hi ladies- just wondering when you went on maternity leave?
I was thinking 28 weeks which is 8th March for me- other half pressuring me to stay till end of march but iv heard with twins you should really leave by 28 weeks?

mainly because I do 4 hours during term time but cone 20th March my hours would be 12 hrs a day which I would rather not do to be honest!
partner says speak to midwife which I will but just wondering what you all did/thought

I was due to work until 33 weeks, with 2 weeks annual leave at the end of it, but my BP had other ideas and i ended up finishing at 31 weeks and as i get fully paid if i'm off sick i am still currently on the sick until 2nd January when Maternity pay then takes over. I didn't realise just how tired i was until i was able to rest up daily instead of working.

So i think it depends on your body and babies are doing as to when you need to finish  x

hmm I just don't know what to tell my boss-:(
I'm a nanny so I'm the only member of staff so she will need a definite answer when I go bk in the new year I just don't know what to decide lol

By law you should have until 26 weeks to make that decision even if you are a sole employee? have you checked the .gov website for that info. Does it make a difference if you are employed or self employed with SMP?

I don't really know - never done this before- if I was going to go at 28 weeks though I wouldn't want to leave it to long as It will be hard for them to find a replacement - I might just say I'm aiming for 28 weeks, and if I feel fine could possibly go longer if she wanted me to

My goal was 28 weeks but I shortened it to 27 and im so glad I did. I'm self employed and it was hard to leave and also hard to be without my income but I just couldn't physically do it anymore. I did it just in time to as it now seems my full time job is going to dr appts!!

I went to 31 weeks but that was a bit too long to be honest. If it's only 4 hours a day why don't you try going until 19th march?

I'm currently aiming for end of April, which is around 32wks, but it will completely depend upon how the twins progress. I have a desk job with trips up and down stairs to a factory floor, but those trips can be limited later on.

Being a nanny is tough work so I would speak to your consultant and see how things progress rather than making a definite answer now. Just explain to them the situation and unfortunately something's are out of your control!

I'm planning on going to 29 weeka which is up untill the easter holidays I think that should be ok. I think I'm gonna tell her that date n just say obviously I'd I feel.terrible b4 ill have to go early or if I feel fine I could prob do at least half days in the holidays xx

Sounds like a good plan! Gotta think about you and your twins!
