Just realised yesterday that u get Paid maternity pay weekly :dohh:

I have always been paid monthly, my OH gets paid weekly at the moment and is working for an agency. The thing is all my bills come off on Direct Debit on a monthly basis, im starting to panic as I dont know how I will be able to budget weekly now :hissy:

Anyone got any tips on how I can mange this best, or is it just as easy working it out weekly? x

I used to work out my entire bills for the month and then divide them by 4, this gives me how much i need to put away each week to be able to cover the bills when they come out. Depending when your DDs etc come out either put all the money in the bank to cover them or leave the money in the bank and draw out the rest, whichever you find easier.
Weekly pay is a drag when your used to monthly, but trust me its much better for workin out finances!! Id rather go back to weekly if i could x

Most of my bills come off at the end of the month so I guess its just a case of making sure the money is put by till the bills are due.

I got mine monthly, can you request that it comes in that way?

I really dont know, my letter from HR says it will be paid weekly. Going to email HR dept just now coz ive got a couple of questions anyways.

If you normally get paid monthly, your maternity pay gets paid in the same way so you should get paid monthly (your work deal with the payment).

To work it out you should work out the amount of (SMP x52) divided by 12 (you will get SMP for 39 weeks).

Don't forget we also get taxed on SMP so you will need to deduct about £20 per week for that too.

I get paid monthly normally and my mat pay will be monthly too so it doesn't have to be weekly hun :)

You should continue to be paid monthly, but you may find that you get paid more in months than others - as some months have 5 weeks. I work in HR, so I deal with this stuff all the time. We send expectant mothers a document so they can see how much they'll get paid each month.

I think for statutory purposes, it is calcuated weekly.
