does...

Settling in baskets... N would sleep anywhere to start with (in fact thats pretty much all he did!) but then had a couple of weeks of not settling irrespective of what we did (so we co-slept) and he's back to settling i his basket again...and getting better at getting himself off to sleep. the dummy helps a lot if he's not deep asleep - this morning he'd fed, been changed and was doing his sleepy growl so put him down in his pram awake with a dummy in and 10mins later he's fast asleep...I feel like things are getting slightly easier - a month in so it should be!!!

Lozza - oh mate...we've all been there...i'm so fed up with washing sicked on things - i literally get through 10 muslins per day :dohh: i find if i'm a bit engorged then i feed for 5mins then detach him and burp then carry on or else i'll get covered...and otherwise i just hold him upright very still for 5-10mins where he self burps then move to more vigorous burping over shoulder. as for quick food...i've had a breakfast of the brownies i made yesterday...

oh and about being engorged again - 2days ago and i thought my boobs were going to explode so i think our milk must just keep upping with their increased feeding episodes...hate feeding from engorged boobs - much harder to get a decent latch and way more proj vom's...ugh.

Mitch - hope you're napping... i'm NCTing today too - so glad I did the NCT thing...we're having a meet up this afternoon too...my little bit of sanity along with you lads!!!

Our last NCT lady has had her baby - 9lb 8  with forceps and 4th degree tear :)nope:) and now baby in NICU with meconium inhalation and gastric ulcer...poor poor little family... she's asked me to go and visit tomorrow so will have to practice my brave face... it (selfishly) just makes me so glad N is here and safe...

here's a photo of my gorgeous little man...growing up!!!

MORNING LADIES!

ive been stuck in visitor hell - hence ive not been able to get on here all weekend. Honestly, just when u think everyone and their son has met the baby.... there is someone else who hasnt :haha: i shouldnt complain as everyone is lovely, but its pretty tiring.

Hope your all well - i went back a few pages but no chance of reading everything ive missed :(

So digs stump FINALLY came off the night before last... on day 14! honestly, everything about him is chilled haha. QUESTION ABOUT THE STUMP - when your LO's came off did the tummy button look like an innie straight away?? if so, i think digs has an outie (i dont care either way - just curious). anyway now the stump is off we can finally ''tummy tub'' him

Digs fed last night at midnight, 5am and then 8am - so i feel quite refreshed today. I always change Digs nappy at bedtime, feed him in our bed, let him fall lightly asleep in my arms then put him in his crib for the night...seems to work for us. If i put him in there wide awake he grizzles though. The room is always about 20degrees. We dont swaddle - just a couple of celular blankets.

His poo is still yellow and is always runny..... likewise to all of you ive heard this is normal xxx

As for me..... vitfa, was it you who said you have now got piles? Sorry to be TMI but so have i thanks to those STUPID iron tablets (which im currently not taking - i refuse to until i get my lactulose). Ive never had them before and theyare awfulllllllllll.

Its also crap not being able to take my iron tablets as im pretty sure its my aneamia thats making me tired.... and not digs :(

Gah sorry, this post was a bit me,me,me :nope: at least i can be on here this weerk now tho to keep up with you all :happydance:

Oooooo happy birthday to little Roh!!!! :cake:

waula - your poor friend :nope: :hugs: xxx and thats a gorgeous photo of Noah :)

erm..... digs sucked his thumb for first time yesterday... just for a little while..... should i consider a dummy do you think? is anyone else NOT using a dummy atm? i cant decide. xxx

I'm not using a dummy FT. I've never really seen the need as a doesn't seem to need anything. If she shows signs of wanting something then I'll consider it. :)

Finally managed a bowl of cereal - after a giant nappy change during which he weed again, so decided on a quick bath which went well, he loves it in water! Hard to dry them on your own, getting out and into the towel! Then weed again while drying him! Hes been on one outfit a day mainly but were on outfit 3 at 11am already!! The nursery looks like a bomb hit it, got thru 2 mats and there's 3 lots of wee on the carpet.

The glamour of motherhood hey?!
